The moment that gray-robed guard shouted the word “demon,” the God rank powerhouses in the sky sensed it.
However, they were in no hurry to join the fray.
High above the God Realm, several figures hovered within the clouds, silently looking down at the scene below.
One of these figures was dressed in white robes. His face was pale, and bandages were wrapped around his chest, with faint traces of blood seeping through. He was the god who had previously fought Orosius and narrowly escaped with his life after being pierced by the World-Devouring Sword.
Beside him, a god wearing golden armor and sporting a full beard was laughing heartily, his voice as booming as thunder.
“Hahaha! Another demon! Why aren't you heading down this time?”
He slapped the white-robed god on the shoulder with such force that the latter’s brow furrowed in irritation.
“Did that last demon scare you so much that you don't even dare to step out now?”
The white-robed god snorted coldly and brushed the hand away.
“Shut up.”
His voice was frigid, carrying clear anger.
“You were too much of a coward to step up back then, so I was the one who acted. If I hadn't stepped in, the God Realm would have suffered even greater destruction.”
The golden-armored god’s smile stiffened, and his expression darkened.
“Who are you calling a coward?”
“Whoever didn't dare to step up is the coward.”
“You!”
The golden-armored god was so enraged that his beard practically stood on end, but looking at the white-robed god’s pale face and the bandages on his chest, he ultimately swallowed his words.
He snorted coldly and turned his gaze downward.
“Just focus on nursing your wounds. I’ll be the one to handle this!”
With that, he gave a grand wave of his hand.
“Men! Follow me down to meet this death-seeking demon!”
Behind him, over a dozen divine generals above Rank 9 shouted their assent in unison, their morale soaring.
The white-robed god watched his departing back, a cold sneer curling at the corner of his mouth.
“Idiot,” he muttered under his breath before closing his eyes, ignoring the rest.
...
Down on the street below.
Lilith watched as the points of light in the sky grew larger, eventually transforming into over a dozen figures that landed before her.
At the head of the group was the golden-armored god.
He stood over two meters tall with a burly physique and a full beard, wielding a massive golden axe that gave him an imposing presence.
Behind him, the dozen or so divine generals lined up, each possessing a powerful aura—all of them were above Rank 9.
Lilith’s brow furrowed.
“So many people...”
“I’m just one person. Is this really necessary?”
Hearing her words, the golden-armored god burst into laughter.
“Another demon who doesn't know her place!”
His booming voice made the surrounding buildings tremble slightly.
“I couldn't handle the last demon, but you think I can't handle you? It seems any demon thinks they can just barge into the God Realm these days!”
As he spoke, he raised his hand, and golden holy light began to gather in his palm.
The holy light grew brighter and more dazzling, eventually forming a golden sphere of light over three meters in diameter that hovered above his palm.
The sphere contained terrifying energy, causing the surrounding air to distort and boil.
“Divine Skill: Judgment!”
The golden-armored god barked the command, preparing to hurl the light sphere at Lilith.
But in the exact moment he was charging his strength...
Lilith suddenly lifted her foot and took a single step forward.
In the next second, she appeared directly in front of the golden-armored god, so close that she could practically count every hair in his beard.
The golden-armored god: “...?”
He froze, not yet reacting to what had happened.
Immediately after, Lilith raised her right hand and slammed a fist directly into his face.
BOOM!!!
A dull, heavy impact echoed.
The expression on the golden-armored god’s face shifted from arrogance to bewilderment, finally settling into a mask of agonizing distortion.
He was sent flying backward.
Whoosh!!!
He crashed through the entire block, finally embedding himself deep into a clock tower before finally coming to a halt.
The clock tower swayed, and the large bell at the top fell with a loud clang, landing perfectly on his head.
DONG!!!
The melodious chime of the bell echoed throughout the entire street.
The scene fell into a dead silence.
The dozen divine generals, as well as the ordinary members of the god race watching from a distance, all stood with their mouths agape.
They looked at Lilith, their brains unable to process what had just happened.
Just now... what happened?
That demon... just sent the Lord God flying with a single punch?
Lilith retracted her fist.
“Charging up for that long... do you think I'm stupid?”
She looked up at the remaining divine generals.
“What about you?”
Lilith raised her hand, magic gathering at her fingertips.
“Do you want to come at me all at once?”
The divine generals: “...”
They looked at each other, then at the smoking figure in the distant clock tower, and collectively took a step back.
“No... no need...”
One divine general swallowed hard, his voice trembling as he thought to himself, That punch nearly killed a God rank. For those of us just above Rank 9, stepping up would be pure suicide.
The divine generals began talking over one another, making all sorts of excuses as they backed away, wishing they could disappear instantly.
Lilith looked at them, finding the situation almost comical.
“Since we’re not fighting, I have a few questions.”
She paused and added, “Answer them well, and I’ll let you go. Answer poorly...”
She brandished the magic at her fingertips.
The divine generals nodded in unison, like chickens pecking at grain.
“Ask! Please ask! We will tell you everything we know!”
Lilith nodded with satisfaction.
“First question.”
She looked toward the distant clock tower.
“That bearded guy—what kind of god is he? How strong is he?”
A divine general hurried to answer.
“He... he is the Golden-Armored God, responsible for guarding the borders of the God Realm. His strength is... Primary God rank.”
“Primary God rank?” Lilith arched an eyebrow. “That weak?”
The divine generals: “...”
They didn't dare to argue, only offering fawning smiles.
“Yes... he is a bit weak...”
Lilith nodded and continued.
“Second question.”
She looked up at the sky, where several figures still hovered, including the white-robed god.
“Those ones up there—what gods are they? How strong are they?”
Another divine general replied.
“Up there... there is one god who fought that other demon before. His strength is Mid-tier God rank. The remaining few are all Primary God rank.”
Lilith gave an “oh” of understanding. Now she had a better idea of their power.
The other gods were average, but the white-robed god who could trade blows with Orosius and escape alive was likely not weak.
“Third question.”
Lilith looked at the divine generals, a trace of seriousness flashing in her red eyes.
“In your God Realm, are there any legends about Forging a Sword with Divine Blood?”
The divine generals were stunned.
“Forging a Sword with Divine Blood?”
They looked at each other and shook their heads.
“No... never heard of it...”
“Divine blood can be used to forge swords?”
“I've never heard that legend...”
Lilith frowned.
Never heard of it?
Could the records of the former Demon King be wrong? Or was this legend only known to the high-ranking officials?
As she was thinking, a furious roar suddenly erupted from the distant clock tower.
“You bastard!!!”
The Golden-Armored God crawled out from the ruins, still wearing the large bell on his head, looking both ridiculous and wretched.
He ripped the bell off his head, his face livid and his beard quivering with rage.
“You... you actually... dared to sneak attack me!”
He pointed at Lilith, his finger trembling.
“I will kill you!!!”
With a roar, brilliant golden light erupted from his body. He transformed into a golden meteor, charging toward Lilith.
Lilith watched him with a cold face.
She shifted the direction of her finger toward the Golden-Armored God.
“Since you insist on fighting...”
Before she could finish her sentence, a massive slash flew out.
The Golden-Armored God saw Lilith’s finger and sneered, raising his massive axe.
“A mere trick!”
Then, the Golden-Armored God vanished.
The area fell into a dead silence once more.
The divine generals looked at the massive trench that had been carved into the ground, their legs turning to jelly.
Just... just what kind of monster was this?!
Lilith slowly raised her head and looked toward the sky.
“You few up there.”
She spoke; her voice wasn't loud, but it reached everyone’s ears clearly.
“Since you’re already here, why not come down and talk?”
Within the clouds, the figures remained silent for a few seconds.
Then, the white-robed god slowly descended, landing in front of Lilith.
His face was still pale and his chest was still bandaged, but his gaze was calm.
“Demon.”
He spoke in a cold voice.
“What exactly is your purpose for coming to the God Realm?”
Lilith looked at him, curiosity flashing in her red eyes.
“So you're the god who fought Orosius?”
The white-robed god’s expression darkened.
“Yes.”
The white-robed god was silent for a few seconds before slowly speaking.
“He nearly killed me.”
Lilith nodded.
“Then he really is quite strong.”
She paused and added nothing more.
He stared intently at Lilith for a few seconds.
“I think I have an idea of why you're here.”
He turned to look at the divine generals behind him.
“All of you, disperse.”
The divine generals, feeling as if they had been granted a grand pardon, hurriedly bowed and scrambled away.
The white-robed god looked back at Lilith.
“Follow me.”
He turned and began walking toward the center of the city.
“There are some things that aren't convenient to discuss here.”
Lilith arched an eyebrow and followed him.
