Chapter 83 · Volume 1

Extraordinary Organizations Are Popping Up One by One

Among the dark green beams flying everywhere, one was heading straight for War Freya. However, her dynamic vision was extremely sharp, and her reflexes were incredibly fast. With a slight tilt of her head, she easily dodged the attack, which flew at a speed comparable to a gunshot.
Clearly, the protruding-tongue masked man must have been killed by this group. They had intentionally left his corpse at the meeting spot he had agreed upon with the fanged wild boar masked man, and then followed the latter to successfully locate this extraordinary gathering.
But... why didn't they just interrogate the protruding-tongue masked man for the time and location of the gathering and come directly? Well, that was easily explained. The gathering had changed locations this time, and even the participants didn't know the venue beforehand.
In that case, why didn't they just torture him for the meeting spot with the fanged wild boar masked man, stake it out in advance, and follow him? Why go through the trouble of leaving the corpse there?
Her thoughts flashed by in an instant. War Freya shifted her focus back to the present. Although the wild extraordinaries attending the gathering weren't necessarily good people, these attackers were clearly far worse.
War Freya sprang to her feet, stepping onto a chair and then onto the stone table, charging straight at the nearest white skull masked attacker.
With a slight exertion of force, her slender calves—not even as thick as an adult man's forearm—unleashed an indescribably immense power, instantly causing cracks to spiderweb across the table and chair beneath her feet.
Leaping directly above one of the white skull masked men, War Freya delivered a devastating whip kick.
“Boom!”
A sonic boom echoed through the air as the strike landed squarely on the man's head without suspense, instantly shattering it and exploding him into a cloud of blood mist!
“Holy shit!”
Several wild extraordinaries present couldn't help but curse at the sight. One even blurted out, “What kind of extraordinary ability is that? How did he turn into a blood mist to escape?”
Another retorted, “Are you fucking blind? He was clearly kicked to pieces!”
There were about five of the white skull masked attackers in the first wave. The remaining four raised their hands, mimicking the shape of pistols, and aimed at War Freya in midair. Dark green beams condensed and fired in an instant.
Although War Freya was extremely tanky, she decided it was better not to take an unfamiliar attack head-on. What if it was some sort of status-effect or instant-kill ability?
In midair, War Freya activated her Stance Recovery ability, followed by a double jump. Dodging the four beams, she dove straight into the crowd. Swinging her right arm in a wide arc, she unleashed a sweeping hook that slammed into two of the white skull masked men.
While not as exaggerated as the first one who was pulverized into blood mist, the two were merely grazed by her fist, yet they flew backward like ragdolls, smashing shallow, human-shaped craters into the dirt walls.
At this moment, the gathering's organizer, the white-masked man, also came to help. However, it wasn't him personally, but rather one of the two black-robed figures who always accompanied him. The black-robed figure stepped to the side and lifted its robe, revealing a body constructed entirely of soil.
It was actually a clay golem. It possessed four arms; two pinned down the shoulders of a white skull masked attacker, while the other two punched like rapid pile drivers. The creature even opened its mouth, spitting out a barrage of thin steel needles.
Using the Earth Pathway's Earth Manipulation ability to create a clay golem, and then modifying and strengthening it? She had to admit, this fit the Scholar Pathway perfectly.
With that, only one white skull masked attacker remained. Despite being at an extreme disadvantage, this guy showed no intention of retreating. He raised his hand again, aiming at War Freya, and fired another dark green beam.
Because the attacker was so decisive, War Freya couldn't dodge in time. The beam struck her shoulder, and... nothing happened. She felt absolutely nothing, as if she hadn't been hit at all.
War Freya glanced at the others who had been hit by the beams during the initial ambush; they were still rolling on the ground, wailing in agony. So, the issue wasn't the attack itself, but her own sheer tankiness. Had she simply negated the damage?
What kind of ability was this?
As she pondered, War Freya reached out and grabbed the man by the throat. With her other hand, she gripped his mask and ripped it off.
Yes, ripped. As she did, War Freya realized that the man's mask was actually fused to his face. Once the mask was torn away, it revealed horrific, grotesque muscle tissue beneath. Two bulging, round eyeballs stared fixedly at War Freya, presenting a truly ghastly sight.
“What is wrong with this guy?”
The white-masked man spoke up, “They are... members of the Holy Blessing Society.”
“Holy Blessing Society?” War Freya actually recognized the name. She had seen it not long ago in the memories of that scammer exorcist.
The Holy Blessing Society was where the scammer had obtained his Death potion. It was a complete cult filled with lunatics. Back then, the scammer had only pretended to join, mouthing off about spilling his blood for the organization and offering absolute faith to their god, but in reality, he was just conning them.
Once he got his hands on the Death potion, he immediately fled as far as he could. While he wasn't a good person, he was at most a petty swindler; he had absolutely no intention of sacrificing everything for some evil god.
In that case, did it mean that all these attackers targeting the extraordinary gathering were extraordinaries of the Death Pathway?
War Freya looked at the white-masked man and asked, “Do you know what ability they just used?”
The white-masked man replied, “That is a Rank One ability of the Death Pathway, Death Ray. It converts spirituality into pure negative energy and fires it as a beam to damage whoever it hits. If an ordinary person takes a direct hit, they might die on the spot.”
War Freya: “???”
A Rank One ability? One-shotting people? Isn't that a bit too ridiculous?
The white-masked man added, “However, if the target has extremely strong vitality, the effect is quite mediocre.”
To put it simply, it was an attack that dealt a flat one hundred points of true damage. An ordinary person's health bar was only one hundred, so getting hit meant instant death. For extraordinaries, their health pool would be higher, and as for War Freya... she was a massive HP tank. Consequently, the attack hadn't affected her in the slightest.
