Hell.
Countless demons prostrated themselves on the ground, looking up at the sky with eyes filled with fear and shock.
The sky, which should have been perpetually shrouded in thick darkness and sulfurous smoke, was currently torn apart by a piercing, purplish-black light.
A figure emerged from that purple light.
She had a human torso and a snake's tail, an appearance identical to Satan's.
Holding a massive scythe in her hand, she hovered in the sky above Hell. Countless black runes swirled around her like living things, twisting and rotating constantly while emitting a suffocating pressure.
“I have finally returned!” Hecate's laughter was sharp and piercing. “From this day forth, Hell belongs to me!”
“Hell belongs to demons, not darkness.” Lucifer soared into the sky from the Purgatory Palace, his twelve wings unfurling behind him.
Even though Lucifer knew the woman before him was the God of Darkness, as the Lord of Hell, he had to fight.
Hecate's scythe drew a pitch-black arc in the air, slashing straight toward Lucifer's head. Lucifer met her attack, wielding chains that blazed with black flames.
The demons held their breath, watching the battle in the sky. However, the progression of the fight defied all of their expectations.
“Lord Lucifer... is actually injured?” A high-ranking demon hid behind a rock, his eyes filled with disbelief.
Lucifer was the Lord of Hell. The demon had never seen Lucifer in such a pathetic state.
“What should we do?” the high-ranking demon asked, his voice laced with confusion.
“We can only wait...” another high-ranking demon whispered, a complex light flickering in his eyes. “No matter who wins, we can only submit. That is the law of Hell.”
In the sky, the battle between Hecate and Lucifer grew increasingly fierce. Scythe and chains clashed, sending out shockwaves of energy that seemed ready to tear all of Hell apart.
Ultimately, Lucifer's body was violently sent flying, crashing heavily onto the ground of Hell.
The demons' whispers instantly ceased, and the entirety of Hell fell into a dead silence.
Lucifer had lost.
Hell was about to change hands.
Lucifer struggled to stand, but Hecate's snake tail suddenly swept across, sending him flying again to crash heavily against the wall of the Purgatory Palace.
Hecate said, “I know that mermaid is in Hell. Where did you hide her?”
Lucifer did not answer. His gaze was cold and filled with disgust.
“As expected of the former deputy of Heaven, leader of the angels, and twelve-winged archangel—Lucifiel. The way you look at me is exactly the same as Surya,” Hecate said.
Lucifer said coldly, “The God of Light is hypocritical, and you are wicked. Neither of you is any good.”
Hecate smiled like a blooming flower. “Lucifer, if you lose all your power, will you still be able to maintain your current pride?”
Her hand slowly reached toward Lucifer's first wing, and her fingers suddenly tightened.
Blood spurted out as Lucifer's wing was brutally torn from his back.
Lucifer's body curled up in agony, but he clenched his teeth, refusing to let out a single cry of pain.
Hecate's voice was filled with temptation. “Tell me where that mermaid is, and I will spare you.”
Lucifer only stared deathly at Hecate, his crimson eyes filled with endless hatred and thick malice.
“If you don't want to talk, then forget it.” The corners of Hecate's lips curled up. Her fingers, sharp as blades, stabbed into the base of his second wing and ripped it out.
Then the third, the fourth, the fifth...
The blood on the ground gradually wound into puddles. Lucifer lay motionless, his breathing so weak it was almost nonexistent.
“Tsk, you can't even handle this much.” Hecate shook the blood from her hand, her laughter manic. “Why don't you call out to your Father God? Perhaps he will come to save you.”
She knew Surya must be watching this scene, which made her feel exceptionally gratified.
She relished destroying everything Surya cared about.
Lucifer's lips moved, silently uttering two words.
In the next second, his figure vanished on the spot.
Hecate naturally knew who had rescued Lucifer. She couldn't help but curl her lips in amusement. “My good child, I will wait for you to come home in Hell.”
But before that, she had to find that damned lock to eliminate any future troubles.
Hecate's furious voice echoed throughout Hell: “Listen up, all of you. I give you seven days to find the mermaid hidden in Hell. Otherwise, I will bathe all of Hell in blood.”
All the demons fell into panic and unease.
The sky of Hell was truly about to change.
...
The deep sea.
Ning Busan felt somewhat anxious.
This anxiety came out of nowhere, as if foreshadowing something.
The black feather belonging to Lucifer suddenly floated in front of Ning Busan. Immediately after, Ning Busan heard a faint, barely audible call.
Ning Busan grabbed the feather and, without a second thought, summoned Lucifer.
The air was instantly filled with a thick, metallic scent of blood.
Lucifer's body was slightly hunched, his long silver hair falling messily over his shoulders, obscuring half of his pale face.
As Lucifer was about to collapse to the ground, Ning Busan quickly supported him, only to get a hand full of blood.
Ning Busan pulled aside Lucifer's clothes and saw twelve gruesome, horrifying bloody holes on his back.
The flesh around the edges of the bloody holes was mangled and upturned, and a black mist was corroding the wounds.
Ning Busan cursed under his breath. Suppressing the anger in his heart, he forced himself to calm down.
He had to treat Lucifer's injuries first.
Ning Busan slowly raised his hands, and a ball of black light condensed in his palms. It was the power of Hell, hot and violent, yet it became docile under his control.
He placed his palms close to Lucifer's back. The black light seeped into the wounds like flowing water, beginning to repair the torn flesh.
Lucifer's body shuddered violently, and he let out a low, muffled groan. He clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white.
“Bear with it.” Ning Busan was also a bit nervous.
This was his first time using dark magic to heal a demon, and the corrosive black mist on Lucifer's wounds had to be slowly purged.
Fine beads of sweat broke out on Lucifer's forehead, sliding down his cheeks and mixing with the blood.
It wasn't until the last wisp of black mist was forced out that his wounds began to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye.
However, his wings were completely gone.
“Who did this?” Ning Busan's voice carried an irrepressible rage, and a cold murderous intent ignited in his eyes.
Lucifer whispered, “The God of Darkness.”
Ning Busan's pupils contracted slightly. “She was released?”
Wait, how did the God of Light let that crazy woman out?
Lucifer continued, “The God of Darkness is looking for that mermaid.”
Ning Busan understood instantly.
The God of Light was looking for the Lock of Causality because he wanted to use it to suppress the God of Darkness.
But the God of Darkness had already escaped, so she had to obtain the Lock of Causality before the God of Light did.
Looking at Lucifer's pale face and recalling the scene of the Elven Mother Tree burning, the rage in Ning Busan's heart surged once more. His voice carried an endless chill:
“I will definitely settle this debt for you.”
