"Lady Melanie, your clothes—should I return them to you after I've had them laundered, or would you like them back now?"
Olivia gestured to the dress she was currently wearing. Since she had to go out in everyday attire today, Melanie had provided the outfit.
"They're yours," Melanie said with a slight smile. "Actually, I haven't even worn this set yet. Most of us nuns spend our time in habits anyway, don't we? I feel this outfit suits you perfectly; you can just keep it on and go."
"Thank you, Lady Melanie. I quite like this ensemble as well. Your taste is undoubtedly at the forefront of fashion," Olivia thanked her with a smile.
Compared to the gift of the Cross Grace, the value of this dress wasn't particularly high, so she didn't feel the need to overthink it.
After the two chatted for a while, Melanie took her leave.
Olivia also stepped out of the meditation room and headed to Ronan's office. As expected, she found Deacon Ronan there, busy handling paperwork.
"Olivia, is there something you need?" Ronan looked up.
The deacon, with his deep-set eyes and gaunt cheeks, looked somewhat exhausted. This wasn't surprising; after all, he had been active at night and sleeping during the day for the past few days... no, to be more precise, he couldn't even sleep much during the day. As a deacon, he had many affairs to manage.
The thought flashed through Olivia's mind as she said, "I've finished helping Lady Melanie with her matters. How are things being arranged on your end, Deacon? I ran into Vanessa earlier, and she said this incident might just fizzle out without any results."
"Is Melanie's business finished?" Ronan nodded thoughtfully, then added, "My business here is also about to conclude. I'll take the team for one final check tonight. If there are still no issues, then it'll be time to turn our attention to the next matter. By the way, please come with us tonight. Sorry for the trouble."
"It's what I should do." It was no problem for Olivia to delay her return to the monastery until tomorrow.
...
Night soon arrived.
Ronan, Raymond, Rocas, Vanessa, and Olivia boarded the carriage, with Rocas driving them toward Aus Street.
Olivia was still dressed in her daytime attire, not having changed back into her nun's habit. Her appearance, resembling a noble lady out on an excursion, caused the two priests, Raymond and Rocas, to daze for a moment when they saw her, though both quickly averted their gazes.
"You... you're re... really beautiful," Vanessa stammered her praise.
"Vanessa, if you dressed up, I think you'd be a beautiful lady who would make many people unable to look away as well," Olivia replied politely.
As the carriage started moving, she distributed Refresher Talismans to everyone.
Seeing this, Ronan sighed. "We have no harvest day after day, yet we keep having you make so many talismans. I'm truly sorry."
"We need to be prepared for any potential danger. It's what I should do," Olivia said dismissively.
In any case, the spiritual pen and spiritual paper were provided by Ronan; she was only contributing a bit of labor.
Even without Ronan's requests, she would still need to practice making talismans. At that point, she would have to pay for the spiritual paper herself. Now, it was essentially having free materials to practice with.
Of course, such an answer earned Olivia another round of praise from Ronan.
After some time, Olivia and the others arrived at Aus Street.
Crimson moonlight bathed the domed buildings and the sparse vegetation in the nearby Morning Dew Park. The vast street was exceptionally quiet.
Ronan took the team on their routine patrol to search for possible traces, while Olivia, as she had done on previous visits, stayed behind to guard the carriage.
Waiting wasn't too boring because she didn't waste time daydreaming or spacing out; instead, she seized the moment to meditate.
Even though she had become a transcendent of the Pilgrim class rank, she would not slack off. She did not believe this level of strength was enough to protect herself in this supernatural world. If an Initiate was at the bottom tier of transcendents, then a Pilgrim was only slightly better.
Furthermore, her status as an undercover agent left a lingering sense of crisis in her heart. She had to possess sufficient class rank and strength to resolve the hidden dangers of her identity.
Time passed slowly during her meditation, and before she knew it, more than half the night had slipped away.
Just as Olivia thought the night would pass peacefully, her brow suddenly furrowed as if she had sensed something. She stopped her meditation, stepped out of the carriage, and looked toward the nearby residential area.
'There's a magic fluctuation... Did Deacon Ronan and the others find something?'
Olivia reached up to press down on her wide-brimmed hat, ensuring the hat with its pale yellow ribbon wouldn't fall off, and then ran toward the direction of the magic fluctuation.
However, the hem of her high-waisted long skirt reached her calves, which slightly hindered her movements. She had to hold up her skirt while running to maintain her speed.
Before long, she entered a back alley and saw a figure running rapidly across the rooftops not far away.
Due to the distance, she couldn't see the person's face clearly. The moonlight only allowed her to determine it was a male wearing dark clothing.
The man was very fast and extremely agile, moving swiftly even across the uneven rooftops.
Behind this man, three figures were in hot pursuit: Ronan, Raymond, and Rocas.
As for Vanessa... oh, she was further back. A Priest's running speed was never particularly fast.
Olivia wasn't in a hurry to head over because the man was running in her direction. There were large gaps between the houses ahead of her; once the man reached that point, he would have to jump down, which meant he would land right in front of her.
But just as she thought that, the man in dark clothing, after finishing the roof he was on, continued to run through the air until he reached the next rooftop.
Olivia's eyes widened at the sight.
'Walking on air?'
Feeling she had miscalculated, Olivia quickly turned and ran along the ground, looking for an opportunity to approach him.
At the same time, she asked in her mind, wanting to learn about this unknown opponent through the magic mirror.
'Magic mirror, magic mirror, how can a transcendent walk on air?'
【When a transcendent becomes powerful enough, everyone can fly. This class rank is called a Skywalker.】
Olivia was taken aback, then realized her question might not have been accurate enough. After all, the person was being chased by Ronan and the others; he couldn't possibly be some Skywalker.
'Magic mirror, magic mirror, among low-level class ranks, who can walk in the air?'
【No one can walk in the air for long unless they use a forbidden artifact. As for walking on air for an extremely brief moment, the Dreamwalker's ability, Dream Bridge, can achieve that.】
'A Dreamwalker?'
Olivia thought to herself.
'Magic mirror, magic mirror, tell me the abilities of a Dreamwalker at the Pilgrim class rank.'
Only by knowing her opponent could she deal with them.
