Samael’s figure landed silently at the edge of the plaza.
The first thing he saw was Lilith, sitting on the stone steps looking somewhat bored.
The young girl’s features were delicate, but there were no obvious magic fluctuations coming from her body.
“Interesting...” Samael whispered in his heart, though his face quickly adopted the impeccable etiquette of a noble.
He straightened his clothes and walked toward Lilith with a composed stride.
Behind him, Derrick and the four Shadow Guards quietly fanned out, forming a loose encirclement.
Stopping about five meters from Lilith, Samael placed his right hand over his chest and gave a slight bow.
“Good evening, beautiful lady. Although I am unaware of any grudge between us, you have taken the lives of my subordinates here without permission...”
He straightened up, his pupils fixed on Lilith. A smile played on his lips, but his eyes were as cold as frost.
“...Should you not give me a reasonable explanation for this?”
Lilith looked up at him, then couldn't help but wrinkle her nose, a hint of disgust appearing on her face.
“Enough, enough,” Lilith waved her hand, her tone full of impatience.
She stood up and patted the dust off her skirt.
“An explanation?” Lilith tilted her head, looking at Samael. “I am the Demon King. Do I really need to report to you when I’m disciplining my own troublemaking subordinates?”
The elegant smile on Samael’s face froze instantly.
Behind him, the auras of Derrick and the Shadow Guards flickered with slight fluctuations.
Then, Samael began to laugh softly, the sound bubbling up from his throat with undisguised mockery.
“Heh... hehe... Hahaha!” He laughed as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world, his shoulders trembling slightly. “Impersonating the Demon King? Beautiful lady, your courage... is truly great enough to surprise even me.”
The laughter stopped abruptly.
Samael’s gaze turned sharply cold as dark red magic surged around him. The terrifying pressure of a Rank 7 peak expert erupted violently!
“But unfortunately, there is a price for impersonating the Demon King. And that price is usually... your life.”
The moment the last word fell, Samael’s figure vanished.
A second later, he appeared directly in front of Lilith! The distance between them was less than half a meter.
The five fingers of his right hand formed a claw as he lunged for Lilith’s throat! He didn't hold back in the slightest, striking with lethal intent and the full power of the Rank 7 peak!
Time seemed to stretch in that moment.
The light of victory already shone in the eyes of Derrick and the Shadow Guards.
They could almost see the pathetic sight of this overconfident girl having her throat crushed by Lord Samael.
However.
Just a split second before Samael’s fingertips could touch Lilith’s neck.
He saw the resigned look in Lilith’s eyes.
Then, with a loud “thud,” the confidence on Samael’s face was instantly replaced by shock!
He felt a terrifying force slam violently into his chest!
His sturdy demon physique emitted the sound of shattering bones, and then his entire body was sent flying backward!
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!!!
His body crashed through several buildings in succession, finally slamming into the ruins and kicking up a massive cloud of dust.
The expressions on the faces of Derrick and the Shadow Guards froze completely, as if they had witnessed the most impossible sight in the world.
The incredibly powerful Lord Samael in their hearts... was sent flying... by a single punch?
“Cough... cough, cough, cough...”
Violent coughing came from the distant ruins.
Samael struggled to climb out of the rubble, his formal attire now tattered and ruined.
His chest was visibly sunken in, and dark red blood—seemingly mixed with fragments of internal organs—constantly seeped from the corners of his mouth.
He stumbled as he stood firm, looking toward the girl still standing in the center of the plaza, his eyes filled with unbelievable terror.
“What... what happened?” he forced out, every word pulling at the sharp pain in his chest. “That power... how is it possible...”
Right then.
Lilith took the initiative to cancel Veen’s disguise spell.
In an instant, a pair of exquisite small horns quietly emerged from her white hair.
At the same time, an indescribable aura quietly spread out with her as the center.
In the presence of this aura, the magic surrounding Samael began to tremble uncontrollably, as if it had met its sovereign!
Samael felt as if he had been struck by lightning, freezing in place.
He stared fixedly at Lilith, his mind going blank.
A thought that chilled his entire body flooded his mind.
Damn it! How is she really the Demon King?! And why... why would the Demon King appear here?!
Countless questions and fears intertwined, making Samael almost choke.
Lilith started walking, unhurriedly approaching him.
She walked up to Samael, looking down at this Rank 7 demon who had been so elegant and composed just moments ago.
“Now,” Lilith’s voice was calm and flat, yet it carried an unquestionable authority, “do you still have anything to say?”
Samael opened his mouth, but no sound came out. Extreme terror and the instinct for survival overwhelmed all reason and dignity in that moment!
No! I can't die!
I still have a mission to complete!
I am a noble! I must seize more power when the First of the Four Calamities returns!
His gaze suddenly darted toward the edge of the plaza, where several civilians were hiding behind a broken wall.
Now!
A flash of madness crossed Samael’s eyes. He suddenly retreated violently, while his right hand clawed at the air in the direction of those civilians!
A powerful suction instantly enveloped the terrified civilians!
Before they could even scream, their bodies shriveled up at a visible rate, and in the blink of an eye, they were absorbed into Samael’s body!
Lilith’s face darkened immediately upon seeing this.
Samael’s sunken chest rapidly swelled back out, his broken bones healed, and his complexion returned to normal.
He looked up at Lilith, the elegance from before completely gone, replaced by a hysterical madness.
“Haha... Hahaha!”
He burst into wild laughter. “I didn't expect it! I never expected it! The exalted Demon King has actually descended to this filthy human world in person! It seems... I, Samael, wasn't prepared enough to give you a sufficient surprise!”
He continued to laugh wildly while slowly backing away, his eyes fixed on Lilith, filled with venomous resentment and the desperation of someone with nothing left to lose.
“But! Demon King!”
He hissed loudly, “Do you think you’ve already won? No! You’re wrong! Lord Orosius’s return is already close at hand! He will surely overthrow your weak and incompetent order! He will lead the demon race to true glory!”
His voice grew louder, as if he were bolting his own courage, or making a final proclamation:
“The nature of the demon race is chaos! It is conquest! It is destruction! And you...! You suppress the nature of the demons, cowering behind the scenes, hiding away and not even daring to show your face! You are not fit to be the Demon King!”
“You are nothing more than a lucky child who stole the Demon King’s power! Lord Orosius is the true future of the demon race! Hahahaha!”
Lilith listened quietly to his roar, her face expressionless.
It wasn't until Samael finished that she slowly spoke.
“You’re right.”
Samael’s laughter stopped.
The next second, Lilith’s figure vanished from where she stood.
Samael’s pupils constricted. He frantically pushed his magic to dodge, but his movements were a step too slow.
A hand had already grabbed his head, slamming it violently into the ground!
Thud!
Samael’s face made intimate contact with the hard ground.
Lilith grabbed Samael by the hair and pulled him up, forcing him to look her in the eye.
Lilith looked at him and said, word by word:
“The demon race is naturally chaotic, cruel, and bloodthirsty.”
She raised her other hand and clenched it into a fist.
“So... I’ve changed my mind.”
“Ending you in a second would be too boring. Next, I’m going to beat you to death, punch by punch.”
