Garrett was momentarily stunned when he heard the knock at the door.
Who could it be?
Had the members of the organization arrived so quickly?
But that didn't seem right. By his estimation, they weren't supposed to arrive for another two days.
However, there was always the possibility that they had come early.
Without overthinking it, Garrett stepped forward and opened the door.
The moment he saw the two figures standing outside, his pupils constricted sharply.
“Who are you?”
Garrett stared at the two people before him with suspicion and uncertainty, his gaze sweeping over Olivia.
Dressed in her Radiant Light Church nun habit, Olivia was far too conspicuous.
If he were in the Holy Kelidos Empire and saw Olivia, Garrett would likely have already been preparing his escape. Being sought out by the church was never a good sign.
Even as a Domainist, he knew he had to maintain a high level of caution.
But this was the Varian Empire, wasn't it?
Why would a nun from the Radiant Light Church come looking for him here? Was it just a coincidence?
Moreover, she was accompanied by a young girl who appeared harmless, which was the only thing keeping him from fleeing immediately.
Looking at the vampire before her, Olivia gave a faint smile. “You ask who I am? I am Olivia Melianne. Have you heard of me?”
Who?
Olivia?
The Protagonist of the Era from the Radiant Light Church, Olivia?
Upon hearing that name, Garrett felt goosebumps erupt all over his body, and his mind went numb.
He subconsciously swallowed, unwilling to believe what he was hearing.
“I’m in no mood for jokes. Who are you really? There’s no reason for Olivia of the Radiant Light Church to be here.”
“How could there be no reason? I happen to be quite interested in the Remnant Branch of the Divine Tree,” Olivia said with a beaming smile.
At those words, a thunderclap seemed to explode in Garrett’s mind, the roar echoing relentlessly.
She knew about the Remnant Branch of the Divine Tree!
She really was here for him.
Almost instinctively, Garrett expanded his domain and recoiled at high speed. In an instant, he reached the room's window and leaped out.
But just as his body cleared the window frame, he felt a hand rapidly extending from behind him. The palm grew exceptionally large in an instant, snatching him out of the air and clutching him tight.
It’s over. This really is Olivia.
Accounts of Olivia’s combat methods had spread across the continent during this time. Everyone knew she didn't follow the two conventional transcendent paths the church publicly acknowledged.
While most didn't know the specifics, it was no longer a secret that Olivia could extend her limbs and enlarge her hands.
The moment he was caught in that massive palm, Garrett knew he was finished.
And it wasn't just him; the members of the Bloody Sickle currently making their way to the Whispering Forest were likely doomed as well.
“Farewell.”
With a casual toss, Olivia flung Garrett high into the sky.
During the process, she used her own magic power to seal Garrett’s, rendering him unable to use any transcendent abilities for the time being.
Garrett could only watch helplessly as he was hurled toward the firmament, flying higher than the clouds. Whispering Town below became nothing more than a tiny speck in his vision.
But soon, Whispering Town began to grow large again.
He was falling.
Powerless to stop himself and accelerated by gravity, he hurtled back toward the earth. The town below loomed larger and larger.
“No!”
Garrett let out a scream of pure terror.
He had never imagined that he would face death in such a manner. He had considered many ways he might die, but falling to his death was never one of them.
He screamed until his voice cracked, but nothing could change his fate.
With a sickening thud, Garrett slammed into the main street of Whispering Town, creating a large crater in the road. He was reduced to a bloody mess instantly, dying on the spot.
The sight sent a shockwave of fear through the people on the street. They began to gather around, bewildered by what had happened.
How could someone just fall out of the sky?
Meanwhile, Olivia hid her identity and deeds, leading Rose down the streets of Whispering Town at a leisurely pace.
She had no intention of lingering in the town. Since the rest of the Bloody Sickle wouldn't arrive for two more days, she planned to enter the Whispering Forest first and claim the Remnant Branch of the Divine Tree.
As they reached the boundary where Whispering Town met the Whispering Forest, they saw many adventurers forming parties.
The Whispering Forest was no safe haven; entering in a group provided at least a modicum of security.
Olivia’s arrival prompted several people to extend an olive branch, inviting her to join them.
However, Olivia declined them all.
She and Rose entered the Whispering Forest alone.
The Whispering Forest was a peculiar place. The moment they stepped inside, their figures vanished from sight.
Looking from Whispering Town toward the forest, there was no sign of them at all.
“Just two of them and they dare enter the Whispering Forest? How bold.”
“Why didn't they join a larger group? There was even a child with them.”
“Idiots, what do you know? That woman is wearing a Radiant Light Church nun habit. She’s definitely a powerhouse from the church.”
“Think about it. Anyone who dares bring a child into a danger zone has only two possibilities. Either the child is actually a child, or that child is a high-level class rank practitioner.”
Olivia and Rose’s simple passage had sparked a flurry of discussion.
Some questioned them, while others looked on with solemn expressions.
But whatever those people thought no longer mattered to Olivia.
She was already inside the Whispering Forest, moving steadily toward its depths.
The Whispering Forest was filled with lush, verdant vegetation that remained unaffected by the seasons, maintaining its thick growth year-round.
The environmental uniformity of the area was high, making it incredibly easy for travelers to lose their way.
Of course, such a problem was no issue for Olivia.
As she walked, she consulted the magic mirror in her mind for the route, and the mirror provided answers from time to time.
Under the magic mirror’s guidance, Olivia sometimes moved forward and sometimes doubled back. It didn't look like she was traveling in a straight line, but this was, in fact, the most accurate path.
Rose couldn't understand why Olivia’s route was so strange, but she didn't ask questions. She only needed to stay by Olivia’s side.
