The entire floor had been completely transformed. Massive amounts of beeswax filled the space, sticky and nauseating. Cracks spiderwebbed across the floor, oozing putrid fluids that gathered into foul-smelling streams.
The bookshelves had collapsed. Hexagonal cells constructed from beeswax held numerous victims, frozen in various poses of agony as if recounting silent screams and terror.
Zhu Qunqing no longer needed to lead the way, but Ling Xun continued to prop him up, effectively restricting his movements.
Strange sounds drifted from a utility room at the end of the third-floor corridor.
Wei Siqi held her breath, approaching with cautious steps. The door was slightly ajar, allowing a sliver of light to reveal the scene inside—
A beautiful figure was... desecrating a corpse.
It was the Bee Woman, but she seemed to have lost her mind. Wei Siqi shone her phone’s light on the woman’s face, but she didn't react at all. She simply swung her arms frantically, each strike landing precisely on the corpse on the ground.
Those corpses were mangled. From the twisted expressions remaining on their faces, it was clear they had suffered incredibly malicious torture before they died.
Without a moment's hesitation, Wei Siqi prepared to move in and finish her off.
“Wait!” Zhu Qunqing suddenly shouted.
That shout didn't just startle Wei Siqi; it also alerted the mindless Bee Woman. She spun around like a trapped beast scenting an intruder. Instinctively, she exploded with incredible speed and power, launching an attack.
Standing at the doorway, Wei Siqi was closest to the Bee Woman and was caught off guard by this sudden development. She shot a fierce glare at Zhu Qunqing and quickly adjusted her stance. Relying on her extensive combat experience and agility, she barely managed to protect herself from injury.
The Bee Woman’s assault was sharp and violent. Every strike seemed to carry her full strength, showing a complete disregard for her own safety.
The two engaged in a fierce clash. Every collision was accompanied by the sound of whistling air and flying dust.
The others quickly realized that this Bee Woman’s strength and danger level far exceeded those outside.
In the relatively narrow space, Ling Xun held his gun but didn't dare pull the trigger, fearing he might accidentally hit his ally.
Yue Shi, Zhong Mo, and Fang Jianxin stood a bit further back. They had originally intended to step forward and help subdue the Bee Woman, but a single sentence from Zhu Qunqing made all three stop in their tracks, deciding to observe a little longer.
“Stop fighting!” Zhu Qunqing’s weak voice carried a hint of anxiety as he roared at Wei Siqi. “Don't hurt her yet! I have a way to talk her down!”
“Are you joking?” Wei Siqi snapped back.
The Bee Woman seemed provoked, becoming even more ferocious and frenzied. Wei Siqi was fully focused on the struggle; if she stopped now, she would undoubtedly be severely injured.
“You’re really falling back into your old habits!” Ling Xun squeezed Zhu Qunqing’s arm tightly, giving a cold, thin-lipped smile.
Zhu Qunqing looked away guiltily, then turned to look at Yue Shi and the other two as if in a fit of pique. “What are you just standing there for? Get over here and help!”
“How should we help?” Zhong Mo asked coldly.
“I don't know what kind of riddles you two were speaking earlier, but I can see you have a disagreement. As officials, you’d better reach a consensus. I’m happy to help, but I don't want to be blamed or face trouble afterward.”
Wei Siqi: “Everyone together, kill this thing!”
Zhu Qunqing: “No!”
Their voices came one after the other, their attitudes diametrically opposed.
Zhu Qunqing said, “Xiao Rui is pitiful. She endured too much malice to become like this. Give me a little time; I might be able to wake her up and guide her back to the right path.”
Xiao Rui was clearly the Bee Woman’s name when she was still human.
Wei Siqi laughed in anger. “What kind of daydream are you having? She has completely turned into a supernatural. You still want to save her? Since when were you such a bleeding heart?”
“No, becoming a supernatural wasn't Xiao Rui’s intention. She has been resisting the erosion. As long as there is a glimmer of hope, we shouldn't give up on her. We should try our best to save her,” Zhu Qunqing said righteously.
“Hypocrisy!” Ling Xun sneered from the side. “You’ve told so many lies that you’ve started to believe them yourself, haven't you? Do you really think we can't see through your little scheme?”
“I don't know what you’re talking about.” Zhu Qunqing blinked his small eyes.
A flash of contempt crossed Ling Xun’s face. “Your supernatural power is unique, so you think highly of yourself. That’s normal; anyone would feel that way. You fancy yourself a child of destiny, the protagonist of the era, falling for every pretty face you see. Usually, I wouldn't care, but how dare you play this game during a mission?”
“This isn't the first time, is it? Your brain short-circuits whenever you see a beautiful woman. Even if they’re your enemy or opponent, you start acting all flirtatious. That out-of-control female transcendent last time—she was slaughtering innocents everywhere. You had the chance to kill her outright, but because she was pretty, you held back at every turn. You even hid her in your own home! In the end, things spiraled out of control, and the Director had to step in to clean up your mess.”
“The abnormal situation in this school suddenly worsened to this degree, and I find it hard not to suspect you. Why haven't you learned your lesson? All that ‘don't give up’ and ‘save her’ talk is just an excuse. So many innocent people died miserably outside, yet I didn't see you risking your life to save them. Why dress up your lust as something noble and make us share the risk with you?”
Zhu Qunqing shook his head. “Is that all I am to you? Someone so shallow?”
Ling Xun: “Are you not?”
Yue Shi listened with great interest to this drama of a protagonist wanting to add a beautiful female villain to his harem. Wei Siqi, however, was losing her patience. She roared, “Can you stop with the nonsense and get over here and help?!”
Zhu Qunqing remained stubborn. His body was injured, but his mouth was fine. He kept calling out, “Xiao Rui, wake up! The people who bullied you are already dead...”
He spoke with earnest concern, and the others were able to piece together the sequence of events from his words.
To put it simply: a young girl who suffered from school bullying had darkened and sought revenge.
Zhu Qunqing’s babbling actually had some effect. The Bee Woman shifted from a state of frenzy to a state of emotional collapse. Wei Siqi seized the opportunity. Countless stalks of withered yellow straw drifted down, slamming into her body.
The Bee Woman’s movements became sluggish, as if she were carrying a weight of a thousand pounds. No matter how she moved, she couldn't shake off the straw.
Only then did Wei Siqi manage to catch her breath. She complained, “She’s too fast and keeps jumping around. Restricting her was no easy task.”
