Chapter 316 · Volume 1

The Divine Domain of the Radiant Goddess

Olivia soon stepped out of the palace.
She looked up, and all she saw was a vast expanse of white.
Under the deep blue sky, countless clouds drifted to and fro, forming the ground.
Above these countless clouds, palaces were built one after another, making this Kingdom on the Clouds appear exceptionally extraordinary.
Adam, Guinevere, and Rose were waiting for Olivia outside.
In addition to them, another figure stood waiting there.
That figure wore a pure white robe, with golden hair fluttering in the breeze and a pair of snowy-white wings on her back.
This figure was the angel the Radiant Goddess had mentioned.
Angels were also beings of myth and legend, never seen in the main world. However, the appearance of an angel within the divine domain of the Radiant Goddess did not seem strange at all.
This angel appeared female and had blue eyes. Seeing Olivia come out, she said with a smile, “Since you are here, follow me. I will take you to where you will be staying.”
Olivia hurried to catch up.
While she did not feel the same crushing pressure as she had when facing the Radiant Goddess, she still sensed an invincible power coming from the angel.
“Let us go.”
The angel flew toward the rear, and the other four followed close behind.
After flying for only a short while, the angel dove into the cloud layer beneath their feet, and Olivia and the others could only follow suit.
When they passed through that layer of clouds, they discovered even more white clouds below, and upon those clouds, more palaces stood.
Furthermore, compared to the layer above, there were many more figures on this layer. Every single one was an angel, flying about in all directions.
The sight of so many angels dancing in the air was enough to make anyone’s mind wander in a daze.
At that moment, the angel leading Olivia and the others spoke: “My name is Edith. You may simply call me Edith.
“I need to tell you some basic facts about the divine domain first. Adam should already know, but the rest of you are likely visiting a divine domain for the first time.
“The divine domain is divided into three layers. The Upper Layer is the Goddess’s private residence; one may not go there easily without a summons from the Goddess.
“The Middle Layer is where the angels live. If you have business with a particular angel, you may come up here on your own.
“The Middle Layer does not have many restrictions for you, though you cannot live here directly.
“Of course, if you are invited by an angel to stay permanently, that is a different matter.
“Further down is the Lower Layer, which is where the Goddess’s believers reside.
“We are about to enter the Lower Layer.”
As Edith spoke, she had already led the group to the cloud level of the Middle Layer and dove into the clouds once more.
Whether in the Upper or Middle Layers, one only had to dive through the clouds to reach the layer below. Going to a higher layer was done in the same manner.
The cloud layer was not particularly thick. Before long, the group emerged from the other side.
Presented before Olivia’s eyes was a boundless sea of clouds. Atop that sea, buildings appeared one after another.
It was essentially a massive city on the clouds.
Within this cloud city, many people lived—men and women of all kinds.
“This is the Lower Layer,” Edith told the group.
“Is there an even lower layer?” Olivia couldn’t help but ask.
“There is no layer lower than this. Once you reach the Lower Layer, even if you dive into the clouds, there is not much space below. This is the bottom of the divine domain,” Edith said, shaking her head.
“Where do all these residents come from?” Olivia asked curiously.
This was her first time in a place like a divine domain, and she naturally had many questions.
Edith smiled and said, “Like you, they are believers of the Goddess. It is just that they are permitted to live within the divine domain.”
Although Olivia didn’t know what benefits there were to living in a divine domain, just hearing about it was enough to inspire faith.
After all, the divine domain was the place closest to the Radiant Goddess.
Guinevere couldn’t help but speak up: “Why are they allowed to live here? Can’t we people from the Radiant Light Church live here too?”
Edith chuckled at the question. “Is it not the same regardless of where you live? Do you not all receive the Goddess’s grace?
“The world you live in is not that far from the Goddess. Staying in your own world is actually the same as staying in the Lower Layer.
“And do not think that staying here is necessarily better. They also find it difficult to see the Goddess—some may never see her in their entire lives. It is simply easier for them to see angels.
“Furthermore, the reason they were able to enter the divine domain and live here is that their own worlds have already been destroyed.
“If your world were also destroyed, leaving you with nowhere to go, then as believers of the Goddess, you would also be brought to the divine domain to live from then on.”
Hearing Edith’s explanation, the group was left speechless.
Olivia spoke again: “How many worlds are covered by the Goddess’s grace?”
Edith thought for a moment and said, “That is difficult to calculate.
“The ‘worlds’ we speak of may not be exactly the same as what you mean by ‘worlds.’
“In your world, I believe you have the concept of an alternate space, correct?
“To us, any alternate space counts as a world.
“There are many worlds that receive the Goddess’s grace—too many to count.
“Of course, you are somewhat special. The world you reside in can be called a world favored by the gods.”
Edith told them that most worlds actually had only one faith.
If a world believed in the Radiant Goddess, the entire world believed in her.
If a world believed in the Earth Goddess, then the entire world believed in her.
A world like their main world, where faiths for various gods could coexist, was exceedingly rare.
That world could practically be called a meeting place of the gods.
As for why their world was so special, even Edith did not know.
Perhaps it was merely a matter of coincidence, or perhaps there was something unique about it.
While they talked, Edith had already led the group to land in a corner of the cloud city below, in front of a house with a courtyard.
Although there was no earth here, strange flowers and grasses were planted atop the clouds, and the house was built firmly upon them. Everything looked incredibly magical.
Edith pointed to the house and said, “You will be staying here for the time being. I will also be staying with you temporarily. If you have any doubts, you can ask me.”
“I also have a question,” Adam, the Pope, finally couldn’t help but speak up.
