Chapter 335 · Volume 1

I, Olivia, Controller

Of course, even though the Controller and deity ranks were adjacent, the gap between them was not so easily bridged.
Just as the Radiant Goddess had said, what lay before her was an almost unbridgeable chasm.
“Does Pope Adam have a chance to become a deity?” Olivia couldn't help but think of Adam.
After all, within the Radiant Light Church, Adam was currently the only Controller.
The Radiant Goddess shook her head. “There is no longer any hope for him.”
The Radiant Goddess told Olivia that those capable of becoming deities could not remain in the Controller class rank for too long.
Once one became a Controller, those with the potential to become a deity should do so within a single year.
Anyone who exceeded a year would lose the opportunity to become a deity forever.
And it had already been a very long time since Adam became a Controller.
“If the Radiant Light Church didn't need a Pope, a Controller to hold down the fort, Adam would have become an angel long ago.”
So said the Radiant Goddess.
Simply put, Adam was long overdue for retirement.
Hearing this, Olivia couldn't help but click her tongue inwardly; she hadn't expected the requirements for becoming a deity to be so stringent.
To become a deity within a year of becoming a Controller—the difficulty of such a feat was unimaginable.
The Radiant Goddess looked deeply at Olivia. “So, do you understand? Olivia, if you become a Controller, you will not only face the intense influence of the Divine Language, but you must also break through that boundary within a year. Otherwise, you will never be able to become a deity.”
Hearing this, Olivia's gaze turned slightly subtle. “Does the Goddess believe I can become a deity?”
“Why else? I made you a Child of God naturally because I have high expectations for you.” The Radiant Goddess did not hide her thoughts.
She wanted a new deity to be born, to bring fresh vitality to the entire world.
And Olivia was the one she had chosen.
This expectation from a deity felt heavy, placing considerable pressure on Olivia.
However, Olivia took a deep breath and said seriously, “I am willing to become a Controller.”
Even if she didn't become a Controller, staying at the Destroyer rank would not allow her to accumulate any more strength.
There was no point in waiting; in her view, if one wanted to stand at a higher peak, one had to forge ahead.
If one even lost their courage, how could they ever climb to the summit?
The Radiant Goddess was not surprised by Olivia's decision. She nodded slightly with a smile. “Good. Since you have made your choice, let us begin.”
She raised her hand, and a burst of brilliant golden light erupted from her palm, enveloping Olivia. Slowly, she began to bestow changes upon her.
In a short amount of time, Olivia felt many strange changes occurring in her senses.
First, a large number of inexplicable whispers appeared in her ears.
She couldn't quite make out the content of those whispers; it was just a constant buzzing, never clear enough to understand, causing her to instinctively furrow her brows.
Was this the situation a Controller had to face?
Endless Divine Language, constant whispering, present day and night. Over time, it would likely drive anyone to the brink of madness.
But so what? Olivia felt she could endure it.
She accepted the changes brought by the Radiant Goddess, and her physical condition underwent a massive transformation in a very short period.
The amount of divine power in her magic pool increased significantly, sublimating her body, mind, and even her soul.
Unknowingly, she reached the Controller class rank.
Was this the end of transcendence?
Once she confirmed she possessed the power of a Controller, Olivia's mind felt a bit dazed.
Ever since she stepped onto the path of transcendence, had she really come all this way to its very end?
The feeling was truly quite unique.
“Alright, you are now a Controller.” The Radiant Goddess withdrew her hand, her gaze filled with a touch of emotion. “You are free now, Olivia. Go and do whatever you wish. Remember to try your best to break through and become a new deity within a year.”
“I grant you the ability to enter the Divine Realm at will. No matter which layer of the Divine Realm it is, you may come and go as you please, including here.”
Olivia thanked her. “Thank you, Goddess.”
The Radiant Goddess truly had high hopes for her, granting so many special privileges that Olivia couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.
Even a god was betting on her; what did she have to worry about?
After bidding farewell to the Radiant Goddess, Olivia walked out of the palace.
Outside the palace, Rose was still waiting for her.
“Sister Olivia.” Rose looked toward her.
Olivia smiled slightly. “Well, Rose, do you have any thoughts about the future?”
Rose said slowly, “Even though I've learned a lot, it doesn't seem like my life has changed much. I don't want anything to change, either. I'll just keep living as I did before.”
Previously, she thought knowing her past might change something, but the reality was that nothing had.
The past was in the past, and the marks etched into history would never fade.
“Then let's head back first,” Olivia said to Rose.
Having received the Radiant Goddess's blessing, she could travel to and from the Divine Realm at will. With a mere wave of her hand, she opened a portal of light and stepped through.
Seeing this, Rose followed.
The two of them passed through the portal and arrived directly at the headquarters of the Radiant Light Church.
There, Adam, Guinevere, and several high-ranking church officials were waiting.
Before Olivia and Rose's arrival, Adam had already shared some of what had transpired in the Divine Realm with the church leadership, sparking endless amazement.
When Olivia and Rose returned, everyone's gaze snapped toward them.
Naturally, most eyes were on Olivia. After all, her performance in the recent competition between the gods had been truly brilliant.
Even though she was still considered a Destroyer, Olivia's combat ability was widely recognized; many believed she was the strongest transcendent in the world.
“Wait, something's not right.” Suddenly, Adam seemed to sense something. His eyes fixed on Olivia as he asked, “Why has your aura changed again? This is... the aura of a Controller. Have you become a Controller?”
As soon as Adam spoke, the entire room erupted in an uproar once more.
