Chapter 85 · Volume 1

God Realm

After Lilith obtained the location of the God Realm from Veen, she immediately set off for it.
When Lilith stood on the streets of the God Realm and watched the god race passing by, she felt a bit bewildered.
The members of the god race before her certainly looked the part—dressed in magnificent robes, carrying themselves with elegance, and speaking with refinement—but as for their strength...
Lilith quietly released her perception, scanning the surrounding crowd.
She rubbed her eyes, wondering if her perception was malfunctioning.
She scanned them again.
She was right. They were all Rank 9 or just above Rank 9; there wasn't even a single person at the God rank.
“What’s going on?” Lilith muttered to herself.
“Shouldn't the god race in the God Realm start at the God rank? Why are there Rank 8s and Rank 9s?”
She shook her head; if she couldn't figure it out, she wouldn't dwell on it.
But soon, her eyes turned cold.
Someone was monitoring her from the shadows.
This gaze had been present since the moment she arrived in the God Realm.
Lilith gave a cold snort and closed her eyes.
Massive mana spread out from her as the center, like invisible ripples scanning every inch of space and every corner.
She quickly locked onto her target.
High up in a distant building, a figure wearing gray robes and a hood was releasing mana to monitor her.
“Found you.”
A cold smile curled at the corners of Lilith’s mouth.
In the next second, her figure flickered and she vanished from the spot.
...
At that moment, on the high building, the gray-robed man frowned as he sensed the mana fluctuations, calculating in his mind.
“A demonic aura... Though faint, it is definitely a demon. And they aren't weak—at least above Rank 9.”
“Should I report this?”
“I'll observe a bit longer...”
Just as he was thinking, he suddenly felt his neck tighten.
A hand reached out from behind, grabbing him by the throat and lifting him off the ground.
“Ugh...!”
The gray-robed man struggled, trying to break free, but the strength in that hand was absurdly high, gripping his neck so tightly that even breathing became difficult.
He looked up and met a pair of red pupils.
“Who are you?”
Lilith spoke in a soft voice, but it carried an unquestionable authority.
The gray-robed man struggled a few more times and found it impossible to break free, sending a wave of shock through him.
“What incredible strength! I can't even budge!”
He was, after all, someone with strength above Rank 9, considered a minor expert at the borders of the God Realm, yet in this hand, he was like a little chick—completely powerless.
Lilith watched the gray-robed man struggle, gradually increasing the pressure in her hand.
Crack...
His bones made a faint sound.
The gray-robed man turned pale, knowing that if he didn't speak now, his neck would be crushed.
“I... I'll talk! I'll talk!”
He spoke hurriedly, his voice raspy from the suffocation.
Hearing this, Lilith released her grip.
Thud.
The gray-robed man fell to the floor, clutching his throat and gasping for air.
“Speak,” Lilith said coldly. “Why were you monitoring me?”
The gray-robed man took a few breaths before managing to speak with difficulty.
“Be... because I sensed the demonic aura within you...”
He paused, glanced up at Lilith, and then quickly lowered his head again.
“A few days ago, a powerful demon descended upon this place. He caused a massive scene here, killing several divine generals and heavily wounding a god. In the end, the God King himself had to step in to resolve the matter...”
“So the God Realm is under martial law. We border guards have been stationed everywhere to monitor for any demon infiltrators...”
Lilith’s brow furrowed slightly.
Orosius?
She had heard about the trouble he caused in the God Realm, but she hadn't expected the God Realm's reaction to be so extreme that even the borders were under martial law.
“Fine, you can go.”
She waved him off and turned to leave.
Since he was just a border guard, there was no need to make things difficult for him. Now that she had the information, it was time to look for clues regarding the World-Devouring Sword.
But the moment she turned around...
A look of ruthlessness flashed in the gray-robed man's eyes.
He lunged to his feet, and the aura within his body erupted!
His strength above Rank 9 was released without reservation, and powerful energy fluctuations spread out from him as the center, causing the surrounding buildings to tremble slightly.
At the same time, he tore his throat open, shouting with all his might:
“Someone come quickly! There’s a demon here! She’s very strong—we need a God rank expert!!!”
His voice was like a thunderclap, instantly echoing throughout the entire area.
Lilith was startled and whipped her head around.
“You!”
She raised her hand, and an invisible slash instantly took shape, flying toward the gray-robed man.
Splat.
Before the gray-robed man could even scream, his body was sliced into countless pieces. Blood sprayed everywhere, staining the ground red.
But it was already too late.
The word had been sent out.
Lilith looked up at the sky.
The originally pale gold sky began to twist and swirl, and points of light emerged from within the clouds.
Those points of light expanded rapidly, transforming into figures that hovered in the air, looking down at her from above.
