Chapter 99 · Volume 1

Void Rift

The shadow entity hovered high in the sky, looking down silently.
It raised the World-Devouring Sword and swung a beam of sword light.
The pitch-black sword light instantly carved a chasm through heaven and earth, slashing horizontally toward her.
Lilith didn't even have time to think. She could only raise her arms in front of her, using all her magic for defense.
The sword light struck Lilith’s arms.
“Pfft!!!”
Blood splattered.
Blood immediately gushed from Lilith’s arms, and the sound of bones snapping echoed.
But that wasn't the most terrifying part.
The most terrifying part was the power contained within the sword light.
It felt like the weight of an entire world had slammed into Lilith.
“Boom!!!”
Lilith was sent flying backward through the air before crashing into the ground.
“Cough... cough, cough...”
She lay on the ground, coughing violently. With every cough, a mouthful of blood spilled from her lips.
Her arms were trembling. That single strike had nearly cost her her life.
“How is this possible...”
She looked up at the shadow in the distance, her eyes filled with shock.
That sword was the World-Devouring Sword.
But held in the shadow’s hand, it unleashed power far beyond her imagination.
She remembered that when Orosius used the sword, although he was strong, he was absolutely nothing like this.
What on earth was this shadow entity?
“Go, quickly!”
At that moment, the God King’s voice rang out.
He stood in front of Lilith, his back to her, facing the shadow.
“I’ll hold it off. You escape from here and use time reversal immediately!”
Hearing this, Lilith looked at the God King at once.
The God King didn't look back, but his voice was firm and resolute.
Lilith grit her teeth.
She knew this was no time for hesitation.
That shadow was too strong—strong beyond her understanding.
Even if she and the God King joined forces, they might not necessarily win.
Moreover, time reversal had already been prohibited.
“Go!”
The God King shouted, and a dazzling golden light erupted from his body.
That golden light was more intense and more holy than ever before.
Within the golden light, the scepter in the God King’s hand began to change.
The gems on the scepter shattered into powder, then re-condensed, transforming into a sword.
A golden longsword.
The blade was slender and sharp, and the hilt was carved with complex patterns, emitting an ancient and majestic aura.
That was the power of a Primordial God.
The God King was utilizing the divine power from the box.
“Vrrr!!!”
The longsword vibrated, letting out a crisp ring.
As the God King gripped the golden sword, his aura began to skyrocket.
From the God rank peak, to surpassing the God rank, and finally, stopping at an indescribable level.
It was the level of a Primordial God.
Though it would only last ten minutes, for those ten minutes, he was a Primordial God.
“Come.”
The God King looked at the shadow, his gaze icy.
The shadow didn't move.
It simply watched the God King quietly, slightly raising the World-Devouring Sword.
In the next second, both figures vanished simultaneously.
“Boom!!!”
Golden and black sword lights collided in mid-air, producing a deafening roar.
The entire Eternal Abyss shook; the rock walls cracked, and debris tumbled down.
Lilith lay on the ground, watching the battle in the air, her pupils contracting.
It was too fast.
So fast she couldn't see them at all.
She could only see two blurred shadows constantly colliding, separating, and colliding again in the sky.
Every collision unleashed a terrifying surge of energy that drove back the surrounding darkness.
“So this is... the power of a Primordial God...”
But the shadow was not weak either.
Wielding the World-Devouring Sword, every swing brought forth a sheet of black sword light that shattered the God King’s golden strikes.
The two were locked in a stalemate, neither able to gain the upper hand.
But Lilith knew the God King only had ten minutes.
After ten minutes, the Primordial Divine Power would vanish, and the God King would return to his original state.
At that point, he would surely die.
“I have to go...”
Lilith struggled to her feet, glanced at the battle in the air, and then turned to rush toward the Void Rift.
She didn't know what was inside the rift, but right now, she couldn't worry about that.
Staying here meant certain death.
Entering the rift might offer a sliver of hope.
“Whoosh!!!”
Her figure transformed into a streak of red light and plunged into the rift.
...
The void.
The endless void.
The moment Lilith rushed into the rift, she felt a powerful suction.
That suction was like an invisible hand, grabbing her and dragging her into the depths.
She wanted to resist, but her injuries were too severe, and she couldn't muster any strength.
She could only let the suction pull her, drifting through the void.
After drifting for an unknown amount of time, the suction finally vanished.
Lilith stopped, hovering in the void.
She opened her eyes and looked around.
This place was a vacuum of nothingness.
There was no light, no sound, no matter—nothing at all.
There was only endless darkness and a deathly silence.
“This place is...”
Lilith frowned, wanting to circulate her magic, but as soon as she moved, she felt a surge of intense pain.
Her arms were still bleeding, and her internal organs were in turmoil.
That sword strike had wounded her too deeply.
“I need to heal first...”
She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and began to channel her magic to treat her injuries.
Dark red magic flowed from her body, wrapping around her like a cocoon.
Inside the cocoon, her wounds began to close, the bleeding stopped, and her broken bones knit back together.
But the process was very slow.
Because her injuries were so severe, and she couldn't use time magic to restart her own state here.
She could only rely on her own magic reserves to repair herself bit by bit.
Time passed slowly.
After an unknown amount of time, Lilith finally opened her eyes.
Though she hadn't fully recovered, she could at least move.
She looked around; it was still the same nothingness.
“What kind of place is this exactly...”
She whispered to herself and began to explore.
...
The Eternal Abyss.
The battle continued.
The God King and the shadow had been fighting for five minutes.
Five minutes was short for an ordinary person, but for them, it felt like five years had passed.
Every second was a walk on the edge of life and death.
Every strike could decide the outcome.
The God King gripped the golden longsword, the golden light on his body already having dimmed slightly.
The power of a Primordial God was immense, but the consumption was equally vast.
In five minutes, he had already consumed a third of his power.
The shadow, however, seemed untiring, still maintaining its peak state.
“I can't let this drag on...”
The God King’s gaze hardened as he made a decision.
Ten minutes was his limit.
He had to resolve the battle within those ten minutes.
Furthermore, he had to wipe out the shadow entity and all the shadows here.
Otherwise, once the Primordial Divine Power vanished, he would be dead.
The God King swung the longsword again.
A golden sword light, like a golden waterfall, cascaded from the heavens to strike the shadow.
Everywhere the sword light passed, the darkness was dispelled and the void was torn apart.
This strike contained all the strength of a Primordial God.
The shadow raised the World-Devouring Sword to block it head-on.
“Clang!!!”
The golden sword light struck the World-Devouring Sword, letting out a deafening boom.
The ground beneath the shadow instantly shattered and collapsed, forming a massive crater.
It held the World-Devouring Sword and blocked the strike.
“How is this possible...”
The God King’s pupils shrank.
He had used all his strength in that strike.
Yet the shadow had actually blocked it.
“No...”
The God King suddenly noticed that the shadow’s body was trembling.
It was subtle, but it was definitely trembling.
Moreover, a crack had appeared on the World-Devouring Sword.
A tiny crack.
“It’s working!”
The God King’s eyes lit up as he rushed toward the shadow.
He unleashed three consecutive slashes, each one imbued with the power of a Primordial God.
With three loud booms, the crater beneath the shadow expanded again.
More cracks appeared on the World-Devouring Sword.
“Dammit...”
The God King grit his teeth and checked the time.
Only three minutes left.
In three minutes, the Primordial Divine Power would vanish.
When that happened, he would be finished.
“I must end this quickly...”
He took a deep breath and poured all his remaining power into the longsword.
“The final strike...”
He let out a low roar and swung the final blow.
This strike was stronger than any before it.
Where the sword light passed, the void shattered and time froze.
The entire Eternal Abyss trembled under the weight of this blow.
The shadow finally moved.
It looked up at the approaching light and raised the World-Devouring Sword.
“Vrrr!!!”
The World-Devouring Sword vibrated, letting out a piercing shriek.
The cracks on the blade began to glow, like black lightning coursing over the sword.
Then, the shadow swung.
A black sword light soared into the sky to meet the golden light.
The two sword lights collided in the air.
“Boom!!!”
This time, there was no sound.
Only silence.
Absolute silence.
Then, light erupted.
Golden and black light, like two suns, exploded within the Eternal Abyss.
Everything the light touched was consumed.
The rock walls, the debris, the shadows, even the darkness itself was devoured by the radiance.
The entire Eternal Abyss turned into an ocean of light.
...
The void.
Lilith hovered in mid-air when she suddenly felt a sharp pang of dread.
She looked up in a certain direction.
That was the direction of the Eternal Abyss.
Even across the endless void, she could still feel the terrifying surge of energy.
