Not obsessing over the topic any longer, Momozi gave a mischievous smirk and dropped his trump card:
“I've got an even crazier idea! We can disguise ourselves as kobolds! Sneak into their stronghold, then pull out the mobs directly—we can pull as many as we want! We just need a buddy who knows disguise magic. As for feasibility... I'd say there's an eighty percent chance it works!”
The moment those words were uttered, the square completely exploded!
“Holy crap! Infiltration tactics! That's brilliant!”
“Momozi is insane! Hao Bai's party really is the meta answer!”
“Damn! Disguising as kobolds? That idea is crazy!”
“That's ten thousand times more reliable than the previous method!”
“A stroke of genius!”
“Wait, something's wrong. Highly wrong. Why do I feel like he's insulting me?”
“Haha, 666, some of you don't even need a disguise.”
Watching the God-Chosen Ones from the side, West was completely stunned.
His deep blue eyes were filled with shock, and a stormy sea raged in his heart. Are these really the Goddess's God-Chosen Ones?
He had once thought the God-Chosen Ones were merely a noisy, chaotic, and lawless bunch of outsiders. He had even felt that the Goddess sent him here to cover for them—that the God-Chosen Ones were weak and fragile, needing his Silver Rank combat strength for protection.
Yet at this moment, these God-Chosen Ones were neither unreasonable nor chaotic. Instead, they could come up with an unheard-of tactic like disguising as the enemy race, with a clear division of labor and sharp logic. Wisdom like this was something he had never encountered in his entire life!
He recalled his youth, when beastkin massacred his village. Back then, all he knew was to clutch a wooden sword and rush forward to throw his life away. It was Saintess Lilith's holy light that had saved the entire village. From that moment on, he swore to spend his life protecting the Saintess and practicing the Light.
Yet he possessed only a pious heart and a foolish mind, knowing only how to clash head-on, never conceiving that a battle could be planned like this.
Goddess Almighty! Just how merciful and wise are You to bestow upon us God-Chosen Ones possessed of such boundless wisdom!
And to think I once looked down on them as noisy and rude, believing they fell short of the city guards' discipline... I was truly far too self-righteous, far too foolish!
To judge the God-Chosen Ones with such narrow eyes... I am truly unworthy of the Goddess's favor!
It was I who failed to grasp the Goddess's deep intent. Perhaps the divine oracle commanding me to follow the God-Chosen Ones was precisely to teach me humility, to let me learn the virtue of wisdom from them!
West's cheeks burned with heat, his heart filled with deep shame, wishing he could find a crack in the ground to hide in. Right now, the way he looked at the players was no longer filled with his initial impatience, but with deep admiration.
Just then, someone exclaimed, “Can this really work? What if we're discovered? Won't we get ganked by a whole swarm of kobolds?”
“Theoretically, it works,” Momozi said. “Kobolds aren't very smart and mainly recognize their own kind by appearance. But the main problem right now is that we lack a means of disguise.”
As soon as he spoke, an excited voice suddenly rang out from the crowd:
“I have one!”
Everyone turned toward the sound and saw a female player with a head of pink hair raising her hand high. Her face wore a tsundere expression that practically screamed, “It's finally my time to shine!”, bursting with energetic energy.
Her game ID was “Energetic Foxfox”.
With smiling eyes, she said, “The skill I drew is Disguise! I can disguise myself or others into any form! But it only lasts for ten minutes!”
“Holy crap, there's a skill like that?”
“Ten minutes? That's plenty! Ten minutes is more than enough to lure mobs!”
Momozi's eyes lit up, staring at Energetic Foxfox as if he had found a treasure. “Your skill can disguise us as kobolds?”
“In theory, yes!” Energetic Foxfox patted her chest in assurance. “As long as I have a visual reference of a kobold, it'll work!”
“Great!” Momozi slapped his leg. “Then there's no problem!”
Momozi handed the megaphone back to Nan Cheng, who took it and immediately began assigning tasks with rapid, clear speech, maintaining the precise rhythm of a veteran streamer leading a raid:
“Alright! We'll go with this tactic! We'll split into three teams now: Team One, thirty people, head to the outer edge of the forest to collect slime secretion, lightning-struck wood charcoal, magical beast blood, beeswax, and lime powder. Team Two, everyone else stay in the square and wait for the materials to build the large teleportation array together. Team Three, follow me and Hao Bai's party to set up a teleportation anchor near the kobold stronghold!”
Just as he finished speaking, Bruce suddenly leaned over and chimed in with a cheeky grin:
“Cheng-ge, hold on a sec! You seem to have forgotten something. All the slimes nearby were wiped out by our party! Slime secretion is a core material—if others go looking for it, they might not find a single one after half a day!”
Nan Cheng slapped his forehead, suddenly realizing. “Right! How could I forget about that!”
When they left the temple earlier, Lilith had seen the two slimes Bruce held in his arms—one of which was a rare pink variant. She had specifically mentioned that pink slimes only grew in slime gathering grounds and emitted mental waves that induced joy. They were extremely rare, and the slime secretion they produced was a rare material for crafting magical potions. When used on magic arrays, it served as a superior alternative to regular slime secretion and could fetch a high price.
At the time, they were only focused on grinding slimes to level up and hadn't gathered slime secretion on purpose. If players were sent searching all over the mountains now, it would take half a day.
Bruce chuckled proudly and pulled a small woven rattan basket out from behind his back, inside of which two plump slimes were bouncing around:
“Heh heh! Cheng-ge, did you forget? I kept a backup! I hid these two! Especially this pink one—Miss Lilith said it's a rare variant among slimes, and the secretion it produces equals three regular slimes!”
“Bruce! Good job! You really come through at critical moments! You're practically our lucky star!” Nan Cheng clapped him on the shoulder in pleasant surprise.
Who would have thought that Bruce's previous act of keeping two slimes would inadvertently play such a vital, crucial role right now?
As for where Bruce got the woven rattan basket... he probably crafted it whenever Nan Cheng wasn't paying attention.
Bruce puffed out his chest, looking immensely proud. “Of course! Who do you think I am?”
His tail was practically holding up the sky right now. After speaking, he paraded around the temple square holding his slime basket. The pink slime was shaken so much it let out cute “Mu-mu!” sounds, provoking a burst of laughter from the players. Even Lilith, who had been standing at the temple doorway watching the players for a long time, couldn't help showing a slight smile.
Taking in the entire scene, Iluvia marveled inwardly. She had to admit, the players really possessed no shortage of talented individuals. A subtle look of gratification graced her face.
It seems the screening process for the player profiles was quite effective—and very necessary, she nodded secretly.
Still, given the nature of this group, who knows what ridiculous stunt they'll pull next.
Hopefully not... Ah well, I'll be keeping an eye on them anyway.
