Ziyue opened her mouth, unsure how to explain for a moment.
Chiying gently placed the Blaze Lion back on the bed.
“Mo.”
If it burns the TV, Master will be in trouble.
The Blaze Lion looked at the TV screen, then at Chiying, and lowered its head.
“Yanyan.”
It whimpered, a hint of grievance in its voice.
But it was fighting.
Ziyue sighed.
“Bingbing.”
That's not real; it's just an image. It won't get hurt, nor will it be defeated.
The Blaze Lion lifted its head, its golden eyes looking at Ziyue, then at the TV screen.
On the screen, the Dragon-type pet and the Flying-type pet were still fiercely clashing.
The Blaze Lion's tail swayed gently.
“Yanyan?”
It called out, its voice uncertain.
An image?
“Bingbing.”
Yes, an image.
The Blaze Lion tilted its head, watched for a moment, then got off the bed and walked to the TV screen.
It extended a tiny paw and gently touched the screen.
Ripples spread across the screen's surface, and the Dragon-type pet's face was half-covered by its paw.
The Blaze Lion retracted its paw, tilting its head as it watched the Dragon-type pet on the screen, its face half-obscured by where its paw had been.
“Yanyan.”
It chirped, its voice filled with sudden realization.
I can touch it, but it's not real.
Ziyue nodded, looking at its expression.
“Bingbing.”
Right, it's not real.
The Blaze Lion stepped back two paces and squatted on the bed again. Its tail gently swayed behind it, its golden eyes still fixed on the TV screen.
“Yanyan.”
It called out, this time with a hint of anticipation in its voice.
Can I do that too, then?
Ziyue froze for a moment, then turned to look at Chiying.
Chiying looked at the Blaze Lion, its tail gently swaying behind it.
“Mo.”
Yes.
The Blaze Lion's eyes lit up.
“Yanyan!”
It cried out excitedly.
...
When Liu Yi returned with the tray, she pushed the door open softly, but the Blaze Lion still noticed her immediately.
“Yanyan!”
Liu Yi smiled and placed the tray on the table.
“Were you waiting impatiently?”
“Yanyan!”
Ziyue ran to Liu Yi's feet, looked up at her, and called out.
“Bingbing.”
It just breathed fire at the TV.
Liu Yi paused, then turned to look at the TV screen, where the match was still playing.
She looked at the Blaze Lion.
The Blaze Lion was squatting on the bed, its golden eyes gazing at her innocently.
“Breathed fire?” Liu Yi asked.
“Bingbing.”
Ziyue nodded, its tail pointing towards the TV.
It was watching TV and wanted to help fight.
Liu Yi paused, then walked to the bed and reached out to rub the Blaze Lion's head.
“Yanyan.”
It whimpered, its golden eyes filled with an obvious plea.
Liu Yi smiled.
“Where do you want to go?”
The Blaze Lion nudged her palm with its nose, then her wrist, as if searching for something.
Liu Yi paused, then immediately understood.
It's looking for the Beast Taming Space.
“You want to go in?” she asked.
The Blaze Lion lifted its head, its golden eyes fixed on her, and let out a cry.
“Yanyan.”
Yes, I want to.
Liu Yi was silent for a second.
Her Beast Taming Space's development progress was at 29%, and new contract slots hadn't opened yet. The Blaze Lion couldn't enter right now.
“Not yet,” she said. “Wait a little longer.”
The Blaze Lion tilted its head, its golden eyes full of confusion.
“Yanyan?”
Why not?
Liu Yi gently rubbed its head. “Because you're not my contracted pet yet.”
“Yanyan?”
The Blaze Lion cried out again, its voice tinged with eagerness.
Then why don't you contract with me?
The Blaze Lion looked up, its golden eyes fixed on Liu Yi without blinking, seemingly waiting for a definite answer.
Liu Yi looked into those eyes, her heart melting completely.
“Soon,” she said, extending her hand and gently tapping the Blaze Lion's wet nose with her fingertip. “I promise.”
“Yanyan!”
The Blaze Lion's eyes lit up, its tail wagging rapidly behind it. The entire lion sprang from the bed and excitedly spun around several times.
It ran from the head of the bed to the foot, then back from the foot to the head, its tiny paws wrinkling the bedsheet into a mess.
The Blaze Lion finally stopped after several laps, panting as it flopped down in the center of the bed. Its golden fur had become fluffy from the running, making the entire lion look like an exploded golden cotton candy.
It rolled over, lying on its back, swiped its tiny paws twice in the air, then squinted its eyes contentedly.
“Yanyan~”
It purred, its voice soft and muffled, filled with the satisfaction of being full and having received a promise.
Liu Yi's lips unconsciously curved upwards as she watched its antics.
She reached out, scooped the Blaze Lion off the bed, and placed it on her lap. The Blaze Lion rolled over on her lap, exposing its fluffy belly, its tiny paws resting on her wrist, and its tail twitching.
Ziyue leaned over from the side, lowered her head, and gently nudged the Blaze Lion's belly with her nose.
The Blaze Lion, tickled by the touch, kicked out with a tiny paw, landing right on Ziyue's nose.
Ziyue pulled her head back, but there was no anger in her eyes.
“Bingbing.”
It's so soft.
Chiying floated over from the foot of the bed, hovering beside Liu Yi, looking down at the little golden lion exposing its belly.
The Blaze Lion sensed Chiying's approach, opened its eyes, and its golden gaze met the crimson eyes.
It tilted its head, then extended a tiny paw and swiped towards Chiying.
Chiying didn't dodge, letting the tiny paw swipe through the air.
Can't reach it.
After a few swipes, the Blaze Lion realized it couldn't touch Chiying, so its mouth drooped, and it let out a discontented whine.
“Yanyan!”
Chiying's tail swayed gently, and it slowly lowered itself until its nose was right next to the Blaze Lion's paw.
The Blaze Lion immediately swatted it.
With a soft “pat,” the tiny paw landed on Chiying's nose.
Chiying didn't budge.
The Blaze Lion contentedly retracted its paw, rolled over again, and lay on Liu Yi's lap.
Then it suddenly rolled back over.
It sat up on Liu Yi's lap, its golden eyes looking at Ziyue, then at Chiying, and then back at Ziyue.
Its gaze darted back and forth between Ziyue and Chiying several times, finally settling on Ziyue.
“Yanyan?”
It whimpered, tilting its head.
“Bingbing.”
Ziyue.
The Blaze Lion then looked at Chiying.
“Yanyan?”
“Mo.”
Chiying.
The Blaze Lion stared at Chiying for a few seconds, then lowered its head.
It lay on Liu Yi's lap, its tiny paws resting on her wrist, its tail hanging motionless behind it.
Ziyue leaned over from the side.
“Bingbing?”
What's wrong?
The Blaze Lion ignored it.
It buried its face into Liu Yi's lap, letting out a muffled cry.
“Yanyan...”
Liu Yi looked down at it, reaching out to gently rub its head.
The Blaze Lion lifted its head from her lap.
“Yanyan.”
It whimpered, its voice very soft.
They have names.
Liu Yi was taken aback.
I don't.
The Blaze Lion stood up from her lap, its tiny paws pressing on her thigh, its body leaning slightly forward, its golden eyes fixed intently on her.
“Yanyan! Yanyan! Yanyan!”
It cried out three times in a row, each louder than the last.
