Li Yue forcibly shifted her attention and placed the pair of eyes into the Death Abyss. Curiously, compared to many other holders of God's remains, the relationship between her and these remains was far too special.
Many mages had died during the adaptation phase. If one could not accept the remains or force their body to adapt, the only outcome was death. Furthermore, holding a single piece already made the possibility of a backlash when absorbing a second piece increasingly likely, and the physical burden when casting magic would grow exponentially.
Li Yue was entirely different. The God's remains were completely adapting to and changing her. Even if she resisted, they would persistently influence her choices in her daily actions. As the number of remains increased, she never felt a shred of pressure or backlash. It was as if they were determined to follow this master.
Li Yue landed steadily. She was in no hurry to absorb the God's remains. Although her subconscious urged her to do so as quickly as possible, she still felt a flicker of resistance.
She was becoming less like herself. If she eventually lost her own identity, the meaning of her journey and existence would vanish. She decided that the Death Abyss would likely be her final piece of God's remains.
The giant snake "looked" down at her. Though it was only a stone statue, Li Yue felt the sensation of being watched. A blood-red curtain of light enveloped her, and her consciousness gradually blurred, as if she were about to enter a dream.
When the afternoon sunlight once again flickered against the corner of her eyes, it was already twilight. She shifted her body and discovered that her entire torso seemed to be underwater, while her head could slowly emerge above the surface.
Her entire body was pressed against the seabed; it was a strange sensation. She lifted her head completely out of the water. The afternoon sun felt somewhat warm. She looked at the sky, which was a fiery red as if ignited. A giant dragon soared through the air, a silhouette she found very familiar.
She tried to emerge further to see the beautiful sky. As she raised her head, the sea level began to drop rapidly, and several reefs began to reveal their original forms.
She could not feel her magic, but she could feel her own powerlessness.
She slowly pulled her head back into the water, as if she had been doing this for a very, very long time. How long had she been trapped here, isolated from the secular world?
She didn't remember. It seemed that ever since the ancient War of the Gods, she had been here, entrusted with the command to isolate the secular world. She had remained here for an unknown number of years.
But now, the era of twilight was coming. There was nothing left that could bind her...
She watched as the sky turned from a clean azure to orange-red, then to a vivid scarlet, and finally to a blood-soaked sky, as if it had been stained by gore.
She broke free from her shackles with ease. Her body left the darkness between the worlds, and the people of the secular world were finally able to receive the sun's rays equally.
You were too afraid of humans because you molded them after your own image. Therefore... if a few humans resemble you, it is not their fault. The inherent evil of humanity did not originate from any magic box. Divinity is inherent evil, and humanity is inherent evil. Since humanity is inherently evil, the divinity created from it is also sinful.
No god is willing to admit their own evil. They chose to be high and mighty, isolating the secular world while simultaneously relying on its faith. They are so sinful, toys of their own authority.
They isolated the secular world out of fear, and I was the one who had to bear the price... It is unfair, but I hold no hatred.
Humans die, and so will they. To lead them to death—that is the duty of my authority.
Those are all high-sounding reasons, but my reason for doing this is simple: I was discarded in the secular world for tens of thousands of years. They should be prepared to accept my revenge.
Regardless... the day for them to die has come. All men must die, and so must gods... because fate only ever puts pen to paper in the future.
She leaped out of the sea. If a god stands in the way, kill the god.
At the peak of that mountain, she saw the "corpse" of Destruction fall from the highest heaven. She knew that Destruction would not die; just like death, it was simply another beginning.
Regardless of justice, regardless of right or wrong, she killed because she needed to kill. They died because they were meant to die.
Everything was perishing. One by one, the people in the temple woke up in a start. The universe has a cycle; it is created and it is destroyed. The death of a god is the destruction of a universe and the beginning of another creation. The prophecy of twilight was nothing more than fate’s spoiler. The more they feared it, the faster fate arrived.
As for fate itself, it can only be held by those who have fooled fate. And fate is a bargaining chip for trade—but of course, all of that is a story for later.
The slaughter in the dream continued. Li Yue did not remember how many deities she had killed. She only felt a bit tired, her body covered in wounds, while within her belly lay the countless severed limbs of the gods she had devoured.
She sat atop the head of the giant snake, looking down at the final god in the temple. He had split his spirit and his powerful body in an attempt to fool the prophecy of fate.
No god could pause or slow down time anymore, because the god who governed time had his hands personally severed by her, and every authority used to record time had been shattered.
The time of twilight had arrived. Now, this King of Gods was to meet his death. At this moment, even a blade of grass could kill him. She decided to end his life personally. With just one bite, she easily swallowed his divine body, and that immense power was hidden within her—the power of having devoured countless gods.
She walked into the temple. The spirit of the King of Gods was slowly shattering. There was another torso here, a new fruit from the World Tree. Although it could not compare to his divine body, it was ownerless and could accommodate any living being.
It was a perfect organism, but... ultimately, it was still just an organism. As long as it was an organism, it would die.
By the time she walked out of the temple, there were no gods left. The spirit in the temple had shattered, turning into one final dream that fell to the secular world. She let out a long sigh of relief.
Li Yue slowly woke up. Everything began to shatter, and at the center of this breaking world, a translucent crystal coffin sat open. Within it lay a complete body that had been hacked into many pieces.
