Chapter 307 · Volume 1

I Have Fulfilled My Promise to Great Qi

Yin Yang was gradually approaching the Great Qi camp. This wasn’t to save them, but rather to harvest heroic spirits.
It wasn’t as if only Great Wei soldiers counted as heroic spirits; the same applied to Great Qi.
As he drew closer, blurred phantoms began to crawl out from the corpses of the soldiers.
The Great Qi warriors, fighting for their lives, noticed nothing out of the ordinary; after all, not everyone possessed the ability of Spirit Sight.
However, the black line tentacles noticed the anomaly!
They reared their front ends like venomous snakes and surged toward Yin Yang, instantly causing the pressure on the Great Qi warriors to plummet.
Yin Yang didn’t panic at the sight of so many black line tentacles; in fact, he wished there were more of them!
The reason was simple: his ‘battery’ was running a bit low.
The blade-wielding ghost was a magnificent giant shredder, but it was also a massive power hog.
The black line tentacles swarmed forward one after another, only to be sliced apart by the blade-wielding ghost and sacrificed by Yin Yang.
The energy obtained from the sacrifice was then used to recharge the blade-wielding ghost.
It looked like a sustainable cycle, but Yin Yang knew it wouldn’t last long.
The energy gained from sacrificing these black line tentacles was far too meager to sustain the blade-wielding ghost’s combat for an extended period.
Buzz!
Another brilliant flash of blade light erupted, instantly annihilating the dense mass of black line tentacles in front of him.
But the ghost also sensed its own power was waning.
The blade-wielding ghost looked back. Despite the mask obscuring its face, it could tell that Yin Yang was already quite weak.
End this quickly!
The baleful aura on its body withdrew, suppressing its power as it delegated some of the black line tentacles to the Headless Ghost.
‘This isn’t working. The expenditure exceeds the income. If this continues, I’ll eventually be worn down by these black line tentacles.’
Yin Yang didn’t sense any isolation from a sealed object, which meant his Traveler's Badge could be activated.
But he had spent so much time sneaking onto the battlefield; wouldn’t it be a shame to run away now?
This was Yin Yang’s current weakness.
If it were a battle at a fixed time and location, Yin Yang could have set things up in advance and played his enemies to death.
But in a sudden situation like this involving mobile combat, Yin Yang found himself in a difficult spot.
Fortunately, Yin Yang had always been cautious. Long ago, he had anticipated that such a thing might happen.
Therefore, he had prepared some backup batteries for himself.
Yin Yang’s dance movements didn’t stop. Suddenly, several corpses and spiritual materials appeared on the altar and were promptly sacrificed.
The more Yin Yang sacrificed, the more his heart ached. This was the foundation he had worked so hard to accumulate.
‘Crimson Cave crystals, two gold notes.’
‘God Lake fish bones, five thousand.’
‘Sneering Beehive, one gold note.’
‘This isn’t a sacrifice; it’s a literal burn of my wealth!’
As everyone knew, Yin Yang was a very frugal person.
At this moment, he lamented silently that he had been a bit too wasteful before.
If he had known this would happen, he shouldn’t have blown up all the bodies when he was taking revenge on the Li and Qi families; using them for sacrifice would have saved him a lot.
But now was not the time to worry about money. The priority was to collect heroic spirits and then break out!
Buzz!
Yin Yang turned his head and saw the people in the Great Qi camp shining two spotlights in his direction.
Judging by their actions, they actually wanted to provide him with support.
Yin Yang understood. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Since they were both fighting the black line tentacles, he was, in a sense, an ally.
Yin Yang began to move toward them proactively. On one hand, he could get closer to collect heroic spirits; on the other, it would alleviate the pressure from the black line tentacles.
Right then, a golden light shot through the air from the distance!
Yin Yang felt a sense of divinity from that golden light. That was a Demigod—a very powerful Demigod!
Boom!
The golden light landed, and the black line tentacles were instantly reduced to ash!
In the next second, a golden phantom rose from the ground!
The phantom was clad in armor and held a zhanmadao. With one swing, the damage it dealt was comparable to the blade-wielding ghost’s previous attacks!
Boom!!!
The power of this strike was immense, causing the very earth to crack.
The people of Great Qi cheered in unison.
“Hahaha, General Wang is here!”
“Reinforcements have arrived! Brothers, counterattack! Counterattack!!!”
The Great Qi soldiers fought back even more fiercely, though of the original two thousand plus men, only a little over a hundred remained.
The pressure from the Demigod known as General Wang spread out in all directions.
The black line tentacles withered rapidly, as if they had been left to dehydrate under a scorching sun.
Yin Yang decisively put away the altar, the blade-wielding ghost, and the Headless Ghost.
Losing the altar to stand on, he began to free-fall. The lantern-carrying ghost caught Yin Yang firmly with its left hand and then violently hurled him toward the Great Qi camp!
He had no choice.
Yin Yang couldn’t fly.
Just as he was about to hit the ground, two large hands reached out from the darkness to help him land steadily.
The Great Qi soldiers didn’t reject Yin Yang at all. After all, before General Wang arrived, it was this ‘Demigod’ who had been helping them draw the enemy's fire.
Meanwhile, Yin Yang was frantically summoning heroic souls!
He had to admit, there were far more in the camp!
His Perception skill remained active at all times. After all, he wasn't certain if everyone around him was friendly.
This allowed him to actually discover several anomalous individuals.
Ever since Yin Yang arrived, those people had been secretly observing him.
Yin Yang sensed their gazes and spiritual fluctuations, and combined with certain details, he deduced their identity.
These people were from Great Wei!
They were likely spies planted in Great Qi by Great Wei. Based on their strength, they were probably either Baleful Stars or ordinary scouts.
Considering the wanted status of the ‘masked man’ in Great Wei, it was logical that they would be watching him.
After figuring this out, Yin Yang looked directly at an officer and spoke in a voice loud enough for everyone around to hear.
“I have fulfilled my promise to Great Qi!”
As Yin Yang finished speaking, a giant ghost hand appeared beneath his feet. After lifting him up, it hurled him away with great force!
Whoosh!
He came in a hurry and left in a hurry.
Yin Yang vanished into the night just like that, leaving behind a bewildered officer and several spies who were secretly celebrating that they had hooked a big fish.
...
Great Wei temporary camp.
Mr. Yuan’s face was incredibly grim. Just by looking at his expression, Chen Ang knew that his student was likely in a dire situation.
“The attack power of these tentacles doesn’t seem very strong. Why aren’t we going out to eliminate them?”
Hearing Mr. Yuan’s question, Chen Ang replied without turning his head.
“A black cloud capable of covering such a large area won’t have just these tentacles as its only means.”
“Then is it necessary to use a sealed object now?”
“Instead of waiting for large-scale casualties before using a sealed object, it’s better to use it directly. This will not only buy us time to think but also protect our soldiers.”
Chen Ang looked up, his expression growing more solemn.
“Old Yuan, to say something that might dampen our spirits...”
“This matter isn’t something that can be solved by just a few Demigods.”
“I can’t do it, and neither can you.”
Whoosh!!!
As he spoke, a golden light pierced through the dark night, allowing the sunlight to shine down once more.
Chen Ang grinned, his expression finally relaxing a bit.
“The person who can solve it has arrived.”
