Chapter 342 · Volume 1

Shield

Over the next ten days, five Floating Transport Ships were hatched one after another.
Several of these vessels left the surface of Insect Guard 1 and began orbiting the planet at a constant speed.
This flight itself consumed no energy.
On the ground, the Hive Carrier continuously hatched more queens. Two of the Floating Transport Ships then transported them to Planet Dawn to accelerate the pace of laying down creep.
On the home planet, the Zerg also conveniently wiped out the remaining forces on Haipuai Island.
This process was essentially effortless.
With that done, the only thing remaining on Xia Jin’s mind was the big guy in the Mist-covered zone.
From space, the Mist-covered zone appeared as a hazy blur, making it impossible to detect the ground.
This was the result of the intersection of energy between the Abyss and this world.
The insects the Zerg had sent into the Abyss now held a position of absolute dominance over the demon legions. The subsequent offensive could be described as a leisurely stroll; they only advanced one city every couple of days, focusing primarily on cultivation around the Abyss Canyon.
Under Xia Jin’s instructions, demon schools were even opened in the Abyss to accelerate the growth of the demons... in short, it was truly diabolical.
“There really hasn't been much to do lately.”
Rolling down a slope, she bumped directly into an elf bug sitting nearby. Xia Jin reached out and hugged her.
“Soft.”
Elf bug: “...”
This insect, which had been fused with elven genes, was a bit shy.
But the Queen’s actions made her extremely happy.
She really wanted to hug the tiny Queen.
However, Xia Jin closed her eyes and entered a state of hibernation.
Even if she didn't need to sleep, she still could. During this process, her projections could still perform their respective tasks, which was very convenient.
...
Meanwhile, in the skies above Planet Dawn, another transport ship’s worth of insects was released.
Thanks to the preliminary use of subspace inside the ships, combined with the fact that insects could be packed relatively tightly together, a single transport ship could carry at least 2,000 insects.
Currently, the Zerg ships were still relatively small. The Hive Carrier was only 300 meters long, and the Small Leviathans were even smaller, at just over 100 meters. However, this scale was quite suitable for the Zerg.
Because each ship's individual combat power was still weak, making them too large would mean the loss would be unbearable if one were destroyed.
The 2,000 newly arrived insects were all queens.
Upon landing, these creatures immediately entered the nydus worms hidden in the vicinity. Through various “tunnels,” they traveled to other parts of the planet to lay down creep.
Planet Dawn was the same; although it was far from being developed as quickly as Insect Guard 1 and lacked sufficient sunlight, its surface area was large enough. Together, they could generate more energy than Insect Guard 1.
After that, the transport ship heading for Planet Flame flew for another ten days or so before finally capturing the clearest images of the planet's surface. This included analysis of the temperature, material composition, and even the core.
The conclusion was that the Swarm could barely withstand it.
This made things easy.
This ship had already been carrying a batch of insects. By landing directly on the surface, they could immediately start laying creep and then evolve a Hive of Level 7 or higher. This would be enough to withstand the environment there and allow the site to continuously absorb energy.
Once the creep on several planets was fully spread, the Hive could quickly advance to the next level.
During this time, Brain Bug No. 1 focused all its efforts on decoding the data from the fat rocket.
The end result was a significant advancement in the organ structure of the Zerg's biological fusion devices.
To put it simply, they became more energy-efficient.
Furthermore, during this period, the attempt to combine magic shields and Abyss power with the Zerg's current force field shields had failed. However, a blessing in disguise emerged: a new type of Abyss magic shield.
This was a standard energy shield, using magic elements to condense into a thin energy shield that covered the ship.
When struck by an enemy, the magic shield would manifest.
Compared to the ones used by the elf bugs, this had reached the strength of starship shields.
“Energy shields are a relatively advanced technology. According to the normal development cycle, the Hive would have needed at least several more upgrades to achieve this.”
Brain Bug No. 1 seemed very satisfied.
The Zerg's progress was too rapid.
Although this was only the beginning, it was already foreseeable that under the control of this generation's Queen, the Zerg would become powerful beyond imagination.
