Chapter 442 · Volume 1

One Against Four

“You have a good eye, Excellency.”
Multiple voices rang out simultaneously.
Following that, four figures appeared around Yue Shi. A middle-aged man, a bald man, a short-haired woman, and a glamorous, beautiful woman surrounded Yue Shi from different directions.
The executive snorted coldly and walked toward the four with a triumphant air. No longer submissive, the look he gave Yue Shi was filled with contempt.
“You idiot.”
“Why do you think I led you in so obediently? Do you think the core members of the Deep Blue Route are just any old riffraff you can meet whenever you want?”
“This is the Bewitching Beauty Painting Workshop, and these four are the true helmsmen of the Deep Blue Route. Every single one of them possesses power beyond your imagination.”
“And you just waltzed in right behind me. How should I describe you? I truly doubt your intelligence.”
The four others also laughed.
“Walking right into the net,” the short-haired woman said dismissively.
“How many years has it been since I saw something that didn't know the height of the heavens? To dare enter the Bewitching Beauty Painting Workshop alone and think you can cause us trouble?” The bald man’s voice was like a great bell.
The middle-aged man waved his hand and spoke to the executive. “You may step back for now. Continue recruiting and rebuild the group.”
“Yes. I wish you all a pleasant time.” The executive bowed, his posture humble.
He turned, preparing to leave.
Yue Shi raised his hand and snapped his fingers.
Snap.
It was a very soft sound.
The executive’s footsteps came to a halt.
Both of his hands severed at the wrists, the cuts perfectly smooth.
The severed limbs fell to the ground, still moving, fingers twitching like a fish out of water.
Then his legs were severed as well.
The parts below his knees detached cleanly from his body, causing him to pitch forward and slam his face into the ground.
He wanted to scream, but no sound came out. The pain was so intense that his vocal cords could not vibrate; he could only roll around on the ground.
The smiles on the other four’s faces froze.
“Even when beating a dog, one must consider its master. You are being a bit too dismissive of us, Excellency.” The short-haired woman’s voice was as cold as ice.
“It is simply that you are not worthy,” Yue Shi said calmly.
The short-haired woman choked on her words.
“Stop talking nonsense and just kill him,” the bald man roared.
The four moved at the same time.
The middle-aged man held one hand high, and a ball of light appeared in his palm. The light expanded rapidly, turning into a thin disc that spun at high speeds with incredible cutting power.
A Destructo Disc was hurled violently toward Yue Shi.
The short-haired woman attacked at the same moment, her figure turning into an afterimage, moving so fast the naked eye couldn't track her.
Her eyes changed from black to red, with three comma-like marks spinning in her pupils. They spun faster and faster, soon merging into a singular, bizarre sickle-shaped pattern.
Mangekyō · Amaterasu.
Under her gaze, black flames ignited in her palm, condensing into the shape of a short blade that she used to lunge at Yue Shi.
The bald man transformed directly into the Hulk, slamming a fist toward Yue Shi’s head.
Finally, the beautiful woman spat out a cloud of mist. Within the mist were countless tiny silk threads that silently wound toward Yue Shi.
Those threads were nearly invisible, yet tougher than steel wire. Once entangled, a person would be shredded into pieces.
The four attacks arrived simultaneously.
Yue Shi waved his hand, and the middle-aged man’s Destructo Disc forcefully changed direction, flying toward the short-haired woman.
The Destructo Disc was too fast for her to react; her short blade of black fire collided with it and exploded.
Boom!
Specks of black fire scattered everywhere, quickly spiraling out of control and burning everything they touched, as if they would incinerate the entire world.
The short-haired woman gritted her teeth and met Yue Shi’s eyes, the sickle patterns in her pupils spinning faster and faster.
Genjutsu!
The bald man’s fist had already arrived. Taking advantage of Yue Shi being caught in the illusion, he smashed his fist squarely toward Yue Shi’s temple.
Unfortunately, Yue Shi was faster. He was already standing behind the bald man, reaching out to gently tap the back of his head.
The tap was very light, as if he were patting a dog’s head.
Yet the bald man’s head was like a watermelon struck by a sledgehammer. It jerked forward as his entire body collapsed. His face slammed into the ground, smashing a crater into it. His limbs twitched a few times, and then he was still.
The short-haired woman screamed as her eyes exploded. As she fell, she was still muttering, “How... the Mangekyō Sharingan’s genjutsu...”
Yue Shi shook his head helplessly. If she had woven a fun illusionary scene, he might have found it interesting and stayed for a few seconds.
But she insisted on tying Yue Shi up to inflict mental punishment. Was Yue Shi the type of person to just take that? He had to break out of the illusion in a second and crush those strange red eyes.
The beautiful woman’s mist had arrived, and the transparent silk threads within the mist wrapped around Yue Shi’s body.
At least, she was the one who thought they had wrapped around his body.
The moment the threads tightened, she saw Yue Shi turn into a mirror and shatter into countless fragments.
Those fragments reflected a blinding light, causing her eyes to flicker for a moment.
That was all it took. When she opened her eyes again, Yue Shi was standing in front of her, less than half a meter away.
She instinctively backed away, but a puddle of water had appeared beneath her feet for some reason.
She stepped into the water and sank right in.
The surface of the puddle seemed small, but the space inside was massive, and there was even a meat grinder placed within.
She screamed, using her hands to prop herself up and pull herself out of the water pit. By the time she succeeded, the area below her waist had almost entirely turned into a meat paste, staining the small puddle a deep, bloody red.
Yue Shi didn't look at her again, turning instead to walk toward the middle-aged man, who was the only one still standing.
The middle-aged man’s face was extremely pale.
He stared at Yue Shi, his lips trembling. He wanted to say something, but he couldn't utter a single word.
In just a few seconds, three of the four had been defeated. And this long-haired man hadn't even looked like he was fighting seriously.
Yue Shi stopped in front of him, his three eyes scanning him back and forth.
“Are you so afraid to show your face? You only sent out four puppets?”
The middle-aged man’s pupils constricted, his breath hitching for a split second as a flash of panic crossed his eyes.
The executive had been rolling on the ground, but even his rolling stopped for a moment. His face covered in blood and his eyes wide, he looked toward Yue Shi.
What did that mean?
Could it be that the four core members he believed in weren't the true core members either?
His lips trembled. Damn it, how many layers of covers did the boss of the Deep Blue Route have!
“What are you talking about? I don't understand,” the middle-aged man flatly denied.
Yue Shi snapped his neck in one motion. “If you don't understand, then just die.”
Seeing this scene, the executive fell into utter despair.
However, his body squirmed as he crawled to Yue Shi’s feet, loudly begging for mercy.
“Don’t—don’t kill me, My Lord! I’m on your side!”
“I was the one who brought you here! Those offensive things I said just now... I was forced to say them!”
Yue Shi remained silent. Had this man’s character persona collapsed? He hadn't seemed this afraid of death before.
“I beg you to spare my life. I’m willing to be a cat or dog by your side...”
“Shut up!” Yue Shi shouted in shock.
“Why don't you go take a look at yourself in a mirror?”
“Are you as cute as a kitten or puppy? How dare you insult them by trying to associate yourself with them?”
