Ah-Lan’s eyes brightened even more! Working for their keep! For many refugees who had nothing but their physical strength or wilderness experience, this was a godsend!
It meant that even if they had no valuables to exchange for Star Coins, they could earn the right to live here through labor!
“This is a great idea!” Ah-Lan couldn’t help but exclaim. “Many refugees aren't actually lazy; they just don't have stable opportunities or channels to exchange for survival resources.”
“If they can trade work for a place to stay and food, many people will be willing!”
She could almost foresee how attractive the Terminal Station would be to the bottom-tier refugees in the Ruin Zone and even the edges of the Outer City, provided it offered a safe residence, a stable source of food and water, and the opportunity to work for their keep!
This might even change the survival patterns of some people!
Su Wan waved her hand, signaling that she could go rest or make her own preparations.
Ah-Lan bowed respectfully and turned toward Room 104. She needed to tell Ah-Hao the good news and plan how to act after the Death Tide passed.
Watching Ah-Lan leave, Su Wan returned to the window.
Outside, the Death Tide still surged, but her thoughts had already drifted to the time after the tide receded.
Spread news through Ah-Lan, attract the first batch of relatively controllable tenants, complete the Novice Quest, and unlock the Mission Board.
Then use the Mission Board to post jobs, further filtering and stabilizing the tenant group while collecting resources for herself and helping explore the outside world.
Then leverage the advantage of traveling between two worlds, bringing cheap supplies from her original world to exchange for high-value resources in the apocalypse, growing herself and the shelter...
A clear, snowballing development path gradually took shape in her mind.
“System,” Su Wan called out in her mind, “pull up the current building status and tenant information.”
A translucent blue panel expanded in her field of vision, clearly listing various data:
【Bound Building: Terminal Station Shelter】
【Current Status: Safety Zone fully active, Absolute Defense in effect (resisting Death Tide erosion).】
【Unlocked Rooms: 102 (Host), 104 (Tenant-001/002), 112 (Tenant-003/004).】
【Existing Facilities: Convenience Store (Basic), Star Coin Exchange Machine.】
【Current Tenants: 4 (3 new tenants).】
【Tenant Status Monitoring: Normal (Viper's vital signs are stable, heavily injured).】
【Points Reserve: 6,610 points. (Note: 10 points deducted for treating Viper)】
【Pending Quest: Shelter Beginning to Take Shape (3/5 new tenants, incomplete).】
Two more new tenants to go.
Su Wan’s gaze fell on the “Points Reserve.”
After a moment's thought, she pulled up the building materials list in the Basic Exchange Module.
She had previously unlocked doors, windows, flooring, and simple furniture.
Now, perhaps she could make some preparations for the potential new tenants.
She selected the Standard Security Door & Window, the simple wooden bed, and the simple table and chair set.
Then, she targeted the remaining vacant concrete shells on the first floor—Rooms 106 and 107.
If Ah-Lan really could bring new tenants, there had to be basic conditions for them to move in immediately.
An empty concrete box had limited appeal, but a room with a bed, a set of tables and chairs, and a lockable door was completely different.
“Exchange for two sets of Standard Security Doors & Windows, two sets of simple beds and table-chair sets, and install them in Rooms 106 and 107. Exchange for one set of simple bed and table-chair set and install it in Room 103,” Su Wan ordered.
【Exchange "Standard Security Door & Window" × 2, Points consumed: 60.】
【Exchange "Simple Wooden Bed" × 3, "Simple Table and Chair Set" × 3, Points consumed: 90.】
【Designated installation locations: Room 106, Room 107, Room 103.】
【Installing... Installation complete.】
【Current Points: 6,460.】
Silently, at the end of the first-floor corridor, brand-new dark grey metal doors appeared in Rooms 106 and 107, which previously had only empty doorframes.
Inside Room 103, on the rough concrete floor, a bare but sturdy wooden bed and a simple set of tables and chairs also appeared.
Though still meager, it now had the most basic form of a “room.”
Su Wan nodded in satisfaction.
Now, on the first floor, besides the occupied Room 104 and her own Room 102, there were four standard single rooms, the basic single room in 112, and the simple convenience store in 101.
As soon as Ah-Lan returned to Room 104, Ah-Hao approached her.
“Sis, what did the Landlord just say to you?” Ah-Hao asked in a low voice.
Ah-Lan told her brother about the Star Coin Exchange Machine, Su Wan’s request for her to recruit new tenants, and the upcoming Mission Board.
Ah-Hao’s eyes grew brighter as he listened.
“That’s great, Sis!” Ah-Hao suppressed the waves of throbbing pain from his leg.
“Among the people we know in the Ruin Zone, there are quite a few who are honest and hardworking. If we can bring them here, we won’t just earn Star Coins; we’ll also make a good impression on the Landlord!”
Ah-Lan nodded, but then frowned as she looked out the window.
The greyish-white mist of the Death Tide was still churning, and it was still deathly silent outside.
“We have to wait for the mist to clear at the very least, then wait another day,” Ah-Lan analyzed calmly.
“Right after a Death Tide, mutants will pop up in many places, and the refugees will need time to come out of their hiding spots.”
“But... we can start thinking about candidates first.”
The siblings huddled together, discussing the familiar faces they knew in the Ruin Zone in low voices.
Su Wan stood in the corridor, looking at the newly renovated rooms, feeling much more grounded.
Just then, the system prompt sounded:
【Ding! Detected that the Host has renovated multiple rooms consecutively, meeting the basic residential needs of the shelter.】
【Opening “Building Function Planning” suggestion: It is suggested that the Host consider establishing a basic medical station to improve tenant survival rates and the overall value of the shelter.】
【Recommended location: Room 108 on the first floor (larger area, easy to partition into functional zones).】
A medical station?
Su Wan’s eyes lit up.
This was indeed a desperately needed facility.
Refugees struggling to survive in the apocalypse faced injuries and infections as part of their daily lives.
If there was a basic medical point, it wouldn't just save lives; it could also be used to charge high treatment fees.
“System, show me the medical station exchange options.”
Su Wan pulled up the system mall and sure enough, found the newly added 【Basic Medical Station (Standard Configuration)】 under the “Facilities” category.
【Basic Medical Station (Standard Configuration)】
【Basic Disinfection Kit (Alcohol, Iodophor, Cotton Swabs, Gauze) x 10 sets, suggested system retail price: 50 Star Coins/set.】
【Painkillers and Fever Reducers x 5 packs, suggested system retail price: 30 Star Coins/pack.】
【Nutrition Supplement (Basic) x 5 vials, suggested system retail price: 150 Star Coins/vial.】
...
【Basic Anti-Toxin Serum x 5 vials, suggested system retail price: 300 Star Coins/vial.】
【Note: All medicines and supplies meet the “pollution-free” standards of this plane, and their effects are superior to common black market medicines in the Ruin Zone.】
