Chapter 421 · Volume 1

Apostle Armament

"So beautiful, just like a jewel," Akabane Tsubaki murmured as she held the mechanical prosthetic eye up to the light.
In front of everyone's eyes, the girl forced the prosthetic eye into her right socket.
Akabane Tsubaki looked at the shabby dagger in her hand, pouted, and tossed it aside, instead picking up the dropped 'Alice' from the ground. She took two swings to test it, and finding the weight perfect, she broke into a happy smile.
Titans snapped out of it and roared, preparing to pounce back, but Akabane Tsubaki used her remaining arm to hoist Vlad II from the ground and pin her to her chest, holding the spiked club horizontally against her fragile neck.
Titans' massive body stiffened, and the members of the Age of the Dead, who had been ready to move, suddenly panicked.
"The boss is in her hands!"
"Oh no, she caught the boss!"
"We can discuss any terms you have! Release my sister, and we'll withdraw from this outpost!" Edward quickly stepped forward to shout.
"My terms are..." Akabane Tsubaki's voice was light and airy as she winked at the surrounding members of the Red Glow squad.
"You killed so many of our people, and yet you want to negotiate with me?"
"I don't want to talk terms with you at all!"
With that, she swung the club in a full circle and smashed Vlad II's head, instantly emptying her health bar and sending the girl out of the game.
"Guild leader!"
"Sister!"
"Master!!"
Titans, the first to react, roared and lunged, but he dissipated into the air before he could even touch the hem of Akabane Tsubaki's clothes. The surrounding members of the Age of the Dead could no longer hold back and swarmed forward, swearing to tear the girl to pieces to avenge their leader.
Akabane Tsubaki hummed a light tune, unhurriedly dodging the attacks as she spun around. She opened her wardrobe and picked out a Gothic-style short skirt to hold up against herself, nodding once she confirmed the size was right. In the brief intervals between movements, she dyed it in a black-and-white color scheme, decorating the chest with a dark red gemstone as an accent.
Her loose long hair automatically tied itself into twin tails, and her skull earrings dangled down, reflecting a lethal light.
At the same time, she turned her body slightly and swept her baseball bat out, smashing the heads of two people. Then, she equipped her long-treasured mechanical arm—Apostle Armament v1. This mechanical arm originated from the dungeon 'Doomsday Bunker' and was currently out of print.
The item's quality was legacy grade and soul-bound, meaning it would not be deleted with the change of seasons. It was the only one of its kind in the entire server.
The Apostle Armament began to automatically sample, adapt, and evolve according to its new host. Countless components interlocked, gradually connecting to the program system of the Extinction 3000 prosthetic eye, and usage permissions were granted.
After flexing her fingers slightly, Akabane Tsubaki aimed at another figure rushing toward her and fired. A searing stream of particles instantly blasted a hole through the person's chest.
Ssssh— A long hissing sound of escaping air followed as the heat-conducting vents on the mechanical arm popped up, releasing white steam. The ring-shaped light points glowed an irregular red, spitting out burning slag as several new incendiary rounds were loaded.
Her cross-shaped pupils contracted and focused, automatically locking onto another target. Akabane Tsubaki's mouth curled up, and a dozen miniature missiles flew out, turning the person into a pincushion.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A series of explosions rang out, and countless people writhed and wailed in the fire, burned to ashes.
Logically speaking, for a shadow striker to equip themselves with mechanical cybernetics would have the opposite of the desired effect.
Not only would it impact stealth, but it would also be easily detected by electronic equipment, increasing the risk of exposure and potentially reducing their own mobility. Therefore, the consensus among the stealth classes was that at least the body parts must be original.
But Akabane Tsubaki didn't want to listen to logic anymore.
She had realized that since there were always people in this world who didn't listen to reason, why couldn't she be one of them?
If it affected stealth, she would just get a set of jewelry with optical cloaking properties. If she was worried about being detected by electronics, she would spend money to buy a stealth coating. If she feared a lack of mobility, then wouldn't it be fine if she just blasted the enemies into dust from a distance?
As long as one's thinking didn't stagnate, there were always more solutions than problems.
Akabane Tsubaki and her shadow clone stood back-to-back. Her mechanical arm transformed into a light machine gun, its long ammo belt dragging on the ground, and she fired wildly at the people from the Age of the Dead in the room.
Seeing the way the people scurried around with their heads in their hands under the hail of bullets, the girl burst into laughter.
All the heavy firepower she had hoarded in the past was put to use today. Thermite bombs, fragmentation grenades, arc darts, incendiary cannons, and micro-missiles were unleashed in a frantic bombardment as if they cost nothing.
The members of the Red Glow squad watched with shock. Just the amount of firepower she had poured out must have cost at least a hundred thousand federal shields. It was hard to imagine why their vice guild leader, a shadow striker, would have so much heavy weaponry in her warehouse.
Someone had just crept up behind Akabane Tsubaki, but before they could act, a dagger flying from the shadows pierced their neck, killing them on the spot.
Several Red Glow members quickly coordinated and joined the fray, launching a purge of the Age of the Dead. Su Sui moved swiftly through the crowd, her tachi and wakizashi flashing continuously, leaving a trail of blood wherever she went.
"Brothers, grab your gear and fight this crazy woman to the end!" someone shouted after being suppressed into a corner.
"Fight them! We still have so many people; we could drown them in spit if we had to! Don't retreat, push forward!"
"Are you all useless? Just a few people have you running everywhere! No retreating! I'll take over full command now!" A squad leader from the Age of the Dead stepped forward.
"Where are the priests? Priests, take the front! Combatants, follow right behind them! Stealthers, flank them! Hunters, go cut off their retreat! What are you magic-users standing there for? Fight back, dammit!"
"Where are the people from the Grave of the Undead? Get over here and help us pin them in from both sides!"
As the members of the Age of the Dead united in hatred and launched a counterattack, the situation seemed about to turn against them again. Su Sui approached the red-haired girl. Akabane Tsubaki's gun barrel was currently overheating, and she was reloading the Apostle Armament.
"There are too many of them, and the reinforcements from the Grave of the Undead will be here soon. We won't last long at this rate."
"Don't worry, I didn't just rush in here on a whim," Akabane Tsubaki said. "Look, the reinforcements have arrived."
Following the direction the girl pointed, many cats wearing small crowns appeared on the periphery at some point. The reinforcements from the Grave of the Undead were intercepted and killed before they could even arrive.
"No, it's the King's Clan! The people from the King's Clan are here! Ah!"
Before the person could finish their shout, their throat was sliced by a long-handled blade. Yan Ze led the charge, rushing into the crowd and using Blood Aura Burst to forcibly tear through the line the Age of the Dead had just formed.
"The King's Clan? That's impossible! Why would they be here?"
Without Vlad II, this bunch of desperadoes was nothing more than a motley crew.
Upon discovering that the newcomers were actually from the King's Clan, the members of the Age of the Dead were thrown into chaos, looking around in confusion and indecision.
"Charge in! We can't just stand by while everyone from the Light-Chaser Garden struggles!" Yan'an shouted as he waved his small flag. Several petite figures flew past him, dealing with anyone who tried to stop them.
The inspiring battle cries echoed, but they only served to terrify the remaining members of the Age of the Dead. Under the encirclement of the elite army from the King's Clan, the desperadoes couldn't even put up a resistance. Their morale crumbled, and they no longer cared about fighting back. No matter how the commanders screamed themselves hoarse, everyone fled for their lives, terrified that the data they had worked so hard to accumulate would be wiped out.
Just as they ran into an open area, the members of the King's Clan, who had been lying in wait on three sides, peered over the top and surrounded them.
They instinctively backed away, only to see Yan Ze leading a group of people in pursuit.
"Quick, log out of the Oasis! Save our combat strength!" Edward's mind raced, and he immediately shouted.
"Oh no! They've used disruption items!"
After discovering that they couldn't even exit the game, a pale sense of despair rose from within these desperadoes. The feeling of shooting themselves in the foot...
They could only place their last hope on the red-haired girl walking out with the baseball bat.
"His Excellency Dark Gold Rose said that anyone who surrenders to the Light-Chaser Garden will be treated well. We surrender! Let us join you! We'll do anything you want!"
Akabane Tsubaki smiled.
"Surrender, my ass. Kill them."
