Sword of the Earth

During the discussion about the dragons, the two reached a surprising consensus.

It was then that Isadora asked out of the blue, “Speaking of which, Olivia, do you have any business in our Moriah Empire?”

She had finally voiced the question.

Olivia gave a slight smile and said, “I don't have anything special to do. I’m simply out traveling.”

“Traveling?” Isadora practically had disbelief written all over her face.

Olivia laughed and said, “It really is just a trip, and perhaps looking for some information on heretical organizations along the way.

“If I get the chance, I’ll root out a few heretics. That is my intention.

“Actually, not long ago, I traveled to the Varian Empire and happened to stumble upon some business involving the Bloody Sickle.”

Isadora still didn't believe her.

Since Olivia had put it that way, she clearly had no intention of telling her the truth, so there was nothing she could do to force it.

“If it's just for travel, then coming to the Moriah Empire is certainly the right choice. Our empire has many places with pleasant scenery.”

That was all Isadora could say.

But no matter where Olivia went next, she would definitely have to keep a quiet eye on her.

She trusted her intuition, and her intuition told her that Olivia must have an important reason for coming to the Moriah Empire.

“I wonder which places are suitable for a visit?” Olivia asked with a smile, inquiring as if she truly were here just for travel.

Isadora actually began giving Olivia recommendations.

Because among the spots the other woman mentioned, her objective was right there.

Her goal was indeed located within a scenic spot in Ancelas.

After a few more words, Olivia expressed her intention to visit various scenic spots first.

To this, Isadora very kindly offered to accompany her.

She appeared friendly, but in reality, she only wanted to understand what Olivia was actually up to.

She felt that Olivia might go about her true business during this process.

Olivia naturally saw through Isadora’s thoughts, yet she still acted delighted, saying with a smile, “It would be my honor to have you as my guide. Who else could have a prominent figure like you show them around?”

“Then let us go. Which spots do you plan to visit first?” Isadora asked.

“Naturally, I’ll start with a few spots in Ancelas. I’m quite interested in the Sword of the Earth, so let’s head there first,” Olivia replied.

The so-called Sword of the Earth was a scenic spot involving a rather interesting legend.

Legend had it that in the ancient past, in order to select someone with the ability to serve as their representative in the mortal world, a god had left a sword upon the earth.

This sword was thrust deep into the ground. By normal means, no matter what one did, there was no way to pull it out—even digging up the ground wouldn't work.

But once someone could pull the sword out, that person could become the god’s representative.

Of course, legends were just legends; their authenticity could not be taken seriously.

In truth, while few people could pull out this Sword of the Earth, someone would still manage to do so every once in a while.

And the people who pulled out the sword didn't show anything particularly special about them.

In fact, for transcendents, as long as they reached a mid-level class rank, they could reliably pull out the sword.

The Moriah family had also been curious about the sword and studied it, but they hadn't discovered anything. Consequently, they simply left the sword where it was, allowing it to become something of a landmark.

At this moment, hearing Olivia say she wanted to see the Sword of the Earth first, Isadora didn't think much of it. She immediately led the way, and the two parties left the palace together.

Isadora felt that even if Olivia had some objective, she would surely hide it in every possible way and wouldn't expose it easily.

Walking out of the palace, both parties flew into the sky, heading toward their destination at a leisurely pace.

While flying, Olivia was also calculating in her mind.

‘Isadora surely wouldn't expect me to be so direct and pick the target right away. Therefore, she won't pay too much attention to the situation at the Sword of the Earth, which is an opportunity for me. I’ll find a way to pull out the Sword of the Earth and take it with me.’

But Olivia knew the true method.

It didn't take long before she, Isadora, and the others arrived at their destination.

Olivia chatted and laughed with Isadora as they arrived in front of the Sword of the Earth.

The Sword of the Earth was black overall and even bore a few traces of rust. It looked plain and unremarkable.

Olivia looked at it for a moment and then said to Isadora, “Some people can pull this sword out, and some can't. It seems to have a certain uniqueness no matter how you look at it. Have you never thought of taking it for thorough research? Perhaps there’s something special about it?”

Isadora smiled and said, “We have indeed conducted research, but we haven't found anything.

“This weapon contains a certain amount of fate particles. It responds differently based on the fate of different people.

“The fate of some people allows them to pull out the sword, while the fate of others does not.

“Therefore, this item can at most be used as a spiritual material.

“But we aren't lacking in spiritual materials, so we just let it continue to stay here. It makes for a fairly good landmark.”

Olivia looked thoughtful and then said, “I remember that according to the original rules of this spot, whoever can pull out this sword is its owner. But since quite a few people have pulled it out later on, how is that handled?”
