Chapter 64 · Volume 1

The Robbery

Sabiba was kicked directly into the ground, the impact causing the earth to crack in every direction. He spat out a mouthful of blood, his face instantly turning pale.
Nan’s kick was far too brutal. Sabiba felt as if his internal organs had been jolted out of place, and several of his bones were definitely broken.
Was this the gap between them?
Indignation and fury welled up from the depths of his heart. He tried to crawl out of the pit to charge at Nan again, but the moment he rose, a golden blade was pressed against his neck, freezing him in place.
He felt himself locked onto by a Divine Sense. If he made even the slightest move, that golden blade against his throat was no joke.
Zhang Ye emerged from the nearby soil with a mischievous grin.
“Don’t move now. I’m telling you, blades don’t have eyes.”
Sabiba was stunned. Why was there an armored hero hiding in the dirt?
Sensing that Zhang Ye’s mana fluctuations were only at the peak of Tier Seven, Sabiba let out a cold sneer. “You think you can kill me?”
Zhang Ye nodded. “I can. Your mana is currently in disarray, and you’re heavily injured. Plus, my sword is already at your throat. If you try to circulate your mana, I’ll feel it immediately and take your head off with one swing.”
“This sword of mine is a pseudo-Saint artifact. You don’t actually think your neck is harder than a pseudo-Saint artifact, do you?”
He wasn’t bluffing; this sword really was a pseudo-Saint artifact—he had borrowed it from Lina.
Zhang Ye’s words left Sabiba speechless.
It was true. Although Zhang Ye’s mana was only Tier Seven, in this situation, let alone a Tier Seven, even a Tier Six could make him submit!
“Hand over the Soul Essence Lamp!” Zhang Ye demanded.
Sabiba grit his teeth. “In your dreams!”
Zhang Ye shrugged. “I’m just going through the motions. The lamp is right there on your waist anyway; I’ll just take it myself.”
As he spoke, he reached out and stripped the Soul Essence Lamp belt right off Sabiba.
Sabiba: “...”
Sabiba was so furious that the veins on his forehead were throbbing. Unfortunately, Samanra and the others were locked in a heated battle with Nan in the sky. Nan’s combat strength was so ferocious that he was suppressing both of them at once; they couldn’t spare a single thought for him.
He had been too careless!
After snatching the lamp, Zhang Ye turned his gaze toward Sabiba’s space ring.
As a genius of the Wind Spirit family, this guy surely had countless treasures. Even if he didn’t, he certainly wouldn't be short on money.
Zhang Ye pondered. Since he had already taken the lamp, should he take the space ring too?
He was currently using Leona’s money, and even this magic jacket had been bought for him by her. Technically, he owed Leona tens of millions; those three sets of magic gear were incredibly expensive!
If he robbed this guy’s space ring, he might be able to pay her back.
However, as soon as the thought arose, Zhang Ye snuffed it out.
He took the lamp because this was a competition to fight for the top three freshman spots—that was reasonable and fair.
But if he took the space ring, the nature of the act would change.
He had his principles. These people had no personal grudge against him. Taking the lamp was enough; there was no need to take the ring and make a mortal enemy out of them.
Thinking this, he gave a sly laugh. “Alright, you just stay here and sleep for a bit.”
Upon hearing this, Sabiba sneered.
Sleep for a bit?
You say sleep and I just sleep? Wouldn’t that make me lose fa—wait, what are you doing?
Then, under Sabiba’s terrified gaze, Zhang Ye’s fist grew infinitely larger.
Meanwhile, in the sky...
“Cross Sky Wind Blade!” Samanra shouted through gritted teeth. Countless cross-shaped wind blades condensed and shot toward Nan.
Nan used mana to sustain his flight, his speed not slowing in the slightest. The purple blade in his hand slashed repeatedly, unleashing dozens of lightning blade lights that boomed against Samanra and Sacra.
The three of them were so preoccupied with their battle in the sky that they had completely ignored the Gold Rock Beast on the ground.
But that fellow wasn’t panicked at all. He didn’t even run. Instead, he stretched out his pangolin-like body on the ground, resting his head on his hands and crossing his legs, watching the show with great interest.
Samanra’s beautiful brow furrowed tightly.
Why hadn't Sabiba come back up yet? Could he have actually been kicked to death?!
This Nan from the Thunderclap family was simply too strong. Even with Sacra, she was no match for him. If Sabiba didn’t come to support them soon, they really wouldn’t be able to win.
Taking advantage of a gap after pushing Nan back, she glanced toward the ground. However, she didn’t see Sabiba anywhere; his aura had completely vanished.
Huh?!
Where was Sabiba?!
Where did such a big Sabiba go?!
Samanra didn’t have time to think further because Nan was already charging at her again. She had to focus everything on him.
If this continued, she would have no choice but to use her pseudo-Saint artifact.
But her opponent was the young master of the Thunderclap family; he surely had his own trump cards. Even if it came to that, she might not necessarily come out on top.
Damn it!
Lina was a bit nervous, hugging and petting Gujiu incessantly.
Why wasn't Big Brother Ye back yet?
In the next instant, Zhang Ye emerged from the side with a face full of smiles.
“Big Brother Ye!” Lina said urgently. “How did it go?”
“Success!” Zhang Ye laughed, holding up the Soul Essence Lamp belt.
Lina nodded, her small face filled with excitement, though Zhang Ye looked a bit disappointed.
“That kid is too poor. He only collected a little over a thousand soul essences. Well, I guess it’s better than nothing.”
Lina nodded and then asked, “What about Sabiba?”
“He’s sleeping soundly,” Zhang Ye said.
By now, Sabiba had been knocked unconscious by Zhang Ye and bound with mana, unable to cause any trouble.
Zhang Ye then looked up into the air and asked, “What’s the situation now?”
Lina replied, “Nan is very powerful. Samanra and the other girl are no match for him.”
Zhang Ye stroked his chin and nodded. “It’s about time to make a move.”
Saying this, he instructed Lina, “Stay here and don’t run around. If anything goes wrong, get away immediately, okay?”
“Um... what about you, Big Brother Ye?” Lina asked.
Zhang Ye shook the pseudo-Saint artifact in his hand and laughed. “Nothing is going to happen to me, don’t worry.”
In the sky, Nan used Thunderclap Flash again, slashing toward Samanra. The overwhelming power of that strike made Samanra’s face turn solemn.
She couldn’t wait any longer.
“Wind Spirit — Surge!” With a sharp shout, a terrifying current of air erupted from Samanra’s body. That blast of air actually sent Nan flying several hundred meters away, neutralizing his Thunderclap Flash.
After unleashing this big move, Samanra’s face turned several shades paler. She immediately prepared to flee with Sacra.
She felt there was no need to fight to the death over a single Gold Rock Beast; it wasn't worth it.
Besides, she had no idea where that idiot Sabiba had run off to.
However, in the next instant, countless golden chains suddenly materialized around her, binding her and Sacra mid-air.
Even Nan, who had just flown back, had his arms and legs locked by golden chains!
Everyone was horrified. They hadn't expected a third party to intervene at this moment. Furthermore, the strength of these chains had actually reached Tier Ten; they couldn't break free at all!
Tier Ten?!
Was there a Tier Ten among this year's freshmen?
Or was it a pseudo-Saint artifact?
But why had there been no mana fluctuation as a precursor?
This meant it wasn't a pseudo-Saint artifact at all, but rather someone had instant-cast this Tier Ten spell.
To be able to instant-cast a Tier Ten spell, the person must be an existence above Tier Ten!
This was, of course, Zhang Ye’s doing.
He had copied the Tier Ten spell, Pseudo · Holy Light Shackles, from that pseudo-Saint artifact. After copying it, he gained Perfect Mastery over it and could cast it instantly, locking everyone down!
He even bound Bolabo, who had been enjoying the show on the ground.
Bolabo: “Gah???”
After meditating for a few seconds to refill his mana, Zhang Ye walked out with a smile.
“Yo, everyone’s playing? Mind if I join in?”
“I’m a pretty slick mage!”
Samanra: “...”
Sacra: “...”
Bolabo: “...”
Nan: “...”
Everyone was utterly bewildered. Was this Tier Ten spell his work?
The problem was that the mana fluctuations from this kid weren't even Tier Eight. How could he possibly instant-cast a Tier Ten spell?
Activating a pseudo-Saint artifact was even more impossible!
Could it be a scroll?
But the laws of this secret realm didn't allow the use of scrolls!
Zhang Ye slowly pressed his hand down, and the three of them were forcibly pulled to the ground, bound by the Holy Light Shackles.
“Who are you?” Samanra asked with a cold face.
Nan didn't speak, but he stared at him expressionlessly.
Zhang Ye could feel that Nan’s killing intent was off the charts right now.
Once the chains were released, this kid would definitely be the first to try and hack him!
Feeling a little scared, Zhang Ye instant-cast another Holy Light Shackles, binding everyone even tighter.
Everyone: “...”
Fine, this Tier Ten spell really was cast by this kid.
Though they didn't know how he did it, the fact remained.
“Who am I?” Zhang Ye fell silent for a moment, then said in a low, melancholy voice, “I’d like to know that too...”
“Who am I? Where am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going?”
Everyone’s faces were covered in black lines. This kid wasn't answering the question seriously at all.
After finishing his dramatic act, Zhang Ye coughed and then said, “Alright, let’s get down to business. Now... it’s a robbery!”
“Hand over all the Soul Essence Lamps you’ve got!”
Everyone: “...”
You can literally instant-cast Tier Ten magic, yet you’re out here mugging people?!
Where is your dignity as a powerhouse?!
“Impossible!” Samanra said coldly.
Zhang Ye curled his lip. “If you don’t hand them over, I’ll just take them myself. No need to be so aggressive.”
As he spoke, he leisurely walked up to Samanra and, right in front of her face, unfastened the Soul Essence Lamp belt from her slender waist.
Samanra: “...”
How hateful!
Samanra felt like killing him, but she was currently bound by the Holy Light Shackles. Not only could she not move, but she couldn't even circulate her mana. She was completely helpless against Zhang Ye.
Then Zhang Ye went over to Sacra and unfastened her Soul Essence Lamp belt in the same way.
Finally, he came to Nan.
This kid had a stone face, staring intently at Zhang Ye.
Although he was expressionless, the killing intent swirling around him was so turbulent that Zhang Ye’s brow twitched.
This kid is so fierce.
But what had to be robbed still had to be robbed.
Holding the three Soul Essence Lamp belts and looking at the shining lamps on them, Zhang Ye nodded.
After harvesting another wave later, he should be firmly in the top three!
Wahahaha!
Big Nana, get ready to kiss me!
