Chapter 364 · Volume 1

Hell's Bizarre Behavior, the Myriad Worlds Enter the Dungeon Era

Looking at the flickering points of light within the core of the Undead Dao Court, Chen Xu fell into a state of incomprehensible shock.
Wait, did Hell give birth to some new race? Skeleton Killer Demon No. 1?
How could such a massive number of skeleton heroes be terminated in such a short period of time?
While it was true that skeleton heroes could be resurrected within the Undead Dao Court—and their memories and strength would remain at their peak state from before their deaths—resurrection took time.
The stronger a skeleton hero was in life, the longer the resurrection process required. And what did that mean? It meant that thousands upon thousands of free laborers were entering a period of forced leave!
By the Undead, Chen Xu’s skeletons never rested. Now that so many were suddenly out of commission, a surge of nameless fury rushed straight to his heart.
Chen Xu sensed Bone Guard One's location and immediately opened a spatial gate, stepping onto the battlefield.
“Bone Guard One!”
Chen Xu began to demand answers the moment he arrived, but he immediately noticed the overwhelming aura of numerous Hell Archdukes in the vicinity.
His terrifying, unique-tier mental strength erupted and expanded in an instant, pinning the Hell Archdukes in place.
“My Lord.”
Bone Guard One turned to face Chen Xu and lowered his head, his frame trembling slightly.
This was the first time he had ever heard Chen Xu call out to him so sternly and loudly. Even as the marshal commanding hundreds of millions of undead, he couldn't help but feel a flicker of trepidation.
Chen Xu frowned as he looked at the despairing Hell Archdukes.
His mental strength spread rapidly, sweeping across a vast area.
Soon, Chen Xu discovered a massive amount of fresh world fragments and worlds that were still in the process of exploding and collapsing.
“What is going on here?”
“My Lord, Hell seems to have gone mad. A large group of Hell Archdukes mobilized together, entering the battlefield worlds and destroying them directly.
“Many of the undead died in the massive explosions caused by the destruction of these worlds.
“Furthermore, those Hell Archdukes have a very clear objective: to destroy the worlds. They only dodge when attacked by beings whose strength far exceeds an ordinary eternal-tier, like Kunpeng or Sindragosa.
“Against any other interference, they choose to tank the damage, prioritizing the destruction of the world. That is why the undead suffered such massive casualties in such a short time.”
Bone Guard One's explanation left Chen Xu utterly bewildered.
They would rather take the hits just to destroy a world?
What was wrong with these Hell Archdukes? Had the Mother of Hell changed their KPI metrics? Were they no longer looking at the standoff with Heaven and instead focusing on straightforward world destruction?
But even that didn't make sense. What was the point for Hell?
In Chen Xu’s perception, the Hell Archdukes' methods for destroying worlds were incredibly crude—to an extreme degree. It wasn't the kind of thing an experienced invader like Hell should be doing.
With this method of destruction, the majority of the world origin turned into world fragments, which were then scattered into the cosmic void by the shockwaves of the explosions.
The Hell Archdukes themselves only managed to intercept a tiny portion of the world origin—hardly even a fifth, if not less.
This thankless task was deeply confusing to Chen Xu.
With a wave of his hand, Chen Xu dragged a Hell Archduke toward him.
It was a Beholder. Chen Xu’s mental strength forcibly pried open the creature's eyelids, forcing it to look him in the eye.
His terrifying mental strength was forcibly shoved into the Beholder's soul, causing it to expand many times over.
Chen Xu continuously permeated the Beholder's soul, trying to find the reason behind the Hell Archdukes' actions.
However, he could only see a demon with a human torso and a serpent's tail. Based on its form, it was likely the legendary Demon King of Lies.
The Demon King of Lies had issued the order to the Hell Archdukes, telling them to launch these frantic attacks and claiming it was retaliation from Hell.
Chen Xu was speechless. So they killed the demons of a few dozen worlds and a handful of Hell Archdukes—was that really enough to make Hell lose its cool?
In all the years they had fought Heaven, the number of demons killed and wounded must have been far higher than that, yet he had never seen Hell snap like this.
Why was it that the moment the undead intervened, Hell decided to flip the table?
Chen Xu wanted to continue reading the Beholder's memories to see if he could gather more information.
Suddenly, a frantic aura materialized out of thin air, twisting the Beholder's soul into the shape of an elegant queen—the likeness of the Mother of Hell.
The Mother of Hell stared at Chen Xu and spoke through the Beholder's soul in a raspy voice.
“Undead, you are just like Heaven, possessing the same disgusting voyeuristic tendencies.
“Heaven pries into matter, while you, Undead, covet souls.
“You're two of a kind. Just you wait—you and Heaven won't be jumping around for much longer!
“You will all surrender at my feet; angels and skeletons alike will become part of the demons!”
As soon as she finished, the Beholder's twisted soul deflated like a punctured balloon, and it lost its life.
The Beholder seemed to be a fuse. The surrounding Hell demons began to tremble violently. After a series of shudders, their souls also twisted before collapsing and deflating, ending their lives one after another.
Chen Xu stood there, momentarily at a loss.
The Mother of Hell had rambled on quite a bit. It was one thing to curse Heaven, but why did she have to drag him into it too?
And after she was done insulting him, she just vanished, leaving Chen Xu without even a chance to talk back.
The fact that a massive batch of skeleton heroes was now on forced leave had already made him depressed; now that he had been insulted for no reason, Chen Xu’s mood grew even more heated.
“This won't do. One day, I’ll have to march into Hell, sit on the Mother of Hell's head, and curse her right back.”
Chen Xu could only grumble a retort for now, pushing his emotions back into the depths of his heart.
As his anger subsided, Chen Xu suddenly noticed something off.
“Wait... the Mother of Hell's words just now were quite logical.
“Wasn't she supposed to be in a state of madness? Did she get better?”
The Mother of Hell had regained her rationality, yet the Hell Archdukes were acting like lunatics. This contrast made Chen Xu vaguely feel there was some sort of connection.
But for the life of him, he couldn't put his finger on what that connection was, so he had to set the thought aside for the moment.
A very faint holy light flickered within the Undead Dao Court. Chen Xu opened a small spatial gate and reached in to pull out the Covenant of Saint Light.
Upon opening it, he saw a message from Alifa.
“Heaven has also suffered retaliation from Hell. Most of the existing battlefield worlds have been destroyed.”
It seemed Hell's frantic actions weren't targeted specifically at the undead, but were being dealt out equally to both the undead and Heaven.
The Covenant of Saint Light flickered with another faint light as Alifa sent another message.
【Alifa: Hell has reset the battlefields. They are opening entirely new fronts. Heaven's defensive advantages have been wiped out, and the myriad worlds are about to fall into significant chaos.】
“Resetting the battlefields... just for that?”
Chen Xu didn't quite believe it. The Heavenly Expeditionary Force had indeed gained a significant advantage by relying on fortified cities.
But was that slight defensive edge really worth such a massive effort to reset everything?
Chen Xu couldn't figure it out, but he knew one thing: when faced with a situation obscured by fog, the most effective method wasn't to trace clues and unravel the mystery—that would only lead into someone else's trap.
The most effective way was to use supreme power to flip the table and rewrite the rules of the game.
Thus, Chen Xu immediately shared the news with Bone Guard One.
“Bone Guard One, Hell has gone mad for some reason. They've reset the battlefields and are invading other worlds to open new fronts.
“Once Ghost Axe finishes casting the secret treasure bases, lead the remaining undead army and continue to wipe out those demons.
“As for the invasion coordinates, people have already uploaded them to the Undead Network. Prioritize the ones listed there.
“Don't spread yourselves too thin this time. Focus primarily on the blood sacrifice for the Dao artifacts.”
“As you command, my Lord.”
...
Within the vast Cosmic Sea, Blue Star's Heavenly Dao was using a secret technique to manifest a projection, constantly searching for suitable worlds for expedition.
Suddenly, a massive amount of world fragments shot in from all directions. The sheer quantity and speed startled Blue Star's Heavenly Dao.
But he quickly recovered, his face lighting up with explosive joy.
“I hit the jackpot! I hit the jackpot!”
Blue Star's Heavenly Dao immediately activated a secret technique to capture these world fragments, modifying their trajectories to send them hurtling toward Blue Star.
And in the vast Cosmic Sea, massive fragment torrents were still drifting with the tide.
These torrents of debris crashed into world after world. The phenomenon of Dungeon Descent that was occurring on Blue Star was now playing out across the myriad worlds.
