As Sean’s attack missed, Curtis had already appeared behind him, a flash of silver light erupting from his hand as a streak of sword light rapidly closed in on the man.
But Sean was no slow mover; with a quick shift, he dodged to the side, simultaneously swinging his broad-bladed greatsword behind him in a sweeping arc.
Seeing this, Curtis’s movement changed mid-air, halting his original attack and using a flash-step to evade before continuing to seek a new angle of attack.
In a brief window of time, the two exchanged dozens of blows, yet no thunderous sounds of collision rang out; more accurately, the two had never actually made contact, as their movements were exceptionally cautious.
A battle between two Domainists was a rare sight in the transcendent world, and both combatants were forced to be extremely prudent.
As the one being attacked, Sean was even more on guard. He sensed that his opponent wasn't just Curtis alone; there were sharp gazes staring at him from the shadows, which put him at a severe disadvantage.
Therefore, if possible, he had to take down Curtis as quickly as possible.
However, Curtis was not someone who could be easily defeated.
When Curtis made his move, Sean had already recognized him.
After all, there weren't many Swordsmen at the level of a Domainist, and among them, Curtis was quite renowned.
He simply hadn't expected that this Curtis would have actually joined the Twilight Council. If such news were to spread, it would undoubtedly cause a massive uproar.
...
Meanwhile, Olivia and Bruno were poised and ready.
'They have already deployed their respective domains and are canceling each other out. The saying that only a Domainist can oppose another Domainist is certainly correct.'
Olivia thought silently to herself.
Once the domains of two Domainists neutralized each other, any third party who joined the fray would no longer be suppressed by the domain's influence, effectively closing the gap between them and the higher-ranked combatant.
Simply put, the side with more people held the advantage.
After watching the fight for a moment, Olivia said, "Bruno, you should make your move as well."
"Understood."
Bruno nodded and immediately charged out, rapidly closing the distance and swinging his shield toward Sean.
This sight caused Sean’s eyes to narrow.
It didn't surprise him that another person joined the fight, and he had even intended to relax slightly upon discovering the newcomer was only a Transcender. However, the man happened to be a Shield Guard.
Against an ordinary Transcender, Sean was confident he could resolve the matter quickly, even without his domain.
But Shield Guards were known for being thick-skinned and durable, possessing excellent defensive measures; they were not the kind of opponents one could finish off in an instant.
More importantly, a Shield Guard's abilities were often packed with various CC effects that would hinder his movements and provide perfect support for others.
Combined with the high-damage Swordsman Curtis at his side, Sean's situation would become extremely precarious.
Sean realized he had to go all out.
He suddenly backed away a considerable distance, using his broad-bladed greatsword to carve a cross-shaped wound directly into his own chest, letting his blood flow freely to coat the massive blade.
Immediately following this, a crimson light-flame began to emanate from the surface of his body, causing his aura to deepen instantly as a sense of sheer berserk fury enveloped him.
"Kill!"
With a great roar, Sean charged toward the two men in front of him. He swung his broad-bladed greatsword with violent force, slamming it into Bruno’s shield. With a thunderous boom, Bruno was sent flying, tumbling several times across the ground.
Yet this reckless attack also gave Curtis an opening. He rapidly appeared behind Sean and thrust his sword forward.
Sean’s reactions were also swift; he shifted laterally to avoid the blade aimed at his neck, though his shoulder was pierced.
However, Curtis, who had landed the blow, felt no joy. Upon piercing the shoulder, he felt the other man's muscles suddenly clamp down, gripping his sword so tightly that he couldn't even pull it out.
In terms of raw strength, a Berserker was undoubtedly far superior to a Swordsman.
While trapping Curtis’s sword, Sean didn't even turn his head as he swung the broad-bladed greatsword behind him, forcing Curtis to abandon his sword and choose to retreat.
Fortunately, as a power player in the underground black market, Curtis did not lack spiritual weapons. As he retreated, he flipped his hand, and a new sword appeared in his grip.
From the shadows, Olivia watched at a leisurely pace.
"How does Curtis seem unable to hold his own?"
Olivia watched, somewhat speechless. According to the rankings within King's Domain, Curtis was clearly the number one person, yet he couldn't beat Sean, who was ranked second?
Then again, the person ranked ahead of her didn't seem able to beat her either.
The rankings in King's Domain were sorted based on magic power rather than combat prowess, so such a result wasn't actually that strange.
Thinking of this, Olivia knew she had to intervene; otherwise, Curtis and Bruno together would likely never take Sean down.
It wasn't that she hadn't wanted to act earlier, but rather that she had been waiting for an opening.
However, Sean’s offense and defense were integrated as one, leaving no flaws for her to exploit.
It seemed that she would have to create the opportunity herself.
Olivia chose to use the elements to fight, having no desire to engage a Berserker in close-quarters combat.
She raised her hand, the gemstone on her ring flashing as elemental power began to swirl around it.
At that moment, Sean resumed his battle with Curtis and Bruno.
Even though Bruno had been knocked away earlier, as a thick-skinned Shield Guard, his damage-soaking capability was extremely high; such an attack wasn't enough to take him out of the fight.
In the midst of the entanglement with the two men, the sense of danger in Sean’s heart grew higher and higher, even causing a dull throb of pain in his brow.
He knew this was his spirituality warning him that a major threat was brewing.
There was someone else in the shadows.
And they were about to make their move.
At this moment, Sean entered his most sensitive state, trying to sense the position of the person in the dark.
Based on the elements gradually becoming active around him, he judged that the person in the shadows was likely preparing an elemental attack against him.
This indicated that the opponent was probably not someone skilled in close combat.
As long as he could find an opportunity to rush to the other person's side, perhaps he could cleanly resolve this potential threat.
'Found you, right here!'
In just a short span of time, Sean sensed the source of the elemental activity.
He immediately gave a loud shout, forcing Curtis and Bruno back, before charging straight toward the elemental source. In an instant, he had lunged directly in front of Olivia.
