Chapter 366 · Volume 1

Traveling with Truth, World Pseudo-Spirits

Before long, Big Boss arrived at End City with the Fate Typewriter. In the VIP room of the Wanbao Pavilion, Chen Xu met with this Truth Relic.
“Lord Chen Xu, it has been a long time. You are as elegant as ever.”
The Fate Typewriter was the first to offer a greeting. This gesture caught Chen Xu by surprise, causing him to take a few extra looks at it.
Furthermore, there seemed to be an invisible, intangible field surrounding the Fate Typewriter.
This field was extremely well-hidden, even under soul vision.
Had they been outside the Land of the Undead, Chen Xu might not have been able to sense it. It was only here, bolstered by his authority as the World Lord, that he perceived the field.
“Hahaha, Lord Fate, what wind blew you here?”
The Fate Typewriter hopped onto the table, and the little green man crawled out, leaning against the axle. He pointed at the drink in a nearby cup, drawing a stream of water into his mouth.
After wetting his throat, he slowly spoke.
“Lord Chen Xu, I have come because I am on an investigation mission. I need to borrow the functions of the Truth Monocle.”
“Oh, I see.”
Upon hearing this, Chen Xu pulled out the Truth Monocle and placed it on the table, sliding it forward with a gesture of his hand.
To his surprise, the little green man shook his head.
“Lord Chen Xu, you misunderstand. I am not here to take back the monocle.
“How about this? Let me tell you about my mission first.
“The Universal Mirror of Truth, one of the Great Sage’s creations, recently detected an extraordinary event occurring across the myriad worlds. A massive amount of world fragments have suddenly appeared.
“These fragments seem to have originated from the battlefield where Heaven and Hell were at a standoff. As they drift, they have caused many worlds to awaken true spirits. However, there are anomalies among these awakened spirits.
“My current assignment is to investigate what happened on the battlefield between Heaven and Hell and to determine what is wrong with those world true spirits.
“Since this involves both Heaven and Hell, I would like to ask you to come with me to investigate.
“As compensation, I can offer you some rare technologies from the library’s collection.
“What do you think?”
“Oh...?”
Chen Xu let out a long, drawn-out sound before saying, “Lord Fate, I might already have the answer to your first task.”
“Hmm? Really?”
The little green man was slightly stunned, looking surprised.
Chen Xu nodded and began to explain the recent events to the Fate Typewriter.
After listening to Chen Xu’s narration, the little green man frowned, looking completely baffled.
“Resetting the battlefield? Hell’s retaliation? What a strange decision.
“But then again, if it’s that crazed Hell we’re talking about, it almost seems understandable. Still, I feel like something is off.”
Chen Xu agreed with this sentiment.
“I find it strange as well. I keep feeling that this is another conspiracy orchestrated by the Mother of Hell.”
“Another?”
The little green man asked, confused.
So, Chen Xu introduced the situation regarding the Mother of Hell’s soul and the deductions he and the Lord of Heaven had made.
“Soul holes, special worlds, the Martial, Immortal, Yokai, Divine, and Shamanic paths... So many things have happened recently.”
“Yes, it’s as if the myriad worlds have accelerated. One wave after another, I haven’t had a chance to rest in a long time.”
Chen Xu sighed and snapped his fingers, pulling a Blazing Soul from the Necrotic Dao Court at random to massage his shoulders.
In response to Chen Xu’s complaint, the Fate Typewriter seemed to remember something. It connected its soul to the Truth Library, making a clacking sound as it began to spit out sheets of manuscript.
Chen Xu focused his attention on the papers emerging from the Fate Typewriter.
“‘Transcendent Tide’?”
The little green man hopped off the axle, his butt charred black and emitting wisps of white smoke.
He bent over to pick up the scattered papers, tidying them up. He reached back to touch the wound on his butt, getting a hand full of mucus, which he used to stick the pages together into a crude book before lifting it up to Chen Xu.
Chen Xu reached out, about to take it, but seeing the pale green liquid seeping from the paper, his fingers stopped instantly. Instead, he used mental strength to control the book, flipping through it in the air.
As Chen Xu read, the Fate Typewriter provided an explanation.
“The Great Sage has a theory that the development of the supernatural in the myriad worlds does not occur at a fixed speed.
“Instead, it is like the rising and falling of the tide—it has ebbs and flows, fast and slow periods, and even regressions.
“During certain periods, the supernatural system enters an accelerated ‘high tide’ phase. In this stage, various major events occur frequently across the myriad worlds, and the supernatural systems receive a massive boost.”
Chen Xu finished the book and placed it back on the table. He remained noncommittal toward the theory of this legendary Great Sage.
After all, in terms of academia, the man was an absolute veteran. While others had students all over the land, he had students all over the myriad worlds.
However, academia was always just academia. To interfere with reality, one had to put things into practice.
Chen Xu looked at the typewriter and tapped his finger lightly on the table, bouncing the monocle into the air so it landed on the little green man.
“Lord Fate, I remember you saying some world true spirits had issues. Why don’t we go take a look together?”
Chen Xu felt that there was a deeper scheme behind the Mother of Hell’s so-called ‘retaliation.’ Thus, he took the initiative to join the Truth Library’s mission.
Perhaps he could gain some unexpected insights by leveraging the analytical capabilities of these Truth Relics.
“Really? That would be wonderful.”
With a unique-tier powerhouse like Chen Xu accompanying him, the Fate Typewriter was overjoyed. The little green man ran forward, wanting to shake Chen Xu’s hand in gratitude.
But Chen Xu glanced at his fluid-covered hand, stood up silently, and walked straight out.
“Time waits for no one. Since the Sage says we are in a high tide phase, let’s set out immediately.”
Chen Xu raised his hand and opened a spatial gate, from which a grayish-white bone nightmare galloped out.
“Neigh!”
Invincible nuzzled Chen Xu’s palm and lowered his body, allowing Chen Xu to mount him.
Next, Chen Xu raised his hand to open the world membrane of the Land of the Undead, transporting himself and the Fate Typewriter into the cosmic void.
Chen Xu looked at the Fate Typewriter, gesturing for it to lead the way.
The Fate Typewriter immediately pulled up world coordinates. Its axle spun rapidly, printing out over a hundred star maps. On each star map, there were one or more markers indicating worlds that needed investigation.
Seeing this, Chen Xu was somewhat surprised.
“So many?”
“Yes, the amount of world fragments this time is staggering. Some worlds that are close to each other have been completely filled with fragments.”
Subsequently, Chen Xu and the Fate Typewriter visited dozens of worlds, all of which were marked as normal.
The situation inside those worlds was also perfectly normal: world fragments invaded, forming special secret realms—what Blue Star called dungeons.
The world consciousnesses had awakened and begun granting supernatural abilities to the creatures within, guiding them to clear and conquer those world fragments. The progression was identical to what had happened on Blue Star.
The only difference was the protagonist; instead of humans, it was other races.
Soon, Chen Xu and the Fate Typewriter arrived outside the first world marked as abnormal.
“This world is a bit strange.”
Even from outside the world, Chen Xu sensed that something was wrong.
The fluctuations of this world were extremely off.
The Fate Typewriter, however, began to tremble slightly, as if this aura reminded it of something unpleasant.
Chen Xu looked back and asked with concern, “Are you all right?”
“I am fine. I just remembered some things from the past. I hope it is just my imagination.”
With a thought, Chen Xu ignored the barriers of this world and brought the Fate Typewriter directly inside.
Within the world, that eerie fluctuation became even more pronounced—chaotic and bizarre.
Chen Xu felt as though he were not inside a world, but rather inside the stomach of a wild beast.
Beside him, the Fate Typewriter had fallen into silence. The features on the little green man’s face were almost scrunched together.
After a long while, he finally spoke.
“After so many years, I didn’t expect world pseudo-spirits to appear again.”
