Chapter 308 · Volume 1

I Don't Care

As Yin Yang departed, the Great Qi Demigod glanced at him but did not move to stop him.
There were two reasons for this.
First, before he arrived, this person had been helping to alleviate the pressure on the camp.
This suggested that the individual was likely an ally, perhaps one of those cultist helpers the higher-ups had recruited.
Second, even if he were an enemy...
At a time like this, having one fewer enemy was definitely better than having one more.
Therefore, regardless of the situation, he had no reason to block the man.
However, as Yin Yang fled, he discovered that he was attracting more black line tentacles than the Demigod was!
This realization set his mind racing.
From the very beginning, the number of black line tentacles around him had been increasing.
Whether it was in terms of numbers or energy density, there were better targets nearby, yet these tentacles were fixated on him. Something was clearly wrong.
Was there anything else that had been increasing along with the black line tentacles?
Yes!
The heroic spirits!
Yin Yang looked back and saw that the tens of thousands of Yin souls behind him had not disappeared; they were all waiting to consume their sacrifices.
‘This isn't right. The sacrifices earlier weren't exactly meager. Why haven't they left yet?’
Yin Yang couldn't quite figure it out, but now wasn't the time for puzzles. He needed to make these heroic spirits disappear immediately!
The moment the thought crossed his mind, a heat bloomed between his brows. In the next instant, the tens of thousands of heroic spirits behind him vanished without a trace!
The black line tentacles that had been frantically pursuing him almost all came to a halt. Only a few stray strands continued their chase, which Yin Yang easily snapped with his spirituality.
It was only then that Yin Yang realized those heroic spirits were actually inside his divine kingdom!
Even the heroic spirits he had sent away previously were now within the divine kingdom.
This discovery left Yin Yang in a daze.
‘What is going on?’
‘Do heroic spirits appear in the divine kingdom after enjoying a sacrifice? Is that normal?’
‘It definitely isn't! That's a method for a Sequence 6 to accumulate spirituality, but where would other Sequence 6s get a divine kingdom from?’
With the disappearance of those spirits, the black line tentacles around Yin Yang decreased by ninety-nine percent.
He slowed his pace, took a deep breath, and closed his eyes to sense his surroundings.
He eventually pinpointed a direction—the place where the ‘big black boss’ was stirring things up!
Yin Yang decisively ran in the opposite direction.
He had come to the battlefield to collect heroic spirits, not to seek death.
To hold such a massive sacrifice ritual, the person responsible was most likely a Sequence 4!
Yin Yang even felt that a single Sequence 4 might not be enough to pull this off; it likely required the cooperation of several Demigods.
With a lineup of that caliber, wouldn't he be killed in seconds if he went there?
Forget going there—even getting close wasn't safe.
The people of Great Wei weren't just for show. A sacrifice of this scale would definitely draw high-sequence individuals to investigate.
Based on what Yin Yang knew of the Great Wei army, the arrivals would likely be Sequence 4s.
Going to watch a battle between two Sequence 4s was a death wish.
Just as Yin Yang thought this, he suddenly saw a golden light light up the distant sky, streaking rapidly toward the ‘big black boss.’
The dark clouds were being torn asunder.
...
“The Shadow Lotus descends, all hearts return!”
“The Shadow Lotus descends, all hearts return!”
“The Shadow Lotus descends, all hearts return!”
On a pitch-black mountain, over a hundred Shadow Lotus cultists knelt on the ground, kowtowing incessantly toward the peak.
Their expressions were fanatical, their foreheads covered in blood, yet they continued to strike the ground with every bow.
At the summit, a man also dressed in black robes stood atop a skull altar, performing a grotesque dance.
He was barefoot, and his exposed calves were unnervingly pale, as if coated in some kind of white powder.
As his feet rubbed against the skull altar, streaks of blood seeped out.
The moment the blood appeared, it was swallowed by the skull altar, which then emitted pulses of white light, brightening and dimming like a heartbeat.
Facing the incoming golden light, the elder showed no sign of panic. The smile at the corners of his mouth grew increasingly eerie.
“We've been waiting for you.”
Whoosh!!!
From another direction, a white light also flew toward the mountain. However, it did not tear through the dark clouds, appearing somewhat weaker than the golden light.
Both sides were incredibly fast, reaching the mountain in just a few breaths.
Without a single word of greeting, both sides attacked the moment they met.
The golden light suddenly expanded, transforming into a golden phantom holding paired maces, looking like a god descending to the mortal realm!
The white light condensed even further as a white-browed elder stepped out. He wore a white martial arts uniform, looking as if he had just returned from a morning exercise.
Buzz!
The paired maces in the golden phantom's hands smashed down toward the elder's head. The surrounding wind howled so fiercely that the praying cultists were pinned down by the pressure, unable to lift their heads.
Clang.
The white-browed elder actually caught the paired maces with his bare hands, showing not a hint of strain.
Rumble!
The mountain began to collapse. From the shockwaves of the battle alone, the mountain's structure was already failing.
“Ah!”
“Help!”
“No, no, no!”
The cultists seemed to finally snap back to their senses, wailing for rescue.
But all that greeted them were black line tentacles!
The elder at the summit remained completely unaffected, for his altar could fly!
The skull altar rotated quietly in mid-air. Not only could it fly, but it also shielded him from some of the combat's aftershocks.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
The two clashed repeatedly. The wind blew back the elder's black robes, revealing that his body was covered in white powder, upon which strange patterns were drawn.
“I knew it was you pieces of filth!”
The golden light retreated, becoming slightly more transparent to reveal the goat-bearded elder within.
On the other side, the white-browed elder lightly dusted off his clothes and said,
“Wan Tianqing actually was willing to let his dog out. Isn't he afraid someone will beat it and turn it into hotpot?”
The goat-bearded elder didn't get angry upon hearing this. Instead, he pulled a piece of paper from his robe.
Both the white-browed elder and the black-robed elder grew visibly tense at the sight of the paper.
The goat-bearded elder grinned.
“It seems you both know what this is.”
“First virus warfare, then a sacrifice ritual... aren't the methods of Great Qi a bit too dirty?”
The white-browed elder frowned. “A false counter-accusation? That certainly fits the style of Great Wei.”
“Hmm?”
Though the goat-bearded elder couldn't stand his opponent, he understood the man's character.
Given his personality, he would likely disdain lying. So, what did he mean by a false counter-accusation?
The white-browed elder had clearly noticed something as well. He squinted at the black-robed elder.
“Elder Xu, don't you think you owe me an explanation?”
The black-robed elder let out a strange, rasping laugh.
“An explanation? What kind of explanation do you want?”
“Right now, a Sequence 4 from Great Wei stands before you. As long as we join forces to kill him, the tide of the battlefield will turn in favor of Great Qi.”
“Under these circumstances, do you still need an explanation?”
Hearing this, the white-browed elder turned to look at the goat-bearded man.
The goat-bearded elder smiled faintly and held up the paper in his hand.
“I don't care.”
