In the endless darkness.
Lilith and the God King were plummeting.
They were surrounded by dense swarms of shadows that surged like a tide, attempting to block their path.
But Lilith had already figured them out.
Two time restarts and one death had given her a thorough understanding of these monsters' attack patterns.
Ranged attacks? If the power gap wasn't massive, she could forcibly deflect or dodge them.
The primary attack method of these things was close combat.
Simple, crude, and lethal.
But once their weaknesses were known, it became easy to manage.
“Concentrate your magic on your body and fly at full power.”
Lilith glanced at the God King, a cold smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth.
“Since there are more of them the further down we go, we’ll just fly straight through.”
The God King nodded.
“Fine.”
Without any unnecessary words, both of them erupted with power to their absolute limits.
Dark red magic surged from Lilith, burning like fire and staining the surrounding darkness with a layer of blood-red.
The God King radiated a golden divine light, holy and majestic, creating a sharp contrast with Lilith’s magic.
Two streaks of light, one red and one gold, carved two brilliant trajectories through the darkness.
“Go!”
Lilith gave a low shout, her figure transforming into a red meteor as she charged downward.
The God King followed close behind, his golden light trailing her tightly.
The shadows tried to block them.
They swarmed from all directions like a black tide, attempting to drown the two of them.
But Lilith didn't dodge at all.
She rammed straight into them.
“Boom!!!”
The shadows that struck Lilith’s mana were instantly shredded, dissolving into black smoke and vanishing.
Lilith rampaged through the shadow swarm, which scattered and collapsed wherever she passed.
Following behind, the God King watched with a racing heart.
He knew Lilith was strong, but he hadn't expected her to be this powerful.
Each of these shadows possessed significant strength; though their physical forms were fragile, their sheer numbers were overwhelming.
If it were him, even if he could kill them, he would eventually be worn down to death.
But Lilith was carving through them like she was cutting grass, crushing everything in her path.
“Their power and physical resilience are completely disproportionate,” Lilith muttered to herself as she flew.
“How can they have such strength but such weak physical bodies? It’s illogical no matter how you look at it.”
She recalled the experience of being killed instantly the first time.
That pitch-black hand had pierced her chest and crushed her heart.
That level of power had definitely reached the God rank.
Yet these shadows before her, while not weak, had bodies as fragile as paper that shattered upon contact.
“Though this is fine too,” she thought.
The corner of her mouth quirked up.
“It makes killing them much more convenient.”
...
Flying at full speed.
After five minutes, the surrounding darkness began to thin.
The number of shadows also decreased, shifting from dense swarms to scattered individuals.
After another minute of flight, the shadows disappeared entirely.
Silence reigned, surrounded only by endless darkness.
“We’re here.”
Lilith stopped, hovering in the air.
The God King also came to a halt, standing beside her.
They both looked down.
There, at the deepest part of the Eternal Abyss.
A vast void.
Within that void, a massive vortex was slowly rotating.
The vortex was black—deeper and purer than the surrounding gloom.
It was like an eye, quietly watching from below.
“This is...”
The God King’s pupils constricted.
“A Void Rift.”
Lilith nodded.
“Yes.”
She stared at the vortex with a solemn expression.
Void Rifts connected different planes and were the most unstable areas of space.
Usually, such rifts only appeared at the edges of a world and were extremely unstable, liable to collapse at any moment.
But this rift was exceptionally stable, as if it had existed for countless ages.
“The shadows came from in there,” Lilith said.
The God King nodded.
“It seems we’ve found the source.”
The two shared a look and then descended slowly, approaching the vortex.
The closer they got to the vortex, the greater the pressure became.
It felt as if something was watching them, weighing down on their very souls.
“Be careful,” Lilith whispered, covering her body in magic.
The God King also released his divine power to protect himself.
Finally, they reached the edge of the vortex.
This was the deepest part of the Eternal Abyss.
It was pitch black all around, with only the vortex rotating slowly and emitting a faint glow.
The light was dark purple, resembling both a starry sky and a bottomless pit.
“Let’s split up and explore,” Lilith said.
The God King nodded.
The two separated, heading left and right to investigate the area.
Lilith flew to the left.
It was very empty; there was nothing there.
No, it wasn't that there was nothing.
She sensed a familiar aura.
The aura was very faint, almost masked by the energy of the vortex, but she still detected it.
“This is...”
Her brow furrowed as she flew toward the source of the aura.
The further she flew, the clearer the aura became.
Finally, she reached the source.
There sat a black stone.
The stone wasn't large—only about the size of a fist—and it was entirely pitch-black and smooth, like a piece of dark jade.
But when Lilith saw this stone, her expression changed.
Because the aura emanating from this stone was exactly the same as the World-Devouring Sword.
“The World-Devouring Sword...”
She whispered to herself, reaching out to touch the stone.
But at that moment, the God King’s voice came from the other side.
“Lilith, come look at this!”
Lilith pulled her hand back and flew toward the God King.
The God King was standing on the other side of the vortex, staring at something with a heavy expression.
“What is it?” Lilith asked as she reached his side.
The God King pointed ahead.
There lay a corpse.
A massive corpse.
The body had dried up, leaving only a skeleton, but the frame was enormous—at least ten meters tall.
The skeleton was golden and radiated a faint divine light.
“This is...” Lilith’s pupils shrank.
“One of the god race?”
“No,” the God King shook his head. “It’s a Primordial God.”
Lilith was stunned.
“A Primordial God?”
“Yes,” the God King nodded, his voice low. “The aura on this skeleton is identical to a Primordial God. I suspect this is the one that went missing.”
Lilith fell silent.
She looked at the skeleton, then at the black stone in the distance, an ominous premonition rising in her heart.
The aura of the World-Devouring Sword, the corpse of a Primordial God, the Void Rift...
What was the connection between all these things?
Suddenly, an anomaly occurred.
“Vrrr!!!”
The vortex began to vibrate violently.
The dark purple light flared up, illuminating the entire abyss.
Lilith and the God King retreated simultaneously, watching the vortex warily.
A figure slowly emerged from within the vortex.
It was a shadow.
Like the previous shadows, it had no physical form—it was merely a blurred mass of darkness.
However, its aura was countless times stronger than the previous shadows.
So powerful that it made Lilith’s heart skip a beat.
“This is...”
Lilith’s face paled.
This thing was far more powerful than the other shadows.
If the God King didn't use the power of a Primordial God, they wouldn't be able to stand against it at all.
But now was clearly not the time for a real battle.
Lilith made a snap decision.
“Restart.”
Lilith immediately raised her hand, preparing to restart time.
But at that moment, the shadow entity spoke.
“I do not allow it.”
The voice was flat, devoid of emotion, yet it carried an unquestionable authority.
In the next second, Lilith felt her time reversal fail.
Time was frozen.
The time around her was like a block of solid ice—it could not flow, and it could not be reversed.
“What’s going on?”
Lilith was filled with shock.
“Are you kidding me?”
The God King was equally shocked.
“What kind of thing can actually interfere with time reversal?”
He looked at the shadow entity, his eyes full of vigilance.
The shadow entity did not answer.
It simply raised its hand slowly and grasped at the void.
“Crack!!!”
The void shattered.
Then, a sword fell out from the crack.
It was a black sword with a slender body, a sharp blade, and complex patterns carved into the hilt.
A thick, dark aura emanated from the blade, as if it could devour everything.
When Lilith saw this sword, her pupils dilated.
Because she recognized this sword.
It was the very weapon she had sealed...
The World-Devouring Sword.
