Chapter 3 · Volume 1

Who the Hell Pried Off My Log Out Button?

Sima Kong froze, slowly turning his head in disbelief. It seemed that even in death, he couldn't believe this young girl would completely disregard his Foundation Establishment father!
Jiang Ye pulled out the longsword, raised his hand, and brought it down. With a sharp shhhk, a head went flying high into the air.
“H-He... isn't he already dead? Why did you do that?”
In his mind, Bai Zhirou's slightly terrified voice echoed once more. Clearly, this bloody scene was far beyond her threshold of tolerance.
“Beheading. Prevents resurrection.”
Bai Zhirou: “?”
Buzz.
Before she could ask anything else, a familiar warm current surged through him again. It felt so comfortable that Jiang Ye couldn't help but close his eyes and let out a soft groan of satisfaction.
The character's cultivation rank naturally jumped all the way from Qi Condensation Level 1 to Qi Condensation Level 4.
Behind him, the young girls who were just about to step forward to express their gratitude froze mid-step.
They saw Bai Zhirou (Jiang Ye) standing beside Sima Kong's headless corpse with her eyes gently closed.
The blood sprayed all over the surroundings had dyed the walls red, and a few drops of crimson blood had splattered onto her exquisitely beautiful face.
Yet, she wore an expression of extreme pleasure, even letting out a relaxed, comfortable groan.
Coupled with the room full of headless limbs and blood...
...the scene was exceptionally bone-chilling!
The girls, who had been filled with gratitude just a moment ago, instantly huddled together, shivering like frightened quails. They thought to themselves:
“Oh heavens... We just escaped the wolf's den. Are we... are we about to enter a tiger's lair now?!”
Only the tall woman steeled herself and carefully crept forward, asking:
“U-Um, Junior Sister Bai, are you alright?”
She watched as Bai Zhirou (Jiang Ye) slowly opened her eyes, glanced at her, and suddenly began to roll her eyes.
This was because at this very moment, Jiang Ye was frantically searching for the skip button at the top of the game interface, muttering as he searched:
“Can I skip this? I don't want to watch these boring cutscenes.”
But suddenly, he froze.
A drop of cold sweat rolled down his forehead.
“What the fuck? Who the hell pried off my log out button too?!”
The tall woman: “?”
What on earth is wrong with Junior Sister Bai? Did she suffer some kind of mental trauma?
Jiang Ye forced down his chaotic thoughts and calmed his mind to think:
Could it be... the story is still bugged out, so these buttons glitched out of existence?
Bending down with practiced ease, Jiang Ye snatched the spatial ring off Sima Kong's hand, wiped it on his clothes with a look of disgust, and slipped it directly onto his own finger.
Having finished this, he grabbed the tall woman's wrist and dragged her toward the door with large strides:
“Ye Ningning, right? Let's go, let's go! Time to push the story forward and get things back on track!”
Ye Ningning followed behind him, completely bewildered.
The moment he pushed the door open, Jiang Ye immediately engaged the guards outside without a word.
Ye Ningning wanted to step forward and help, but before she could even draw her weapon, she was dumbfounded once again.
She watched as Bai Zhirou glided through the crowd like a ghost with absolute fluidity.
Slide, jump, upward slash, backhand throat stab!
Every move aimed directly at vital points, while all incoming attacks and spells were effortlessly dodged.
Within a dozen breaths, the black-clothed guards lay dead on the ground, completely wiped out.
However, an even more baffling scene unfolded before Ye Ningning's eyes.
After killing everyone, Bai Zhirou didn't stop at all. Instead, she began running and sprinting frantically down the corridor.
What was even stranger was that even though there were absolutely no obstacles ahead, she insisted on jumping high into the air every few steps.
Sprint, jump, land, sprint again, and jump, jump, jump!
While Jiang Ye was running around the house looking for monsters, Bai Zhirou, who had been holding it in for a long time, finally couldn't help but ask weakly in his mind:
“Um, Devil... Lord Devil, is the floor hot? Why are you jumping as you walk?”
Jiang Ye: “...”
“Are AI nowadays actually programmed to roast players?”
An incense stick's time later.
Every single active red-named mob in this small outpost had been cleared out by Jiang Ye.
Ye Ningning and the rescued girls were talking about something in the courtyard.
These girls had long since been frightened out of their wits by the cruelty of the cultivation world. After experiencing this disaster, they no longer dared to dream of cultivation or seeking the Dao. At this moment, they only wished to return safely to their secular hometowns and live out their lives as ordinary mortals, never to cross paths with immortals or gods again.
Ye Ningning sighed and agreed to their request. She scavenged some travel money from the outpost, thoughtfully helped them find a carriage outside, and watched them depart.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ye had no time to watch these cutscenes.
He pulled a reasonably sturdy black horse out of the stable.
Without even asking for Ye Ningning's opinion, he reached out, scooped her up, and set her down forcefully on the front of the horse.
Then, he flipped onto the horse, hurriedly squeezed its flanks with his thighs, and galloped frantically toward the initial spawn point.
Ye Ningning froze completely. Held tightly from behind by Bai Zhirou, their bodies bumped up and down together with the violent jolts of the galloping horse.
Feeling the surprisingly soft and voluptuous pressure pressing against her back, Ye Ningning's entire face flushed bright red, her heart fluttering wildly.
Junior Sister Bai's assets... were a bit too 'up-front and personal'!
After riding for a good while, Jiang Ye finally saw the stone monument with the words “Luopo Village” carved on it. This was the novice spawn point of the game, Tribulation of Ten Thousand Races.
“Finally here!”
He quickly dismounted, rushed to the stone monument in a few strides, and slapped his hand onto it with a loud smack.
And then...
...he froze.
This piece-of-shit stone monument didn't react at all.
“Huh? Why isn't the teleport point unlocking? Does that mean I can't save my game either?”
Jiang Ye's brow instantly furrowed into a tight knot.
Refusing to accept this, he first clawed at the heavily weathered inscriptions on the stone monument, trying to activate the teleport point.
No response.
Next, he took a deep breath, wrapped his entire body around the stone monument, and rubbed his face all over it.
Under Ye Ningning's utterly bewildered gaze, Jiang Ye suddenly went on all fours, completely abandoning any sense of decorum, and scrambled up a three-meter-tall crooked tree at the village entrance like a primate.
A dozen or so passing villagers stared, completely dumbfounded.
“Is this really that Little Girl Bai who usually blushes even when saying a single word?”
“Could she have been possessed by some wild boar spirit...”
Faced with the villagers' pointing and whispering, Jiang Ye chose to ignore them entirely. Who cared what NPCs thought? The player was the center of the game world.
“Take my plunge attack!”
Jiang Ye kicked off the tree branch with force, using the momentum of his fall to stomp down hard on the stone monument.
Thud!
But other than shedding a layer of dust, the lousy stone monument still showed no reaction.
Jiang Ye completely lost his temper. Standing directly on top of the monument, he began stomping on it frantically, yelling as he did:
“Screw your ancestors! Unlock! Unlock already, damn it!!”
In his mind, Bai Zhirou's jaw dropped. If her soul form had a face, she would be screaming: Please don't use my body to do such bizarre things, ahhh!!!
Suddenly...
...Bai Zhirou felt her entire body shudder as the feeling of control returned. However, at this moment, she was standing on top of the stone monument with her foot raised, her hair a disheveled mess, looking exactly like a crazy woman.
And down below the monument...
...Ye Ningning, along with dozens of familiar neighbors, were all staring up at her with wide-open mouths and extremely bizarre expressions.
Inside her mind, Jiang Ye was also dumbfounded:
Holy crap, what's going on? I didn't even use hacks. How did I get kicked offline?
Buzz—
Bai Zhirou froze completely on the spot. She felt all the blood in her body rush straight to her head in an instant, making her feel dizzy.
As a result, she didn't hear a single word of Jiang Ye's voice in her head.
“I... I didn't... I wasn't...”
Her voice was as soft as a mosquito's buzz. Her foot slipped, and she tumbled straight off the stone monument, covering her face as she scrambled and fled back into the village.
