Chapter 261 · Volume 1

A Special Card

Wanyue shook her head frantically, her tears and mucus mixing with the blood smeared across her face.
"I really know I was wrong! I apologize! I'll go to the regional channel to clarify right now! Please, I beg you, let me go!"
Cheng Shuili stared at her for a few seconds and suddenly laughed.
"Alright then." She retracted her gun in a leisurely manner. "I'll give you a chance."
Cheng Shuili's smile suddenly turned gentle. She even reached out to straighten Wanyue's messy collar, her voice soft enough to be hair-raising:
"Apologize publicly on the regional channel right now. Admit that you deliberately exposed Wanyi's privacy and incited others to use duel cards."
Wanyue nodded frantically, and Cheng Shuili continued, "Remember, you must use voice chat. I want to hear your tearful confession; after all, your acting was quite good when you were begging for mercy earlier."
Su Rui loosened her grip at the perfect moment, and the two of them watched as Wanyue opened the regional channel.
Wanyue trembling pressed the voice button, and her tearful, sobbing apology rang out across the regional channel: "I am Wanyue! I deliberately exposed Wanyi's food truck identity and incited everyone to use duel cards to cause her trouble! I was wrong! I really—"
Cheng Shuili suddenly cut off the recording and let out a dissatisfied "tsk." "Not sincere enough." She pulled out her dagger and slammed it into the floorboards, the blade grazing Wanyue's fingers. "Want to try again?"
"Yes, yes, yes!" Wanyue broke down and re-recorded it. This time, she practically knocked her forehead against the screen, her desperate, shrill confession laced with genuine terror.
Cheng Shuili clicked send with satisfaction. The onlookers on the regional channel, sensing the drama, flocked in.
"What's going on? What's going on?!"
"Where is my assistant! Give me one minute! I need to know what happened to this woman!"
"Wasn't she being pretty tough just a moment ago? We were all standing on the moral high ground judging her, and she was still thick-skinned and stubborn, so why is she apologizing all of a sudden?"
"What the hell happened?!!! This is so strange, it's making me feel like a kitten is scratching at my heart!"
Cheng Shuili was satisfied, the corners of her mouth curling up slightly. Just as she was about to contact Wanyi, she received a message from her.
【Wanyi】: The highway just merged, sigh... I took a bullet to the arm. It shouldn't be fatal, but I definitely won't be able to cook for a while.
What??
What!!
Cheng Shuili paused, her gaze toward Wanyue turning into palpable killing intent. She desperately wanted to go to Qi Wanyi's side to take a look, but how to handle this person depended on what Qi Wanyi thought.
Cheng Shuili took a photo and sent it to Qi Wanyi. The other party was quite urgent; the moment she saw the photo, the call came through.
Cheng Shuili smiled at the anxious Wanyue and raised her hand to press accept.
"Boss! Don't kill her!"
Qi Wanyi's voice came through the system panel, clearly reaching everyone's ears.
Su Rui couldn't help but pick at her ear, clearly suspecting she had misheard.
Cheng Shuili also felt she had misheard, but she had patience and intended to hear Qi Wanyi's reasoning.
Wanyue, however, acted as if she had been granted a death-defying pardon. Her limp body suddenly sprang up, her blood-stained face twisted into a look of ecstasy, and a raspy laugh squeezed out of her throat:
"Did you hear that! She said not to kill me! This is a grudge between us! She doesn't even want to kill me, so what right do you have to lay a hand on me?!"
Wanyue straightened her body, trying hard to turn and look at Cheng Shuili's panel, seemingly wanting to say something directly to Qi Wanyi.
But unfortunately, Su Rui had a short temper.
With one kick, she pinned Wanyue back down to the floor. Cheng Shuili looked at her in surprise, just as she happened to meet Su Rui's gaze.
Su Rui said indignantly, "Why can't we kill her?"
Cheng Shuili silently looked at the panel showing the active call.
Qi Wanyi was biting on a bandage, carefully wrapping it around her arm. She had just let out a sigh of relief, and her tinnitus had faded just enough to hear Su Rui's words.
She slowly caught her breath and explained, "She has a special card on her. It should be a card related to vehicles; its function is likely to swap vehicles with a selected player, and she chose me. Boss... get that into your hands, then kill her."
So that was it.
So she had a special card on her?
Cheng Shuili understood. These special cards all had conditions for use, just like the special dungeon opening card in the hands of Ge Wudi, and these conditions were not easily met.
Wanyue had gone to such lengths just to swap vehicles with Qi Wanyi.
If Cheng Shuili's focus was on the first part of Qi Wanyi's words, Su Rui only heard the two words "then kill."
Oh, so she was still going to be killed?
She revealed a smile, her eyes filled with the relief of finally letting off some steam as she looked at Wanyue.
As for Wanyue, her pupils contracted sharply, and the ecstasy on her face froze.
Like Egg Boss when it was being throttled, she squeezed a "cluck" sound from her throat, her blood-stained nails scratching several marks into the floor.
"No... that's not it!"
She suddenly struggled violently, her back, which was being stepped on, emitting an unbearable cracking sound.
"I tore that card up a long time ago! Qi Wanyi, what are you spouting nonsense for?! No... I don't even have a card like that! You're lying! You're framing me!"
Cheng Shuili squatted down and looked into Wanyue's eyes. Before she even spoke, she laughed a little.
This person was truly stupid to a certain degree. If she was going to refute, she should have just stuck to one story; who could argue with that? But Wanyue, on the other hand, was contradicting herself right in front of Cheng Shuili and Su Rui.
Cheng Shuili shook her head. "What a pity, your lies aren't very good either."
Wanyue was about to continue arguing, but Su Rui, standing to the side, took heavy action.
Following her move, Wanyue let out a scream.
Su Rui waited patiently for her scream to end before threatening her with an expressionless face: "Don't think about how since you're going to die anyway, it would be worth it to disgust us before you go."
She took out her dagger and gestured with the blade across Wanyue's thigh. "There are too many ways to die in this world. All you can choose now is whether to die quickly or to die after suffering through torture."
Wanyue's face turned pale, but she was vicious to the bone. She didn't want to choose, nor did she want to accept reality just like that.
Sweat beads the size of beans hung on her face. She looked absolutely terrified, yet she ignored Su Rui's words entirely, twisting her head to look at the panel in front of Cheng Shuili: "Qi Wanyi! Do you hear that! We were master and apprentice after all, are you just going to watch them torture me like this?"
Cheng Shuili gave a light "tsk," her voice cool. "Did you hear that, Wanyi? You are truly too good a person. Even the one who betrayed you thinks you'll still forgive her."
Qi Wanyi was still angry, but hearing Cheng Shuili's slightly mocking words, she couldn't help but shake her head and say shamelessly, "I'll take that as a compliment. Su Rui is with you, right? Su Rui, don't let her go."
