Chapter 445 · Volume 1

I'm Just Biding My Time

“How did you guess?”
The boy’s voice was very soft, and something in those amber eyes was slowly tightening.
Yue Shi looked down at the four puppet corpses lying on the ground and said with an air of mystery, “Just a lucky guess.”
“I’ve encountered other Reincarnators before. Many of the attack methods you use are very similar.”
“I just said it on a whim, but looking at your reaction, I take it I was right? You really are a Reincarnator.”
The boy’s expression shifted through several phases—astonishment, gloom, and irritation—before finally settling into an indefinable, complex look.
He was indeed a Reincarnator, but that had been many years ago.
While struggling to survive in the Lord God Space, he had always been searching for a way to escape the Lord God’s control.
It was difficult—so difficult it was almost impossible. Yet, he had happened to encounter an event of extremely low probability.
During a certain mission, he had entered a Naruto parallel world. Unexpectedly, that world contained a blackened Dragon Aotian transmigrator.
That transmigrator had an incredibly massive cheat. He first used the Blood Skull Gu to sacrifice his own clan to improve his innate talent and aptitude.
Then, he went around burning, killing, and looting, framing others while pocketing all the good stuff for himself. He didn't forget to do his daily sign-ins to allocate points, eventually causing the entire plot world to collapse.
When the world shattered, the boy was swept away by spatial turbulence and accidentally drifted to the Deep Red Continent.
The Deep Red Continent was a very peculiar and alien world, both vast and chaotic, which interfered with the Lord God’s positioning.
The place where he landed happened to be near the Bewitching Beauty Painting Workshop.
After entering the workshop, he used the strange rules on the ship to counter the Lord God, gaining control over the Lord God’s client and constantly fleecing the Lord God for resources.
However, he didn't dare to venture out at will for fear of being detected by the Lord God, so he only controlled proxies to develop his business outside.
For all these years, he had stayed within the workshop to accumulate power, never expecting his entire plan to be thrown into chaos in a single day.
At that thought, the boy’s gaze sharpened like two knives, stabbing directly at Yue Shi.
“You were the one who released the Lord God’s client from the Deep Blue Route laboratory, weren't you?”
Yue Shi nodded calmly, admitting it outright. “Yes, I did it all. What of it?”
“The Lord God was so pitiful; I simply gave Him His freedom. No need to thank me. I’ve always been the type to do good deeds without seeking a reward.”
The boy was driven to a frustrated laugh, his expression turning sinister as clear hostility surfaced on his face. “Stop acting like some saintly white lotus!”
“Do you have any idea how much time I spent getting the Lord God under control? Do you know the price I paid to fleece Him for those resources?”
“You know nothing! All you know how to do is destroy things!”
Faced with these accusations, Yue Shi maintained an expression of being indifferent like a chrysanthemum.
The boy’s fingers tightened in anger as countless invisible threads stretched into dangerous arcs around him.
“How have you still not realized the gravity of the situation! You have no idea what a terrifying existence the Lord God truly is!”
“Now that the Lord God has locked onto this world, He won't just retaliate against me; He will become interested in this miraculous world itself.”
“He will dispatch Reincarnators, wave after wave, until He has thoroughly mapped out every bit of information about this world, turning it into just another dungeon under His command.”
“When that time comes, the Deep Red Continent will be nothing more than a movie or a manga in the eyes of the Reincarnators, and everyone in the world will become NPCs...”
At this point, his voice suddenly cut off, as if he had been choked by something.
Yue Shi looked at him without a shred of guilt, even offering a cutting smile. “So? Are you blaming me?”
The boy’s lips moved. “Who else is there to blame? Me?!”
Yue Shi said as if it were the most natural thing in the world, “Exactly. It is your fault. You are the one primarily responsible.”
“If you hadn't come to the Deep Red Continent, how would any of this subsequent trouble have started?”
“As a Reincarnator, you ran into someone else’s world to stir up trouble, imprisoned a Lord God’s clone, and went on a looting spree. Now that you're about to be counter-killed, you're the one acting aggrieved~”
“When you chose to counter the Lord God, you should have considered the consequences. You can't expect to be allowed to commit evil yourself while forbidding others from retaliating.”
Yue Shi didn't feel the slightest bit guilty saying this. It was just like when he was committing evil in Jinlong Continent and the Investigation Bureau shot an arrow at him, nearly killing him.
He had always believed that was a normal reaction. Since he committed so much evil, it was only right for the people of the Investigation Bureau to hate him.
That hatred was his badge of honor.
As a villain, Yue Shi always had a clear understanding of his own malice.
He would never claim that a victim’s act of revenge was wrong or sinful. Much less would he take it for granted that a victim shouldn't retaliate.
He would simply send the avenger on their way along with everyone else to eliminate any future trouble.
The boy’s face turned ashen, his lips pressed into a thin line, and his jawline tightened sharply. “You let the Lord God go and caused my location to be exposed! Almost all the preparations I’ve made over the years have gone to waste!”
“What does that have to do with me?” Yue Shi shrugged, his tone biting.
“It's not like I made you hide here. Your suffering wasn't caused by me. If you make a mess, clean it up yourself. Don't go trying to smear it on others.”
The boy’s breathing became rapid, his chest heaving violently. The threads around him danced wildly like a nest of provoked snakes.
Yue Shi’s tongue was poisonous, and the boy was so incensed that his features distorted, leaving him speechless.
Then, he smiled.
The smile came with extreme abruptness, shifting from gloom to radiance in less than half a second.
“What are you laughing at?” Yue Shi asked curiously.
The corners of the boy’s mouth curled up, the sinister look on his face vanishing as he said playfully, “Take a guess. Why would I be willing to talk so much nonsense with you? Why would I be willing to give you so much information? Is it because you're good-looking?”
“I am indeed good-looking,” Yue Shi instinctively accepted the compliment before immediately realizing something.
The boy’s laughter rumbled from his throat, growing louder, more exuberant, and more ghoulish.
“There's no such thing as a free lunch. I was just biding my time!”
“You didn't actually think the workshop was safe enough for you to come and go as you please, did you?”
“You idiot, you weren't invited!”
The moment the words fell, heaven and earth shook.
The entire world began to tremble. The sky swayed, the ground heaved, and the distant forests surged in waves along with the earth. The outlines of the mountains became blurred, looking like a painting soaked in water.
Then, countless chains lunged out from nowhere.
From beneath the ground, from the sky, from deep within the woods... chains emerged from every possible corner, coiling toward Yue Shi.
Yue Shi recognized those chains at a glance. They were identical to the ones that had bound the Lord God in the laboratory.
He instinctively evaded, his silhouette weaving through the chains with fluid, graceful movements.
But the chains grew more numerous and more dense.
He raised his hand, and a spatial rift slashed toward the nearest chain.
The chain snapped at the blow.
However, the two severed halves of the chain immediately transformed into two new ones.
