"It looks like we're surrounded," Yue Shi said nonchalantly.
Bai Wanyang’s face was grim, his eyes fixed on the half-human, half-bee monsters outside the window, looking like he was about to explode with rage.
Dozens of monsters surrounded the pickup truck. Some even clung to the tires beneath the vehicle, refusing to let go. These creatures possessed physical strength far beyond that of ordinary humans; even with Yue Shi flooring the accelerator, the truck only moved forward at a snail's pace.
The half-human, half-bee monsters pounded and slammed against the vehicle. Their arms had mutated into insect-like appendages, and they were relentlessly trying to flip the car, slice through the metal plating, or shatter the windows.
Fortunately, this pickup was specialized Investigation Bureau equipment and was exceptionally sturdy. It would take more than a moment for the monsters to tear it apart.
The windshield was the first to let out a series of sharp cracks. Having been struck by a bullet earlier, it was already webbed with fractures.
Surrounded by so many monsters from all sides, the vehicle shook violently. If the stalemate continued, the truck was likely to be flipped over even if its frame held together.
However, the two men inside showed no signs of tension or fear.

According to the Investigation Bureau's in-depth research on the supernatural group known as Bee Women, they maintained a very strict social hierarchy.
At the top was the true source of contamination, the Queen Bee. The middle tier consisted of the common Bee Women, who were categorized into various types of Worker Bees. At the very bottom were the venomous bees, the contaminated, and these mutated half-human, half-bee monsters.
Bee Women included powerful melee soldier types, those capable of spitting beeswax to build hives, those who raised venomous bees and could summon swarms, and those who brewed Honey.
Honey was the primary method through which Bee Women spread contamination and expanded their population.

Another gunshot interrupted Yue Shi’s thoughts. The cracks on the bulletproof windshield in front of him expanded rapidly. It looked ready to give way, on the verge of being completely pierced.
The sniper hiding in the shadows had fired a second shot, and incredibly, both rounds had struck the exact same spot.
One more shot, and the bulletproof glass would be useless.
Just as Yue Shi thought this, a third gunshot rang out.
A bullet streaked toward them at high speed.
Quick-witted and fast-acting, Bai Wanyang’s palm lit up with a spinning, blue energy ball.
He slammed the energy ball against the bullet mark on the windshield.
Following a muffled thud, the bullet finally reached the same spot on the window, but its power was neutralized by Bai Wanyang’s energy ball. The bullet fragments were blasted into shards by the energy ball and fell lightly onto the steering wheel like a piece of discarded trash.
A large hole now gaped in the bulletproof windshield. Bai Wanyang withdrew his hand with lingering fear, patting his chest. "Good thing I have fast reflexes."
Yue Shi turned his head with a smile. "Truly, thank you."
Though he had already activated his Demon Feather Barrier and wasn't afraid of the bullet at all.
"Don't mention it," Bai Wanyang said, waving it off. His gaze and expression suddenly became exceptionally sharp.
He extended a finger, and a Rasengan-like energy ball condensed at the tip. He fired this sphere through the hole in the windshield, scoring a direct hit on the head of a monster in front of them.
With a wet splat, the monster’s head exploded. Pale gold blood and brain matter sprayed everywhere like a burst watermelon.
Immediately after, Bai Wanyang forced the car door open. Energy Cannons were fired in rapid succession from his fingertips. The monsters hit by them instantly went limp, their bodies falling stiffly to the ground, twitching as the life left them.
In just thirty seconds, the monsters surrounding the vehicle had all been wiped out by Bai Wanyang.
Bang— Another gunshot rang out.
This bullet wasn't aimed at Bai Wanyang, who had stepped out of the car. The target was still Yue Shi.
"They hate me that much?" Yue Shi raised an eyebrow with interest.
The bullet flew straight toward the center of his forehead. However, when it was only a centimeter away from his skin, the bullet’s speed abruptly slowed. Its momentum vanished as if it had sunk into a swamp, and it eventually fell feebly to the floor.
"Are you okay?" Bai Wanyang, hearing the shot, rushed back to the car, only to find Yue Shi completely unharmed, with nothing but an extra bullet fragment by his feet.
He was a bit surprised, but quickly realized that even if he hadn't stepped in earlier, Yue Shi wouldn't have been hurt by the bullets.
Tch... making me look like I was being over-solicitous, Bai Wanyang thought to himself, though he kept a straight face and didn't pry into how Yue Shi had avoided the bullet.
Yue Shi summoned two ravens to circle nearby at low altitude. He turned to warn Bai Wanyang, "Hold on tight."
Then, he floored the accelerator, and the truck surged forward.
After connecting with the ravens' vision, he didn't find anything resembling a Bee Woman nearby. Instead, he saw another familiar female face.
Why is she here?
Confused and surprised, Yue Shi drove the truck along the fastest route toward "her."
The distance between them closed rapidly.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Bai Wanyang swayed back and forth, unable to steady himself. For once, he felt the discomfort of motion sickness.
When Yue Shi was less than twenty meters from his target, the roar of an engine suddenly erupted nearby.
Seeing the Investigation Bureau vehicle rapidly approaching, an SUV ahead also floored it and shot forward.

"No, you're not," Yue Shi confirmed.
Bai Wanyang still hesitated. "What if it's a twin sister, or maybe her mother got plastic surgery to come for revenge..."
Yue Shi glanced him up and down. "What kind of melodramatic soap operas have you been watching lately?"
