Chapter 94 · Volume 1

Chaos in Hell (2)

“Don't be reckless,” Lucifer said calmly. “The God of Light cannot suppress the God of Darkness, which means her power is already greater than his.”
“Hell was born from darkness, so the God of Darkness holds control over it. The mermaid likely cannot be saved.”
“Hell is already in chaos. You cannot go back.”
Ning Busan frowned. “But once Hell falls into chaos, the entire Landia Continent will be affected.”
Lucifer was clear-headed and indifferent. “The reappearance of the God of Darkness was bound to bring disaster to the world. That is the God of Light's concern. Why should you interfere?”
“If the two gods fight, the mortal world will become the epicenter of their battle for faith. Even if it spreads to the deep sea, you will still have an absolute home advantage.”
“Isn't it fine for you to just remain in the deep sea as the Sea God?”
Ning Busan replied, “You were just urging me to return to Hell a couple of days ago.”
Lucifer said, “Now, I only hope you can stay out of it.”
Ning Busan remained silent for a long time, thinking deeply. He was both searching his heart and weighing the pros and cons.
Ultimately, Ning Busan shook his head. “I can't just stand by and do nothing. There are people in the human world I care about. I cannot let the Dawn Empire become another Elven Valley.”
A low chuckle escaped Lucifer's throat. “I am actually... not surprised by your choice at all.”
Phoenix had been willing to discard his angelic body for the sake of the balance between light and darkness.
Satan had ushered in the terrifying Dark Era for the sake of Hell's demons.
And Ning Busan would surely step into the vortex of the divine war for his friends in the human world.
That shining soul had never changed.
Lucifer said, “I will return to Hell with you.”
Ning Busan's brows knit together. “You stay in the deep sea and recover from your injuries.”
“Alright,” Lucifer said with a self-deprecating smile. “Then take care of yourself.”
His wings were the physical manifestation of his origin power. Having all twelve wings torn off meant his origin was severely damaged.
Right now, he couldn't even deal with a low-ranking demon.
Ning Busan set off for Hell alone, leaving Beelzebub behind in the deep sea to look after Lucifer.
To this, Beelzebub had some objections.
He would rather go with Ning Busan to a Hell fraught with danger than take care of a moody patient!
Because every time he asked Lucifer if he needed help, Lucifer would only reply with three icy words: “Get out.”
Beelzebub could only leave meekly.
He could clearly crush the injured Lucifer, so why was he still so terrified when facing him?
And he was very puzzled.
As the Demon King of Pride, Lucifer possessed such an arrogant and conceited personality. After suffering such a massive setback, would he really just sit around and wait for death while recovering in the deep sea?
Of course not.
When Hecate tore off Lucifer's wings, she had asked him: “If you lose all your power, will you still be able to maintain your current pride?”
Lucifer naturally could.
He had never been proud because he possessed power.
Pride was his core essence.
In Heaven, the God of Light always stood above him.
In Hell, the God of Darkness always stood above him.
Yet, having served as both the deputy of Heaven and the Lord of Hell, how could Lucifer possibly be simple?
...
Hell, the Abyss.
The Abyss was a massive pit, a chaotic territory located at the very bottom of Hell.
No demons lived here; instead, it was inhabited by the most ferocious magical beasts in Hell.
And the only entrance to Hell was also located in the Abyss.
Ning Busan stared at the towering and eerie Gates of Hell. He raised his hand and swiped lightly, and the Gates of Hell slowly opened with a heavy rumble.
A cold wind rushed over him, carrying the pungent scent of sulfur and a thick smell of blood.
Ning Busan walked inside, his snake tail sliding silently across the ground.
Since he had come to Hell, he had naturally equipped the Satan card.
By now, Ning Busan had completely integrated the power of three cards.
A quantitative change led to a qualitative change; when using the Satan card, there wasn't even much of a rejection reaction.
Absorbing the remaining cards was only a matter of time for him.
The moment Ning Busan entered Hell, a low roar echoed from the darkness.
Immediately after, a massive magical beast slowly stepped out of the shadows.
Its body was as massive as a small mountain, with three hideous and terrifying heads, and its entire body burned with blazing flames.
The three-headed hellhound, the magical beast that guarded the Gates of Hell.
Ning Busan curled his lips, his tone carrying a hint of disdain and mockery. “Dumb dog, you don't even recognize your own master?”
When the three-headed hellhound's gaze fell upon Ning Busan, its fierce aura instantly vanished.
Its three heads drooped simultaneously, letting out low whimpers from its throats. Its tail wagged frantically with a hint of fawning, as obedient as a house pet.
Ning Busan patted its middle head. “Guard the gate well, dumb dog.”
The three-headed hellhound's body trembled slightly, not daring to resist in the slightest. Instead, it lowered its heads even further.
Ning Busan withdrew his hand and continued forward.
The three-headed hellhound lay prostrate on the ground, its three heads pressed close to the floor as it watched him leave.
Ning Busan saw an acquaintance in the Abyss.
Mammon was flapping his wings, hovering in mid-air. His gaze swept over every corner of the Abyss, seemingly searching for something.
Ning Busan picked up a stone, aimed at Mammon's forehead, and threw it.
Mammon dodged it. He looked down, about to lose his temper, when a flash of shock crossed his eyes.
He quickly flew down in front of Ning Busan, opening his mouth, but not knowing what to say.
When he first saw Ning Busan in the human world, he had been unable to accept that Satan had actually turned into a weak human.
When he saw Ning Busan again in the deep sea, Mammon felt that the world was truly wondrous—a human could actually turn into a sea monster.
If Ning Busan had returned as Satan a few days earlier, Mammon would definitely have been overjoyed.
But it just had to be now.
Mammon knit his brows. “What are you doing back in Hell at a time like this?”
Ning Busan: “I came to acknowledge a foe as my mother.”
Mammon's forehead flashed with a row of question marks. “What did you say?”
Ning Busan was too lazy to explain and asked in return, “Why are you here?”
At the mention of this, Mammon grew furious. “Right now, all the demons in Hell are looking for that mermaid. I hid her in the Abyss.”
“I clearly told her not to run around! But she's gone!”
Ning Busan asked, “Why did you hide her?”
“Didn't you tell me to take good care of her?” Mammon said. “If she got eaten by a magical beast because she was running around, you can't blame me.”
Ning Busan said calmly, “No news is good news.”
He had great confidence in Lilian, and even felt that she might have already escaped from Hell.
Ning Busan asked, “What is the situation in Hell like?”
Mammon said, “Hell has been turned completely upside down, but Lilian still hasn't been found. The God of Darkness slaughters demons from time to time to vent her anger. If this continues, all the demons in Hell will be wiped out by her.”
After walking out of the Abyss, Ning Busan saw mountains of demon corpses along the way. Dark red lava and crimson blood intertwined, truly turning the place into a living hell.
Mammon's voice was filled with suppression. “She agreed to give us seven days to find the mermaid, but by the third day, she had already started her slaughter.”
Hecate's level of twistedness rose to a new height in Ning Busan's mind.
Hell belonged to the darkness faction, yet she treated it this way, let alone other places.
Mammon emphasized, “That woman is a complete lunatic!”
Ning Busan asked, “Do you know what the best way to deal with a lunatic is?”
“Huh?”
“Be even crazier than her.”
