The stitched-face weirdo sprinted across the playground, a mob of people hot on his heels.
His clothes whipped in the wind as he ran with all his might, but the crowd behind him was just as fast.
“Stop chasing me! I really don't know anything!” the weirdo's voice echoed through the night sky.
The people behind him didn't slow down.
“You don't know? Then why are you running?!” the man at the front of the pack roared.
“Hand over the secret, and we'll let you go!”
“What secret am I supposed to hand over?!” The stitched-face weirdo was close to tears. “He didn't tell me a thing! He just leaned in and pretended to whisper something, but he didn't actually reveal anything! Can't you see? He's just diverting the disaster to me!”
The transmigrators sneered. They knew full well that the weirdo was likely telling the truth and that Yue Shi hadn't told him anything.
But there were others to deal with Yue Shi; their job was simply to catch this stitched-face weirdo.
The weirdo was eventually cornered against a wall.
He stopped, turned around, and leaned against the wall, panting heavily.
Several transmigrators surrounded him, blocking every possible exit. Some were already cracking their knuckles, preparing to use torture to extract a confession.
“Get a grip, all of you!” The weirdo's voice trembled. He was unable to clear his name and hated Yue Shi to his core.
“Speak,” a transmigrator said, stepping forward. “Tell us the long-haired guy's secret.”
“Agh! Are you all idiots?!” the weirdo's voice became increasingly shrill and frantic.
“Think about it! If I really knew something, would I still be here letting you chase me—”
Before he could finish, dozens of people lunged at once, raining punches and kicks down upon him.
He didn't die; after all, he was a being of the True God rank, so he wasn't that easy to kill. He simply lay on the ground, covered in blood. Several of the stitches on his face had snapped, revealing the greyish-white dead flesh beneath.
“Drag him back. We'll interrogate him slowly,” a transmigrator said, pulling back his fist and wiping the blood from his hand, looking refreshed.
Many of them were simply using the opportunity to vent their negative emotions.
...
Meanwhile, elsewhere.
Near the dormitory building, another group was lying in wait.
Crouched behind bushes and hidden in the shadows of corners, dozens of eyes watched the stone path illuminated by the streetlights.
“This is the only way back to the dorms. We must block him here!” a young man in a leather jacket whispered, the blade in his hand glinting coldly.
“No matter how powerful he is, he's only one person. There are so many of us—what's there to fear?”
The expression of another transmigrator nearby wasn't quite as certain. “But can we really beat him? You all saw what happened when he killed the Wave Messenger. We couldn't even see how he moved.”
The young man in the leather jacket huffed. “That was because the Wave Messenger underestimated him. If we all attack together, he'll have to think twice no matter how strong he is.”
“Why does he get to enjoy so many privileges?” another voice hissed from the corner, teeth gritted in anger.
“He doesn't have to worry about food or housing, his card never loses points, and he can enter the library whenever he wants.”
“And what about us? we work ourselves to the bone reading in the library every day. If we fail, we get slashed; even if we pass, we can barely save any points. Housing costs money, food costs money, and treating injuries costs money!”
“It's not fair! It's just not fair!”
“Exactly! We have to find out today why he gets special treatment!” someone agreed.
The streetlights shone on their faces, revealing their unconcealed rage, greed, and envy.
Why could Yue Shi live so easily while they had to struggle just to survive in this godforsaken school?!
A raging fire of resentment burned in the hearts of the transmigrators.
They had to capture Yue Shi and torture the secret out of him!
“Watch out, he's back!” someone whispered a warning.
Everyone's gaze simultaneously focused on the end of the path.
Under the lights, a slender figure was approaching at a leisurely pace, cradling a snow leopard cub in his arms.
“Don't waste words. As soon as he gets close, strike!” the young man in the leather jacket ordered softly, tightening his grip on his knife.
The others nodded with cold smiles, ready to pounce. Various spells and weapons were all aimed at the approaching figure.
With so many True God rank beings attacking at once, no matter how powerful Yue Shi was, he would surely be captured.
Yue Shi walked slowly toward the dormitory, his gaze sweeping over the surroundings as a wicked smile touched his lips. His steps were steady, as if he were completely oblivious.
“Move!” the young man in the leather jacket roared.
In an instant, countless control-type spells poured out simultaneously, crashing toward Yue Shi like a torrential rain of colors.
Piu~
Yue Shi vanished from the spot, instantly teleporting to the entrance of the dormitory.
The attacks aimed at him were deflected by spatial force, redirected toward the dormitory's main doors.
Some transmigrators reacted quickly enough to retract their attacks.
Others could only watch helplessly as the dormitory doors were smashed to pieces. Glass shattered, and the entire set of doors collapsed with a thunderous crash, kicking up a cloud of dust.
The scene fell into a deathly silence.
The ambushers stood frozen, their expressions shifting from ferocity to bewilderment, and then to pure terror.
“Destroying school property... care to guess what the punishment is?” Yue Shi asked them airily.
In the next second, those who had damaged the dormitory doors were simultaneously struck by slashes.
A group of people had hands and feet severed. Blood sprayed everywhere as screams of agony rose one after another.
The dormitory manager stepped out of the guardroom, holding a registration book. She walked to the shattered doors, squatted down to inspect them, and carefully checked the extent of the damage.
After finishing her inspection, she clapped the dust off her hands, turned around, and announced with a stern expression, “Destroying school property. According to the rules, each person is fined 50 points and will receive punishment. The fines will be deducted from your student cards. For those with insufficient balances, it will automatically be converted into a loan.”
The faces of those who had been slashed turned even paler.
A 50-point fine, loans, interest, a vicious cycle... these words swirled in their heads like a swarm of buzzing flies.
It was over. Some who had been managing to scrape by had suddenly fallen below the execution threshold.
Yue Shi raised his middle finger in mockery. “A bunch of morons. Did you really think I was blind? I could see all of you hiding by the road.”
Those who hadn't attacked and those who had managed to retract their spells stood in the distance, witnessing everything with grim expressions.
Yue Shi had actually used the school rules to counter-kill them!
They felt played and humiliated. After entering this school, their long-accumulated grievances and fury erupted in an instant.
“You bastard!” A creature with a pig's head and a human body, wearing tight red clothes, charged forward with a muckrake. His eyes were bloodshot and foam flecked his mouth as the muckrake glinted with cold light.
He was also a True God, the Demon King GG Pei Qi, who commanded thousands of pig demons. Who would dare act so insolently before him?
As the muckrake swung down, GG Pei Qi's face was distorted with rage, mixed with a hint of excitement.
Yue Shi calmly raised a hand. The pig-headed man suddenly froze, his muckrake suspended in mid-air, unable to move an inch.
