“Thank you for your generosity.”
After thanking Ellie, the young elf girl tried her best to calm her emotions. She then spoke in a gentle tone to the hydralisk in front of her. “Could you please follow me?”
The hydralisk did not respond.
However, Ellie smiled and said, “Just give them orders directly. They will absolutely obey whatever Her Majesty the Queen commands them to do. Since she has agreed to your employment, you can issue any order you wish.”
“Is... is that so?”
Although she had already prepared herself mentally, the young elf was still profoundly shocked to hear Ellie say this.
...
Back at the main hive, Xia Jin’s original body had just returned.
She already knew what was happening there through the mental network.
“These elves really are beauties, every last one of them.”
They were even more beautiful than descriptions in many works of fiction.
Xia Jin admitted she was judging by appearances, but so what? She was the Zerg Queen now; couldn't she do whatever she pleased?
The 250 zerglings followed the elf into the Glowing Forest.
After more than half an hour of high-speed travel, the large group soon reached the core area of the forest.
The path was lined with wooden houses where various elves lived, blending perfectly with the surrounding environment.
This natural scenery gave Xia Jin a favorable impression of the race's aesthetic sense.
“Welcome, neighbors.”
A blonde elven woman standing on a wooden platform spoke to the zerglings and hydralisks before her.
Many elves, both young and old, stood around curiously. When their gazes fell upon the hideous insects, fear still flashed uncontrollably in their eyes.
“How terrifying. Are these the collaborators Her Majesty mentioned?” a young elf girl asked nervously.
“Don't be afraid. Trust Her Majesty's judgment,” Vigaya comforted her.
The insects were led to an area on the east side of the elven territory's core, where each was assigned a wooden house to stay in.
It seemed the elves' treatment of the insects was quite good; not only did they provide the same type of housing, but they even sent over many delicious fruits.
“We aren't sure if you eat fruit. The elven race is mostly vegetarian and rarely eats meat, so our meat reserves are insufficient. However, we do raise some beasts that were originally intended for trade with the leopards. We will let you enjoy them now.”
A significant amount of cooked food was brought in.
The zerglings stepped forward and began to eat the food amidst the nervous expressions of the elves.
“Phew, they're just like pets, even if they look fierce,” a young elf said, patting her chest.
“Shh, keep it down. They might understand you. If you treat these beings who call themselves Zerg as ordinary cats or dogs, you're finished. These guys are true killing machines.”
The two elves walked away amidst quiet whispers.
While the insects were resting after their feast, a slightly older elf arrived at the scene.
“Please follow me.”
As if they possessed human intelligence, the insects rose almost simultaneously.
“They really can communicate.”
The young elf showed a look of surprise.
Generally, if a magic beast was below Tier 6, its intelligence was very low. It would be impossible for them to understand language like the Zerg did.
The elf girl led the 250 insects away from the area, heading toward the western side of the Glowing Forest.
About twenty minutes later, a cave came into view.
The insects followed the elf inside, traveling down winding paths. After about half an hour, they were suddenly attacked by a group of spiders.
The hydralisks immediately spat out viscous acid, melting many of the spiders into thick liquid.
The sight made the young elf's heart tremble with fear.
Seeing more spiders rushing up, she drew her bow and fired a light arrow into the distance.
Accompanied by an explosion, six or seven spiders the size of wolves were blown to pieces.
The zerglings immediately launched a charge, counterattacking the spiders.
Since the targets were not of a high tier, the battle was a completely one-sided victory.
“Let's keep moving. A bit further ahead is the underground world. We elves have been fighting dangerous enemies there.”
The elf girl suppressed her internal shock and continued deeper.
The swarm followed. Not long after, a vast, boundless area appeared before their eyes.
Despite being called the underground world, one could surprisingly see the sky by looking up.
A city with a strong elven style stood at one side of the exit. Many elves stood atop it on patrol, fighting a group of invading, strange humanoid figures.
Upon seeing this, the swarm clearly became restless.
They immediately understood what they were supposed to kill. After receiving confirmation from the elf girl, the large force instantly launched a charge toward the enemy.
Swarms of monsters rushed toward their targets like a tide.
Through the vision of the insects, Xia Jin saw what the enemies looked like.
They had wings similar to a lizard's and a single pointed horn on their heads, yet they were unable to fly and fought with crude equipment.
The elves mostly stayed within the city, firing arrows downward. Whenever a monster managed to rush up, it often left the elves in a state of frantic disarray.
“What kind of creatures are these?”
Xia Jin wondered to herself.
It wasn't until the insects charged into the group of monsters and began wreaking havoc that she breathed a sigh of relief.
“They aren't very strong.”
If one had to say why the elves couldn't hold them back, it was mainly due to their sheer numbers.
The elves were few in number. Once approached, they were forced to use more taxing defensive magic, which greatly reduced the time they could hold out.
Several elven corpses could already be seen.
For their race, even the loss of a single individual was considered a massive blow.
