After bidding farewell to Mia, Tyr took the magic lamp from Avia's hand and headed upstairs.
In the corridor, watching the retreating backs of Tyr and his maid, Mia bowed deeply before returning to Sevira's room.
...
The Grand Duke's mansion.
Much like the Sword Prison, the Grand Duke's mansion, which felt highly oppressive during the day, had an almost elven wonderland feel to it at night.
At this hour, most of the people in the mansion had long since gone to sleep, but the Grand Duke's office was still lit.
Suddenly, a soccer-ball-sized crystal ball to the Grand Duke's left lit up.
A communication crystal. It allowed for long-distance calls, somewhat similar to a video call, though of course, that was its only function.
The Grand Duke paused what he was doing, pulled the communication crystal in front of him, and channeled a bit of magic power into it.
Inside the communication crystal, Ryder's figure materialized.
“Has something gone wrong in the Sword Prison?”
Seeing that the caller was the chief instructor of the Sword Prison, the Grand Duke inquired.
“No, not at all, Your Grace. The reason I am reporting to you this time is because of Tyr.”
“Tyr? Lanier's son. What about him?”
“Your Grace, we have discovered that Tyr can use two types of magic power. While cultivating the magic power unique to House Callis, he can also use Holy Power.”
Choosing his words carefully, Ryder spoke in a solemn tone.
“Holy Power? Are you sure you didn't mistake it?”
Grand Duke Callis's expression also turned solemn. He knew Ryder would never joke about such a matter.
“I am absolutely certain, Your Grace. That Holy Power radiated directly from within Tyr's body; he did not rely on a magic tool.”
Magic tools were magical items crafted by mages.
Whether it was the magic lamp Tyr used or the communication crystal Grand Duke Callis and Ryder were using now, both were types of magic tools.
Aside from daily utility, magic tools could also be crafted for offensive or defensive purposes.
By channeling magic power into a magic tool, a mage could temporarily utilize magic power other than their own.
However, although these types of magic tools were not particularly difficult to manufacture, recharging them was a hassle, so they were essentially single-use items.
Because they were highly expensive, they were generally only purchased by high noble families for their younger generation to use as self-defense.
“I understand.”
Grand Duke Callis nodded. Ryder was a Ninth Circle powerhouse. Since he said the Holy Power did not come from a magic tool, then Tyr must indeed be capable of using two types of magic power simultaneously.
A dual-magic wielder? Moreover, he possessed the sword magic power unique to House Callis and the Holy Power unique to the Aglaia family.
This Tyr had truly given him quite a surprise.
After hanging up the call with Ryder, Grand Duke Callis channeled a bit more magic power into the communication crystal.
Grand Duke Callis waited quietly, but even after his channeled magic power was completely depleted, the other side still hadn't picked up.
“╬”
Grand Duke Callis channeled magic power into the communication crystal once more. It wasn't until he did so for the third time that the call was finally connected on the other side.
“Your Grace, it is so late. Is something the matter?”
Within the communication crystal, Lanier's sleepy-eyed face appeared.
He was currently wearing a black silk pajama, rubbing his eyes with one hand while yawning.
Only then did Grand Duke Callis remember that it was already the middle of the night and Lanier must have gone to sleep long ago. The anger in his heart dissipated by more than half.
“Sigh, Lanier, can you use two types of magic power?”
Upon learning that Tyr could use two types of magic power, his first thought was that Lanier had researched a cultivation method that allowed for the simultaneous cultivation of two types of magic power.
After all, Tyr was only an eight-year-old child, and how long had he even been in contact with magic? No matter how much of a genius he was, he shouldn't have been able to develop a method to cultivate two types of magic power simultaneously at this stage.
But Lanier was different. Lanier himself was a top-tier genius. As a fellow favored son of heaven from the previous generation and his former competitor, Grand Duke Callis knew Lanier's talent better than anyone.
Once upon a time, he too had been chased by Lanier until he was left breathless. What he hadn't expected, however, was that during the final battle, Lanier had actively withdrawn and subsequently staged an elopement to vanish from the scene.
Furthermore, Lanier was now a Ninth Circle Transcendent. His understanding of magic power was bound to be incredibly profound.
However, Lanier's next words quickly dispelled this thought.
“Two types of magic power? How is that possible? Who in all of history has ever been able to cultivate two types of magic power?”
Lanier found Grand Duke Callis's question utterly baffling. If he could use two types of magic power, he would have reached the Demigod realm long ago instead of lingering at the Ninth Circle.
“Ah, it is nothing. Go back to sleep.”
Grand Duke Callis did not ask if Ivelina was the one who had researched a way to cultivate two types of magic power. Given their relationship, if Ivelina knew such a method, she would not have kept it from Lanier.
After hanging up the communication crystal, Grand Duke Callis fell into deep thought.
So, that method of cultivating two types of magic power simultaneously was truly figured out by Tyr, that little eight-year-old fellow, all on his own.
What a shocking little fellow. His talent was even more monstrous than his father's.
Thinking of Lanier, Grand Duke Callis suddenly recalled his sleepy-eyed appearance in pajamas just now, and his eyelids twitched.
Even if he had indeed been asleep, was that the proper posture and attire for an audience with the Grand Duke?
If not for his naturally composed temperament, he really would have called back just to give Lanier a good scolding.
Raising his hand to channel a strand of magic power into the communication crystal, Grand Duke Callis called Ryder.
The Sword Prison, chief instructor's dormitory.
After Grand Duke Callis had hung up the communication crystal, Ryder had remained waiting by the desk without leaving.
He knew that Grand Duke Callis would definitely call back in a moment.
Sure enough, ten minutes later, the communication crystal on the desk lit up once more.
Ryder channeled magic power into the communication crystal, and Grand Duke Callis's figure gradually emerged within it.
“Your Grace.”
“Tell Tyr that he may do whatever he wishes...”
...
Lanier's marquisate, the Marquis's mansion.
With the communication crystal suddenly hung up, Lanier looked utterly bewildered.
Calling him through the communication crystal in the dead of night, pulling him out of his warm bed, just to ask if he could cultivate two types of magic power simultaneously?
How was this any different from waking him up just to tell him to go back to sleep?
Utterly baffling.
“What is it, Lanier?”
Seeing that Lanier was slow to return to bed, Ivelina, wearing a white silk nightgown, got out of bed and walked over to his side.
“In the middle of the night, he called just to ask me if I can use two types of magic power.”
