Chapter 442 · Volume 1

【Roaming Witch】 Adele

“Ah! I feel it! I feel it! This power flowing endlessly through my body! Is this what it means to be an evolved being? No wonder everyone wants it; this feeling is absolutely incredible!”
Under Snow White’s incredulous gaze, Smith’s body expanded until it was roughly five times the size of a normal human.
Curiously, while his torso had swollen fivefold, his legs, though larger, had not expanded to such an exaggerated degree.
The result was a physique shaped like an inverted triangle.
The sudden expansion had shredded his clothes, revealing thick, bulging blue veins across his skin.
In terms of appearance, it was safe to say no one would mistake him for a human anymore.
He looked somewhat like the Hulk, only his skin was a filthy, dingy gray.
But... could this really be considered an evolved being?
A massive question mark appeared in Snow White’s mind.
Boom!
In an instant...
Snow White was sent flying by the impact.
She only managed to come to a halt after smashing through several slender trees.
Pfft—
Sprawled on the ground, Snow White coughed up a mouthful of blood. A glance at her personal profile showed that her health had plummeted into the critical zone. She hurriedly reached for a Life Potion to restore her vitality.
But Smith wasn't about to give her the chance.
He slammed his foot down onto Snow White’s wrist, then leaned over to look at her with a mocking sneer.
“It seems you Witches aren't all that much after all!”
At this moment, it wasn't just Smith’s body that had expanded; his ego had inflated right along with it.
Though he hadn't encountered other witches personally...
And though he had seen other witches fight during the recent tournament...
In his current state as an evolved being, he felt he had absolutely nothing to fear from any witch.
“Look at this! This is the proud Witch race, yet here you are, trampled under the feet of yours truly, who has only just evolved! ‘Number One Race’? ‘Blessed by the world’? It’s all a load of crap! Hahahaha!”
Standing tall, Smith spread his arms and laughed up at the night sky.
He laughed with unrestrained arrogance.
Just then, a woman's voice drifted from nearby.
“Oh my! So you think you’re pretty brave, huh?”
“I’m super brave, you know! Hahaha—urgh...”
Smith, still looking at the stars, shifted his gaze sideways. What he saw was a witch atop a broom, silhouetted against the moonlight.
This witch had long, dark red, side-parted wavy hair. She wore deep blue robes, and an eighth note was pinned to her witch's hat.
She held a small wooden harp in her arms.
Set against the backdrop of the moonlight, her attire made her look both mysterious and mature.
“Adele!”
When Snow White, still pinned to the ground, saw the figure clearly, she immediately remembered who it was.
It was this very witch who had given her and Cinderella the potions, granting them the chance to become witches and giving them the capital to survive in this chaotic world.
Although the current situation was dire, Snow White felt a deep sense of gratitude toward her.
After all, if not for the Witch potion she had provided, they might have died months ago.
Adele, hearing her name called out, hadn't expected to meet someone she knew in such a remote wilderness. She formed a circle with her fingers and peered down at Snow White.
The girl was a stranger, yet somewhat familiar.
After a moment of recollection, she finally remembered.
“Oh, I only came over to check because I heard someone shouting in the middle of the night. I didn't expect to see you. Hmm... I remember now. It's Cinderella!”
“It’s Snow White! You didn't remember me at all, did you?!”
Snow White couldn't help but retort after her name was gotten wrong.
“How is that possible? I was talking about Snow White, who is always with Cinderella. I wasn't wrong.”
Adele shook her head, refusing to admit her mistake.
The conversation between the two sounded quite relaxed, but the person standing nearby was anything but.
Especially Smith, who was still maintaining his star-gazing pose.
“...Hey, newcomer witch. Don't you dare ignore me.”
“Oh, my apologies. I almost forgot about this Mr. Werewolf. In that case, why don't I sing a song as an apology?”
Strum, strum, strum...
Adele plucked the strings of her harp, and a series of melodious notes echoed across the nighttime lake.
“Bastard! Who asked for an apology? And I’m not a werewolf!”
Feeling like he was being played for a fool, Smith’s gray skin began to turn red-hot with rage. Ignoring Snow White beneath his foot, he grabbed a rock from the ground and hurled it at Adele in the sky.
Of course...
As a witch on a flying broom, how could Adele be hit by such a crude anti-aircraft weapon?
With a slight shift of her weight, she easily dodged the attack.
But she didn't stop there. Adele shook her head and looked at Smith with a look of pity.
“Some say that if a Transmigrator undergoes a regression in certain areas after using an evolution item, then their evolution is incomplete—or perhaps it’s even a degeneration.”
“My dear sir, if I’m not mistaken, your IQ may have suffered some indelible and permanent damage. My personal suggestion is that you be hospitalized for observation and treatment.”
“Provided, of course, that the Kalim continent has a neurology hospital or... a psychiatric hospital?”
Adele.
Self-titled as the 【Roaming Witch】, she was the Minister of the Tourism Department of Typhon City. Her daily duties consisted of wandering around outside and occasionally handing out Witch potions when she felt like it.
Compared to the ‘Academy faction’ like Diana, who focused on IQ and scholarship, Adele belonged to the ‘Casualist faction’.
She was the type who would give someone a Witch potion simply because she liked the look of them.
However, if one were to ask what she was most famous for among witches, it would have to be her way of speaking—smiling while hiding a dagger, sharp-tongued enough to drive a person to their grave.
And in fact, the currently arrogant Smith was indeed infuriated by Adele’s words.
He was an evolved being!
A noble evolved being!
Yet this witch had the gall to suggest there was something wrong with his brain?
Bastard! I’ve evolved from a starting character like a Transmigrator into an evolved being!
Do I not deserve the corresponding respect?!
“Bastard! Come down here if you’ve got the guts!”
Unable to reach Adele from the ground, Smith roared at her in impotent rage.
“Me, come down? Are you sure? I’d hate for you to be unhappy once I’m down there.”
Adele looked at Smith with the sort of pitying gaze one reserved for the mentally disabled.
In her eyes, this Smith really wasn't very bright.
After all, only an imbecile would ask an enemy to give up their advantage and fight on the same stage.
“Come down. I won't be unhappy.”
Seeing her respond that way, Smith’s eyes darted as he quickly replied.
