"Magic crystals, please. I have too many magic stones; my storage Wizardry Tool can't hold them all."
"Fine."
With that, the Treant tapped the crystal display a few times, and a blue teleportation array appeared out of thin air on the counter.
A second later, five fist-sized magic crystals appeared.
Ethan swept the magic crystals into his ring and turned to leave.
Exchange them for a meditation method?
Not yet.
Wizard Jade Shadow's Myriad Forest Meditation Method cost a hundred magic crystals even at a ninety percent discount. That meant there was still a gap of fifty magic crystals; he had to hurry and earn more money.
How to earn it?
By slaughtering on the battlefield, of course.
Furthermore, besides the money, there was a massive amount of Life Energy to harvest. How could that not be considered a double win?
I,
Ethan Leo,
win twice.
Ethan walked up to a teleportation array.
The Treant in charge of operating it raised its dark green leaves and glanced at him.
"Destination?"
"The battlefield, the front line."
The Treant's leaves twitched slightly, but it said nothing more.
It simply produced an object resembling an earplug. "Put this in your ear; the command center's orders and missions will be conveyed through this."
Ethan took it and examined it. Indeed, it was a simple Wizardry Tool.
He casually tucked it into his ear.
As soon as the Wizardry Tool touched his ear, it automatically transformed into a black rune and faded into his skin.
Seeing this, the Treant said nothing more, its slender fingers sliding across the crystal display.
The runes at the edge of the teleportation array lit up with an eerie green light.
"Stand firm."
The light suddenly erupted.
The sensation of weightlessness lasted only an instant.
When his feet touched solid ground again, a deafening roar of battle cries surged from all directions like a physical tide.
Ethan steadied himself, his gaze quickly scanning the surroundings.
About ten thousand meters directly ahead was the front line where the two tides collided.
The fighting there was the most brutal. Every second, swathes of lives fell. Pale blue blood and dark red blood mingled, staining the earth a bizarre brownish-green.
Before the fallen corpses could even hit the ground, the lives behind them were already treading over the remains of their companions to fill the gap.
The front line shifted slowly, sometimes pressing dozens of meters toward the Wizard World, sometimes being pushed back just as far. Every shift left behind a thick new layer of corpses.
On both sides of the front line, war machines were frantically unleashing their firepower.
The Amons' catapults continuously hurled emerald energy balls. Every ball that struck the ground exploded into a crater over ten meters wide, sending shattered stones and soil, mixed with severed limbs, splashing in all directions.
The Wizard World's metal catapults hurled dark red incendiary cans. The moment the cans shattered, viscous flames spread like living things, incinerating everything they touched into charred husks.
In the sky, flying contract beasts and Amons flying magical beasts were entangled.
Feathers, scales, and severed limbs fell continuously from the air, crashing into the battlefield below and splashing circles of blood.
A flying magical beast with a wingspan of over fifteen meters had its neck and wings clamped by three mechanical pterosaurs simultaneously. It let out a shrill scream as its massive body tumbled down from hundreds of meters, crashing into the densest area of the Amons. It crushed at least dozens of warriors and over a dozen slaves into meat paste.
Ethan withdrew his gaze.
Time to get to work.
He raised a hand, and emerald light surged over his body.
The plates of the Wood Armor condensed layer by layer, covering his torso, arms, and legs. Immediately after, Wood Shield was activated; a basin-sized curved wooden shield floated outside his left forearm, its surface flowing with fine wooden textures.
With two layers of protection, Ethan exerted force with his legs and charged down from the hill.
His leg muscles erupted with power far beyond that of an ordinary person as he ran. Every step he took left a deep footprint in the soft soil.
His body moved rapidly through the charging slave legions, sometimes darting through gaps between units, sometimes leaping over piles of fallen corpses, and sometimes crouching to avoid stray arrows whistling overhead.
Thirty meters ahead, an Amons warrior was swinging a battle-axe, cleaving a slave and their armor in two.
Before he could even pull the axe from the corpse, a shard of Flying Leaves had already pierced through his left temple and exited through the right.
Pale blue blood sprayed from both wounds simultaneously as the warrior's body collapsed sideways, the battle-axe slipping from his hand.
Ethan didn't stop, raising both hands at the same time.
Dozens of Flying Leaves shot out from his palms, scattering in the air and precisely cutting into every Amons warrior he encountered along the way.
Some Flying Leaves slit throats, some pierced eye sockets, and some slipped into chest cavities through gaps in armor.
On both sides of his path, Amons warriors fell one by one, pale blue blood blooming in flower after flower upon the muddy ground.
Fifty meters ahead, five Amons warriors stood back-to-back in a defensive circle, their spears thrusting out continuously to repel the slaves trying to approach.
Ethan spread the fingers of his right hand, and five Seed Bombs popped out in a fan shape, landing in the center of the defensive circle.
Emerald light exploded simultaneously, and wooden spikes shot out in all directions from the center of the blast.
The five warriors were flipped by the shockwave. Before they even hit the ground, dense wooden spikes had already nailed themselves into their bodies.
Ethan passed through the smoke and dust rising from the explosion. The mud beneath his feet was already soaked with blood, making it slick and greasy.
He didn't look down, his gaze always locked forward.
The front line was still further away; this distance was far from enough.
A four-legged behemoth over five meters tall at the shoulder charged out from the right front.
The beast was covered in rock-like scales, its amber eyes the size of washbasins, and its gaping maw filled with dark green fangs.
It stomped the ground with its four feet, charging straight at Ethan, every step making the ground tremble.
Ethan raised his right hand, and a giant log twenty centimeters in diameter erupted from the ground, thrusting upward at a forty-five-degree angle and striking the beast right in the chest and abdomen.
The stake pierced through the scales, entered the chest cavity, and emerged from the spine.
The beast's charge was stopped dead. Its massive body hung on the stake, its limbs still flailing wildly in the air.
Ethan ran beneath the beast without a moment's pause.
Amons warriors along the way fell continuously under his Flying Leaves and wooden spikes. Occasionally, a magical beast would charge at him, only to be impaled by a single strike of Giant Wood Spike.
Life Energy continuously ticked upward on his panel, the numbers climbing steadily.
Finally, he reached the front line.
This was the most brutal center of the entire battlefield.
Every moment, hundreds of lives fell within Ethan's line of sight.
Amons warriors and slave legions were locked in a chaotic melee, indistinguishable from one another.
Longblades clashed with battle-axes, teeth and nails tore at flesh, and meat and bone shattered.
A slave's right arm was severed at the shoulder; he picked up his fallen blade with his left hand and continued to charge forward.
An Amons warrior was tackled by three mechanical hounds; he smashed with his fists, kicked with his knees, and headbutted until his throat was torn open by a mechanical hound, only then ceasing his struggle.
Ethan stood in the very center of this meat grinder and raised both hands.
Emerald light surged from his palms.
Countless Flying Leaves shot out simultaneously, pouring in all directions like an emerald rainstorm.
Every leaf precisely found an Amons warrior, slitting throats, piercing eye sockets, or severing arteries.
With Ethan as the center, every Amons warrior within a thirty-meter radius sprayed blood at the same moment. Pale blue blood erupted from dozens, even hundreds of wounds simultaneously.
Corpses fell in swathes, crashing into the mud and splashing bloody slush.
His hands rose and fell continuously. His left hand shot out Flying Leaves to cut down charging warriors, while his right hand summoned giant wood to impale lunging magical beasts.
Vines spread beneath his feet, tightening around and strangling the wounded who were still struggling.
Nearly thirty Green Vine Guards erupted from the ground, dispersing around Ethan. Their vine-woven arms flailed, whipping and tearing apart any enemies that dared to approach.
