Chapter 50 · Volume 1

The Chaotic Situation

Thud! Thud!
Except for Liu Zhian, this was the fate of the thousand soldiers remaining in the military camp, including Zhuge Ming.
Their eyes lost focus, and they collapsed like wheat in the wind.
Liu Wen absorbed all thousand-plus strands of white mist, his face twisting with greed at the sight of this massive bounty.
Just as he was about to swallow it all, a cold voice suddenly sounded in his ear: “Liu Wen, remember our agreement.”
The sudden voice instantly dispelled Liu Wen's greed, and cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
In a respectful tone, he said, “Yes, I will definitely remember our agreement.”
With that, he absorbed about a hundred strands of spiritual energy, leaving the other nine hundred stored in his body.
After doing this, Liu Wen looked around but saw no sign of Zhao Jin. What kind of method is this? Even with my spiritual power, I can't detect that person watching me.
His wariness of Zhao Jin grew even deeper.
A moment later, his expression returned to calm, and he walked deeper into the military camp.
On the other side, Zhao Jin stood outside the Church of the Earth Mother, quietly watching the building.
He didn't care about Liu Wen's petty tricks, as long as the objective was achieved.
If the other party really harbored any forbidden thoughts, he could always find someone to replace him.
A minute later.
Inside the military camp's holding cell.
Liu Zhian looked at the collapsed soldiers, and hearing the approaching footsteps from outside, a sneer spread across his face. “Idiots. If you hadn't captured me, you might not have died.”
“Zhian, you did very well. You gave me the opportunity to harvest those soldiers.” A raspy voice came from around the corner as Liu Wen's figure appeared outside the cell.
Seeing Liu Wen appear, a smile broke out on Liu Zhian's face. “Grandfather, you're finally here. They're monsters. I was almost shocked to death.”
Liu Wen extended his left hand, and his translucent spiritual power twisted the cell door before him.
Screeech!
The cell door let out a harsh, grating screech as it was ripped open by sheer spiritual power.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The chains binding Liu Zhian's hands and feet snapped. Liu Wen clasped his hands behind his back and said calmly, “Next, you just need to move these bodies near the church. Tonight will be the battle that marks the Liu family's debut in the Nanming Kingdom—no, on the world stage.”
He still remembered what had happened to the Butcher.
Now that he had wiped out the biggest threat to him in one fell swoop, their subsequent actions would proceed without any obstacles.
“I understand, Grandfather,” Liu Zhian nodded.
The two walked outside.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
When they reached Zhuge Ming's corpse, the phone on his body was ringing incessantly.
Liu Wen glanced at Liu Zhian, who immediately squatted down and pulled out the phone.
The screen displayed an incoming call from Team Leader Zhang. Liu Zhian answered, and Zhang Yi's voice came from the other end: “General Zhuge, check the artillery units again. You are our backup plan. There must be no mistakes.”
Liu Wen reached out and took the phone, saying in a sinister tone, “With that voice and name... are you Zhang Yi?”
On the other end of the line, Zhang Yi fell silent.
Seeing that Zhang Yi didn't speak, Liu Wen sneered, “Zhang Yi, your arrangements are meticulous, link after link. If an ordinary faction faced you, they would probably feel despair, not knowing how to break your setups. Unfortunately, you met me. In the face of absolute power, all your schemes and conspiracies are utterly laughable.”
Beep! Beep! Beep!
On the other end, Zhang Yi hung up, his face grim. The garrison was wiped out just like that, without a sound?
Hearing the voice, he had already guessed that the other party was Liu Wen.
Ever since he found out that the Liu family was the driving force behind the Church of the Earth Mother, he had reviewed all of the family's files, including recordings of Liu Wen's voice.
Then, as if suddenly realizing something, he dialed Wang Pingcheng directly.
“Hello...” Wang Pingcheng had barely spoken.
Zhang Yi interrupted him. “Don't wait any longer! Mobilize the armored units immediately and demolish the church at all costs! Hurry!!!”
With that, he hung up and dialed Peng Fei.
On the other side.
On a street two kilometers away from the Church of the Earth Mother.
Vroom! Vroom! Vroom!
The roar of engines drowned out the sound of rain as tanks and armored vehicles occupied the street.
At the very front were three camouflage-colored bulldozers and two excavators.
“Check the machinery! Don't let me down at the critical moment!” Standing beside the armored vehicles, Wang Pingcheng immediately shouted after receiving the call.
All the inspectors responsible for keeping watch on the Church of the Earth Mother had been wiped out, and he hadn't received a single update.
An officer walked over quickly, saluted Wang Pingcheng, and said rapidly, “Chief Wang, all vehicles are ready. Aside from a dozen or so armored vehicles that haven't arrived yet, we have seven tanks and three armored vehicles on site!”
“Move out! Don't wait for them. Flatten the church directly! You are authorized to shoot to kill if you encounter any resistance!” Wang Pingcheng ordered.
He quickly ran toward a nearby law enforcement vehicle. For Zhang Yi to lose his composure like this, something unexpected must have happened.
He drove the law enforcement vehicle to lead the way.
Rumble!
The bulldozers in front started up, following the law enforcement vehicle toward the church.
All the vehicles behind followed, their deafening roar echoing down the entire street.
Behind them, hundreds of soldiers in raincoats closely followed the vehicles, their faces filled with murderous intent, ready to fire at a moment's notice.
At the corner of the street, a man wearing a black raincoat that covered his face watched this scene unfold.
He turned and left quickly, entering a room in an alleyway a hundred meters away.
“The Nanming Kingdom's armored units have mobilized. They seem to be planning to demolish the Earth Mother's church!” As the man spoke, he pulled back his hood, revealing a white face.
Inside the room, two people were sitting.
The leader was a white youth in his thirties with braided hair.
Hearing his subordinate's report, he stood up. “Order all agents to gather around the Church of the Earth Mother immediately and wait for an opportunity!”
“Captain, we must be careful with this operation. According to our information, the existence of supernatural forces in Ningcheng is an established fact. We must be extremely cautious when facing this unknown!” Beside him was a middle-aged Black man in his forties.
They belonged to the Coalition, the strongest power in the Western Continent.
Unlike the vast Nanming Kingdom, the Coalition was an alliance formed by all the countries of the Western Continent.
“I know. If we can bring back some supernatural items this time, it will be worth it even if we lose many men!” The braided white youth stood up and walked outside.
Barry from earlier was in one of his teams. He hadn't expected them to lose contact so quickly after arriving, which made them hesitant to act rashly.
The middle-aged Black man followed him to the door, watching the two of them leave.
Just then, he suddenly noticed a tall, dark figure following behind the two.
“What on earth is that?” The middle-aged Black man muttered in confusion, pulling out his phone to zoom in.
But as he zoomed in, his breathing quickened, and his eyes widened. “A monster?”
On his phone screen, a monster over two meters tall, covered in black fur and with horns on its head, was trailing right behind the braided youth and his companion.
The two of them seemed completely unaware of the monster following them.
As he stared at the monster on his phone, the creature seemed to sense something and suddenly whipped its head around, its glowing red eyes locking onto the Black man.
Staring at this terrifying monster, even though the middle-aged man was a veteran agent, he couldn't help but take a step back in sheer horror. “It saw me!”
Whoosh!
The clear image of the monster on his phone screen suddenly vanished.
Seeing this, the middle-aged Black man turned and bolted. Ningcheng was simply too bizarre.
The heavy rain soaked his clothes as he ran forward in terror.
Only after making several sharp turns in the alleyways did he look back. Confirming that nothing was following him, he was about to sigh in relief.
“Baa!” A shrill bleat of a sheep echoed right behind him.
