Chapter 67 · Volume 1

Maybe a Little Clingy

Liu Yi nodded, then pointed to Chiying around her neck: “This is Chiying, a Moling Dragon. I contracted it in the Myriad Realm Secret Realm. It’s my second pet.”
“Moling.”
Chiying chirped cooperatively, its voice slightly childish, but its expression was very calm.
Auntie Chen’s eyes widened further. She opened her mouth, as if to ask countless questions, but ultimately just stepped aside from the doorway: “Come in first, I’ve made soup. You must be hungry.”
Fluffy Butler floated over, its soft fur gently nuzzling Liu Yi’s cheek in welcome home, then curiously circled Chiying.
Stepping into the living room, the familiar scent of home allowed Liu Yi’s nerves to relax.
The exhaustion from seven days of running around the Myriad Realm Secret Realm surged over her like a tide, and Liu Yi slumped onto the sofa for a while.
Ziyue walked over to a table, gently nudged the incubator on it with her nose, then looked back at Liu Yi.
“Bingbing?”
“Yes, put it in now.” Liu Yi pushed herself up from the armrest of the sofa, took the Blaze Lion pet egg from Auntie Chen, and carefully placed it into the incubator.
She adjusted the temperature settings, her fingertips lightly tapping the control panel: “Fire-type pet mode, a little higher temperature.”
The incubator lit up with a soft orange glow. In the light, the golden-red patterns looked like flowing flames.
“I’ll go warm up the soup.” Auntie Chen turned and headed to the kitchen, and Fluffy Butler immediately followed to help.
Boxing Bunny remained in the living room, peering at the egg inside the incubator through the glass.
“Quan Quan?”
It gently tapped the glass with its boxing glove.
Liu Yi smiled and sat back down on the sofa.
Chiying then slid down from her neck, coiled on her lap, and its crimson eyes began to survey its surroundings.
“You can go look around.” Liu Yi’s fingers gently combed the dragon manes on Chiying’s back.
“Moling.”
Chiying chirped, indicating it wasn’t necessary.
Seeing this, Ziyue withdrew her gaze from the Blaze Lion pet egg in the incubator.
She tilted her head, looked at Chiying, then suddenly turned and ran off.
Before long, Ziyue returned, carrying a Harmony Orb in her mouth.
“Bingbing.”
Ziyue placed the Harmony Orb in front of Chiying and nudged it with her nose.
Chiying stared at the glowing orb for a while before finally reaching out a paw to touch it.
The Harmony Orb immediately rolled, and Chiying felt a very gentle energy pulsation when it touched the ball, which made it feel very comfortable.
“Moling.”
Chiying chirped and slid off Liu Yi’s lap, chasing the ball.
Liu Yi watched Ziyue and Chiying interact, a smile unconsciously curving her lips.
“Soup’s ready!” Auntie Chen’s voice called from the kitchen. “Xiao Yi, you should go take a shower and change first. I’ll set out lunch.”
Only then did Liu Yi realize that after seven days in the Secret Realm, her body seemed to be covered in traces from various areas.
“Okay.” She stood up and glanced at Ziyue and Chiying, who were chasing the Harmony Orb. “Be careful not to bump into Auntie Chen when she comes out with the soup later. I’ll be right back.”
...
Stepping out of the bathroom, the aroma of lunch wafted towards her.
Auntie Chen had made seaweed egg drop soup, braised pork ribs, and dry-pot potato slices—all homemade dishes Liu Yi loved.
Chiying, still coiled around the Harmony Orb, was now settled on Liu Yi’s seat, head raised, observing the food on the table.
Ziyue sat nearby, already licking the latent energy pills in front of her.
“Come eat.” Auntie Chen served the rice and called out.
Liu Yi sat down next to Chiying and saw that Chiying was drinking the nutrient solution in front of it while occasionally glancing at the braised pork ribs on the table.
Once Chiying finished its nutrient solution, Liu Yi picked up a piece of pork rib and placed it on the small plate in front of it: “Want to try some?”
Chiying sniffed, then extended its tongue to lick it.
The next second, the entire pork rib was swept into its dragon mouth.
Auntie Chen was amused. “Does it like braised food? Or just meat?”
Liu Yi also laughed. “But this afternoon, I’ll go buy ingredients for its latent energy pills. Latent energy pills are more nutritious for them.”
After lunch, Liu Yi returned to her room to take a short nap before heading out.
After entering the room, Liu Yi took out the black-gold eggshell, now only fingernail-sized, from her backpack: “Chiying, aren’t you going to eat this?”
“Moling.”
Chiying shook its head. It nudged the eggshell with its tail, indicating that it had intentionally left it as a gift for Liu Yi.
Liu Yi understood. She pulled open a drawer, opened a small box, and placed the eggshell inside.
The drawer also contained the little fox ice sculpture Ziyue had made. Principal Shen had apparently used a special box, as the ice sculpture hadn’t melted inside it.
The moment she lay on the bed, Liu Yi let out a comfortable sigh. Seven days of sleeping in a tent sleeping bag in the Secret Realm was far worse than sleeping in a proper bed.
Just as Liu Yi was about to fall asleep, her phone’s notification sound suddenly rang.
She fumbled for her phone. The screen displayed a Beast Link message notification: a friend had commented on her post 【Thank you, Myriad Realm Secret Realm, for your gifts.】.
【Zimeng’s Dream: Ahhh, Liu Yi, you finally posted! What pet did you contract in the Myriad Realm Secret Realm? Photos please!! (★ω★)】
【The Beautiful Master of Cute Shadow: Also requesting photos! What kind of pet is it?】
【Green Lamp with Clouds: Congratulations, you reached 20% so quickly.】
【Zimeng’s Dream replied to Green Lamp with Clouds: !!! Nanyun found the key point! If Nanyun hadn’t said it, I wouldn’t have even thought of it! Liu Yi, your Beast Taming Space progress has already reached 20% so quickly?! @Yi】
Liu Yi lightly tapped her finger on the screen.
【Yi: It’s a Dragon and Poison-type Moling Dragon. As for photos, you might be able to see them on the Beast Encyclopedia in a couple of days.】
【Yi replied to Zimeng’s Dream: Meditate more, and train Diandian well, it will be useful.】
As soon as the message was sent, her phone vibrated.
【Zimeng’s Dream: Dragon-type?! Dragon-types are powerful, but aren’t they usually a bit arrogant? The ones you can buy in pet breeding bases are fine, but wild ones from a Secret Realm must be hard to manage! Σ(°△°|||)︴】
【The Beautiful Master of Cute Shadow: Oh my goodness! A Dragon-type! Liu Yi, you’re amazing! ヾ(≧▽≦*)o】
Before Liu Yi could reply, another private message popped up.
【Green Lamp with Clouds: From what you’re saying, is it a pet that wasn’t previously recorded in the Beast Encyclopedia?】
Liu Yi smiled, looking at these three private messages. Huo Nanyun’s observation was the most incisive.
After replying to each, she glanced at Chiying, who was coiled on Ziyue on the bed, its eyes already closed.
She recalled that when she said she was going to take a nap, both Ziyue and Chiying had indicated they wanted to stay with her. Moreover, Chiying had been very calm when first seeing things in the outside world.
Arrogant? Liu Yi remembered a previous post that also described Ice Foxes as having arrogant dispositions.
She, however, thought Ziyue and Chiying were both quite well-behaved, diligent, and thoughtful.
And perhaps a little clingy.
