After Zuo Lin'an and Xu Youyou boarded the vehicle, they found a couple of random seats and put away their luggage before starting to observe their surroundings.
Aside from the two of them and the driver, the vehicle was completely empty.
They exchanged a glance, said nothing, and just sat there quietly.
The vehicle spent the next half of the day stopping and starting, picking up five more passengers along the way.
Unlike the two students, the five people who boarded later were all adults.
One of them had boarded at the foot of an office building.
Dressed in a sharp suit, he looked like a typical office worker. However, the heavy dark circles under his eyes made it obvious that his company had squeezed him to his absolute limit, and he simply couldn't take it anymore.
He had probably thrown in the towel right there in his office, walked downstairs, and boarded this very vehicle.
With the two of them, there were now seven passengers in total.
The driver turned the vehicle around and gradually picked up speed. It seemed everyone had been picked up.
So, were they heading to the training base now?
Zuo Lin'an looked out the window. As the vehicle drove on, the towering skyscrapers and bustling traffic gradually receded, replaced by vast stretches of farmland.
Eventually, they drove straight into the deep, old forests of the mountains.
Zuo Lin'an frowned but said nothing. They had applied to go to Sin Hunter City, which was a gathering place for death row convicts—essentially a prison.
Naturally, such a place had to be in a remote location.
For convenience, this training base was highly likely to be located near Sin Hunter City.
Sure enough, after driving for about two hours, Zuo Lin'an spotted something appearing in the distant, dense forest... a city wall?!
Xu Youyou nudged him with his elbow.
“Look!”
“I see it,” Zuo Lin'an replied.
Hearing their movement, the other five passengers also looked over.
It was indeed a city wall.
It actually gleamed with a metallic luster, looking highly high-tech. The wall was also incredibly tall, easily around fifty meters high. As they drew closer, he had to tilt his head all the way back just to see the top.
He carefully observed the area enclosed by the wall. Perhaps... it was about the size of a normal city?
Was this Sin Hunter City?
Giving death row convicts such a massive place to live?
Wasn't that a bit too generous?
Before he could observe any further, the vehicle made a turn ahead and headed in another direction.
Only then did Zuo Lin'an realize they weren't going straight into the city.
That made sense.
That place was highly likely Sin Hunter City itself, somewhere they weren't yet qualified to enter.
They had to undergo training first.
The vehicle drove along a wide road through the dense forest, circling the distant city wall for over half an hour!
Only then did Zuo Lin'an see rows of pure white buildings. Looking closely, he could also make out some activity fields, though they didn't look like basketball courts or soccer fields.
While Zuo Lin'an was lost in thought, the vehicle pulled over to the side of the road.
The driver opened the door.
“Get off. I hope you make it.”
Zuo Lin'an and Xu Youyou exchanged a glance, stood up together, and dragged their luggage off the vehicle along with the other five.
Without a moment's hesitation, the vehicle drove straight off, quickly disappearing behind the thick trees.
“Welcome to the dungeon boss training base. Please follow me.”
The speaker was a woman dressed in professional business attire. She had a stern expression, looking very businesslike and difficult to approach.
However, her tone was relatively calm, so she probably wouldn't make things difficult for them.
Zuo Lin'an and the others followed her. Even Xu Youyou uncharacteristically shut his mouth and kept quiet.
However, two of the passengers walked at the very back, whispering to each other.
“Are those two at the front wearing school uniforms?”
“Yeah, those are Lingyang First High School uniforms. They probably had terrible grades, so they came here to gamble with their lives.”
“True. After all, once you enter Sin Hunter City, there are only two outcomes: success or death. Unless they back out and leave before they enter the city.”
“How long is the training period again?”
“No idea. But from what I know, it seems you can apply to enter the city early.”
