Chapter 87 · Volume 1

The Secret of the Primordial God

Lilith followed the white-robed god to a deserted area.
The white-robed god stopped in his tracks and waved his hand. A golden pillar of light descended from the sky, enveloping both him and Lilith.
The pillar of light dissipated.
Lilith opened her eyes to find herself standing inside a magnificent palace.
The palace was vast, with a soaring vaulted ceiling. Glowing gemstones were embedded in the walls, and the floor was paved with pristine white marble. A faint fragrance lingered in the air.
In the center of the palace stood a massive fountain. The water was crystal clear, with several golden leaves floating on its surface.
Beside the fountain stood a round table made of white jade, accompanied by two chairs.
The white-robed god walked over to the table, sat down, and pointed to the chair opposite him.
“Sit.”
Lilith didn't stand on ceremony. She walked over, sat down, and glanced around.
“Is this your house?”
“In a manner of speaking,” the white-robed god replied calmly. “It is one of my residences in the God Realm.”
“One of them?” Lilith arched an eyebrow. “Are all you gods this wealthy?”
The white-robed god glanced at her but did not respond.
He raised his hand, and a spread of tea and refreshments appeared out of thin air on the table.
He poured two cups of tea and pushed one toward Lilith.
Lilith picked up the teacup, gave it a sniff, but did not drink.
She set the cup down and met his gaze with her red eyes.
“I think it’s time you told me about the origins of that sword.”
She smiled and pointed toward the white-robed god’s chest.
“After all, you were stabbed by it. You must have felt the energy within it, right?”
The white-robed god fell silent for a moment.
He looked down at the bandages on his chest, his expression complicated.
“That sword...”
He spoke slowly, his voice low.
“Its aura is very familiar. It feels like the Primordial God of the God Realm who has been missing for a very long time.”
Lilith frowned slightly.
“A Primordial God?”
“Yes.”
The white-robed god nodded. “One of the first few deities born in the God Realm, named Genesis. He governed creation and life. But he disappeared a long time ago. The God Realm searched for him for tens of thousands of years but found nothing.”
He paused and added:
“Until that day, when that demon, Orosius, appeared with that sword.”
“The aura on the sword is identical to that of Genesis.”
Lilith looked thoughtful and spoke.
“According to the records in our Demon Realm, that World-Devouring Sword was born within the void. It was created through the fusion of a god’s blood and a Void Godstone, then nurtured over countless ages.”
The white-robed god’s eyes narrowed.
“What?!”
He snapped his head up, staring at Lilith.
“You said... a fusion of divine blood and a Void Godstone?”
“That’s what the records say.” Lilith shrugged. “I’m not sure about the specifics. The notes left by the former Demon King only mentioned that one sentence without a detailed explanation.”
The white-robed god fell into a pensive silence.
He lowered his head, his fingers unconsciously tapping the table. His eyes flickered as if he were deep in thought.
Lilith didn't rush him. She helped herself to the tea and snacks.
The white-robed god sighed and rubbed his temples.
“Now it’s my turn to ask. So, who are you?”
“The Demon King,” Lilith answered.
“You are the Demon King?”
“The one and only.” Lilith took a bite of a snack. “What, I don't look the part?”
“You don't,” the white-robed god said bluntly. “I have seen many generations of Demon Kings. They were either majestic and overbearing, sinister and cunning, or cruel and bloodthirsty. None of them were as... leisurely as you.”
Lilith shrugged.
“That just means you haven't seen this generation’s Demon King.”
The white-robed god: “...”
He found himself at a loss for words.
After a few seconds of silence, he spoke again, returning to the main topic.
“If the records of the Demon Realm are true...”
His voice was low, carrying a trace of a tremble that was hard to detect.
“Then Genesis might not have just gone missing.”
He looked up at Lilith and said, word by word:
“He might have... fallen.”
His expression grew increasingly solemn.
“Genesis was the strongest among the Primordial Gods, governing creation and life. If he truly fell, and his blood was used to forge a sword...”
“Then this sword is likely even more dangerous than we imagined.”
Lilith frowned.
“How so?”
“Think about it,” the white-robed god explained. “A god who governs creation and life would have the purest life force contained within his divine blood. Meanwhile, the Void Godstone is the hardest and most bizarre stone found within Void Rifts, capable of swallowing all energy.”
“If the two were fused to nurture a sword, what kind of weapon would it become?”
Lilith thought for a moment.
“One that can swallow life and feed it back to the wielder?”
“More than that.” The white-robed god shook his head. “The divine blood of Genesis combined with the swallowing properties of the Void Godstone... the resulting sword can likely swallow ‘existence’ itself.”
“Existence?”
“Yes.” The white-robed god’s expression was grim. “Anyone killed by that sword will vanish completely from the world. Even the traces of their existence will be erased.”
Lilith’s pupils constricted slightly.
“That’s a bit of an exaggeration. I was killed by that sword once, and I’m perfectly fine now, aren't I?”
“I wouldn't know about that; it’s merely my speculation,” the white-robed god said. “But if it is true, then that sword... must not be allowed to remain in this world.”
He looked at Lilith.
“Where is the sword now?”
“In my hands,” Lilith answered honestly. “However, I’ve already sealed it and placed it in a very safe location.”
“Sealed?” The white-robed god arched an eyebrow. “Are you sure you can contain it?”
“I should be able to.” Lilith thought about it. “I used spatial turbulence as the seal. No matter how powerful it is, it won't be getting out anytime soon.”
The white-robed god fell silent for a few seconds before nodding.
“Spatial turbulence... is indeed a very strong seal. But if it is a sword nurtured by the divine blood of Genesis, it might not be enough.”
He stood up and walked to the window, looking out.
Outside was a sea of clouds, with several floating islands suspended within it. Palaces were built upon the islands, giving them an ethereal, celestial appearance.
“There is a forbidden area in the God Realm called the ‘Eternal Abyss’.”
He spoke slowly.
“It is the end of the God Realm, where time and space are in a state of absolute stillness. Anything that enters the Eternal Abyss will be frozen forever, unable to escape.”
He turned around and looked at Lilith.
“If you are willing, I can take you to the Eternal Abyss and throw the sword inside. That way, no matter how powerful the sword is, it will never come out again.”
Lilith thought about it, then shook her head.
“Not for now.”
“Why?”
“Because I still want to study it,” Lilith said.
The white-robed god frowned.
“Study it? That is too dangerous.”
“I know what I’m doing.” Lilith waved her hand dismissively. “Besides, the sword is sealed right now. Nothing will go wrong in the short term.”
She paused and added:
“As for you, you were stabbed by that sword. How is your wound?”
The white-robed god looked down at the bandages on his chest.
“It’s fine. I’ve suppressed the magic on the sword, but it will take some time to completely clear it.”
Lilith stood up and stretched.
“I’ve asked what I wanted to ask, and you’ve said what you needed to say. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now.”
The white-robed god called out to her.
“Wait.”
“Hmm?”
The white-robed god looked at her and said slowly:
“That sword is too dangerous. If it really is related to Genesis, there might be a much larger conspiracy involved. Although the God Realm and the Demon Realm usually have no dealings with each other, our goals are aligned in this matter.”
He paused and added:
“At the very least, you’re much more pleasant to look at than that Orosius.”
Lilith laughed.
“I like the sound of that.”
She waved her hand and turned to walk toward the door.
The white-robed god watched her back and suddenly spoke:
“By the way, I haven't asked for your name yet.”
Lilith stopped, looked back, and a hint of a smile flashed in her red eyes.
“Lilith.”
She paused, then added—
With that, she pushed open the door and walked out.
