Chapter 315 · Volume 1

A Deity's Gaze, Death Descends

Not only had the others not expected it, but Olivia herself was also caught off guard.
What did the Radiant Goddess want with her by keeping her behind alone?
Olivia couldn't help but let her mind wander, pondering this question. The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became.
Could it be that her secrets had been discovered?
She truly couldn't be certain about such a thing. After all, the being before her was the most powerful entity she had encountered since coming to this world—a genuine deity.
Olivia had no idea what kind of immense power the other party possessed. She had never seen it, and even the magic mirror had no way to infer it.
But since she bore the title of a god, she certainly wouldn't be weak.
Soon, Adam and the other two withdrew, leaving only Olivia and the Radiant Goddess inside the palace.
The Radiant Goddess's golden eyes were like two suns embedded in her face. She stared at Olivia and said, "There is a very wrong aura about you."
A very wrong aura?
What kind of aura was it?
Olivia's heart skipped a beat. Could it be the aura of the magic mirror?
Feeling uneasy, she asked the Radiant Goddess, "May I ask, Goddess, what is wrong with me?"
"There is an aura of death upon you," the Radiant Goddess said unhurriedly.
An aura of death?
This answer stunned Olivia for a moment, and then a thought flashed through her mind like a bolt of lightning.
The reason she had come to this world was that the original owner of her body had once accidentally obtained an evil god scroll.
That evil god scroll was related to the Death Sovereign, the deity worshiped by the Twilight Council. Opening it would draw the Death Sovereign's attention, resulting in a single glance from the deity.
It was a deity's gaze, powerful enough to cause any living being it fell upon to collapse and die on the spot.
That was how the original owner's soul had dissipated.
After Olivia arrived in this world and learned what had happened through the magic mirror, she had carefully kept the evil god scroll hidden and had never opened it.
She didn't dare to simply throw the scroll away. If someone else were to open it, the Death Sovereign would not only kill that person but also notice the one who was supposed to have died previously.
In other words, the Death Sovereign would realize she was still alive and might grant her death once more.
Because of this, Olivia had to keep the evil god scroll on her person. It was currently stored inside her Amber Tears.
Hearing the Radiant Goddess mention this, the first thing Olivia thought of was that scroll.
"Have you remembered what it is?" the Radiant Goddess's cool voice rang out again.
"It might be related to this item I obtained by chance."
As Olivia spoke, she took the evil god scroll directly out of her Amber Tears.
The scroll looked very ancient and somewhat ordinary.
But as she held it, Olivia's hands trembled slightly.
This object was truly extraordinary, carrying an incredibly staggering significance. It possessed an invisible weight that felt oppressive.
Furthermore, Olivia didn't know if presenting such an item before the Radiant Goddess counted as desecrating a deity, which added to her internal tension.
"So it is this thing," the Radiant Goddess said with a slight nod upon seeing the scroll.
With a wave of her hand, the scroll flew over and landed in her grasp.
The Radiant Goddess looked at Olivia again and asked, "This scroll must have been in your possession for quite some time, hasn't it? In all that time, did you never think of opening it to take a look?"
"I opened it once and found a strange ritual inside. It gave me a very uneasy feeling, so I didn't attempt to use it," Olivia answered honestly.
She explained that she could vaguely sense the danger of the scroll, so she didn't dare discard it for fear of harming others.
However, she also didn't dare destroy it, as she felt that doing so would lead to something terrible.
Therefore, the only thing she could do was keep the scroll with her and keep a constant eye on it.
Hearing this, the Radiant Goddess nodded secretly.
Even she had to admit that Olivia's way of handling such a scroll was the most effective method.
"You have a very keen intuition, which is likely how you were able to grow to your current level. You have done very well.
"This scroll is indeed related to the Death Sovereign. If you had truly used the ritual on it, he would have targeted you.
"You no longer need to worry about this problem."
As the Radiant Goddess spoke, she had already unfurled the scroll.
With her authority, she naturally had no fear of the so-called Death Sovereign.
She merely glanced at the ritual on the scroll and gave a cold snort. Then, a brilliant white light erupted from her hand, annihilating the scroll on the spot.
Almost at the exact moment the Radiant Goddess destroyed the scroll, an incredibly intense aura of dominance emerged and spread from the spot where it had vanished.
Within that aura, the scent of death rapidly diffused, bringing with it a feeling of near-suffocation in a short amount of time.
It was the breath of the Death Sovereign.
In a daze, Olivia felt as though she perceived an ancient, distant, and terrifying existence. Far away in the depths of the starry sky, it turned around and cast a long-distance glance toward this place.
With just that one glance, it felt as if all things in heaven and earth—everything—were about to shatter.
"Hmph!"
At that moment, Olivia heard a cold snort from the Radiant Goddess.
The moment she heard it, the pressure weighing down on her vanished without a trace.
Then, she heard the Radiant Goddess speak.
"Death, this is no place for your prying eyes."
Along with those words, the Radiant Goddess struck out with a magnificent light. It shot through the vast void, aiming directly at the distant Death Sovereign.
Afterward, everything fell silent.
Olivia didn't know who had gained the upper hand in the clash between the Radiant Goddess and the Death Sovereign.
She only knew that the two deities had not truly engaged in battle; what had just occurred was merely a minor exchange.
After dealing with the evil god scroll, the Radiant Goddess looked at Olivia again and said, "Very well. You need not worry about being targeted by the Death Sovereign anymore. After all, you are one of mine.
"You may leave now. Rest well within my divine domain. The task I need you for will come soon enough."
With no further business, Olivia breathed a secret sigh of relief. After offering a few words of praise to the Radiant Goddess, she slowly withdrew from the hall.
