Chapter 260 · Volume 1

Qi Wanyi Did Not Reply

Egg Boss was still somewhat dissatisfied, flapping its wings and squawking in protest, only to be shrunk into a ball of fluff by a single glare from Cheng Shuili.
Cheng Shuili dangled the knot and shook it, stating bluntly, "If you squawk again, I'll cut you down to three eggs a day."
The chick instantly wilted, its black-bean eyes filled with the indignation of being exploited by capitalism.
The entire territory echoed with Egg Boss's miserable squawking, followed by the relieved laughter of the crowd.
Cheng Shuili sighed in relief, instructed a few people to build a coop for Egg Boss, and after grabbing it by the scruff of its neck and issuing a few more threats to ensure the little guy was truly behaved, she left with the egg, feeling satisfied.
She tapped open Wanyi's private chat window, sent her the glowing egg, and placed her order: "Add an egg to my meal tonight!"
Strangely, Qi Wanyi did not reply.
It was nearly dinnertime, so Cheng Shuili assumed she was cooking and hadn't seen the message, so she didn't think much of it.
Cheng Shuili relaxed and opened the regional channel to see if there was any news.
But she had only read one message when her brow furrowed.
【Wanyue】: @Wanyi, what are you pretending for? Wasn't it you who was anonymously taking processing orders on the trading channel before? I'm helping you if you want to earn game coins. So what if I said you were a food truck? Your business must be doing great! You should be secretly happy about it! I haven't even asked you to be grateful to me yet, and you're blaming me?? Everyone, judge for yourselves!
"Oh my, why are you two arguing again this late in the evening? @Wanyue, your tone is sharp enough to plow three acres of land. She must have had a reason for taking orders anonymously. You're exposing her and still acting righteous?"
"I'll say something fair here. The anonymous function is meant to be used. How is this any different from doxxing someone? @Wanyi's craft is truly good, and the things she processes are delicious."
"Oh~ someone is playing dead after being called out, huh? @Wanyi, you wouldn't be secretly counting your money, would you?"
"If you ask me, Wanyue is truly being kind. You don't need to blame her, right? Your business must be doing really well, right? I didn't even know you were a food truck before, but now I do."
"This game is so unfair. Why are some people born as food trucks when they enter the game? Being able to cook naturally? That's too much! @Wanyi, come out and apologize!"
Cheng Shuili stared at the rapidly scrolling messages on the regional channel, her knuckles turning white.
The cold light from the screen shone on her suddenly darkened face, making her look quite terrifying.
"Very well," she sneered, her fingertip opening her private chat list.
Qi Wanyi still hadn't replied. This wasn't just being busy; she had been targeted and didn't have time to reply to her boss.
A message suddenly popped up in the small group; Xinxue had tagged Qi Wanyi to ask who this Wanyue was.
Why should Cheng Shuili care who she was? Throughout the morning, Qi Wanyi had been targeted by wave after wave of people using duel cards. If it weren't for Qi Wanyi's strength, she would have been dead by now!
Cheng Shuili had been wondering who the culprit was, and now that she knew, she wouldn't let it slide.
Wanyue had better be prepared for the consequences of messing with her people.
There was a flash in front of Su Rui. She frowned, folded her arms, and leaned back against her seat out of habit. She was no longer as panicked as the first time, nor as speechless as the second.
She even had the leisure to turn her head and watch what Cheng Shuili was doing this time.
She saw her boss striding across the carriage, her black hair tracing a sharp arc in the twilight, clutching that rifle in her hand—clearly, she was going to kill someone!
Su Rui instantly perked up. She jogged a few steps to catch up with Cheng Shuili and asked, "Who are we killing this time?"
Cheng Shuili sneered in response, "Not killing yet. We're going to pin them down and beat them up first."
Su Rui was instantly excited!
"Okay!"
The two got off the vehicle and stood before Wanyue's vehicle. It looked somewhat dilapidated. Through a window with a broken pane, they could see a figure sitting with their back to them.
Cheng Shuili and Su Rui exchanged a look and silently stepped up onto the stairs of Wanyue's rickety vehicle, one after the other. The tin floor creaked faintly, but the person inside remained oblivious.
Wanyue was facing away from the door, typing furiously on a virtual screen, cursing under her breath: "If you won't give it to me, then no one gets anything! Go to hell! Die!"
Su Rui lunged forward, locking her throat with her right hand and pinning her wrist with her left, driving her knee hard into the other's waist. With a muffled "thud," Wanyue's face slammed into the floor, her nosebleed instantly staining the clean floorboards red.
Cheng Shuili calmly pulled over a decorative rope from the side and tied Wanyue's wrists to the steering wheel in a few quick motions.
"What are you doing?!" Wanyue struggled to turn her head, suddenly widening her eyes, "Who are you?? Don't... don't kill me! You can have all my stuff! Just don't kill me! I beg you, I beg you..."
Cheng Shuili crouched halfway down, using the barrel of her gun to gently lift Wanyue's chin, forcing her to raise her blood-stained face.
"Begging for mercy pretty quickly, aren't you?" Cheng Shuili's voice carried a cold mockery. "Unfortunately, we aren't here to rob you."
Wanyue's pupils contracted. She finally seemed to realize something. Her lips trembled as she stuttered, "You... are you here to stand up for Qi Wanyi?"
Cheng Shuili's gaze darkened further. This person even knew Qi Wanyi's real name; their relationship was definitely not simple.
Now it seemed like a classic case of betrayal.
"Smart."
Cheng Shuili sneered. The barrel of the gun slowly moved down to press against Wanyue's collarbone as she continued calmly, "Unfortunately, you used your intelligence in the wrong place."
Wanyue was shaking all over, her voice almost sobbing, yet she still tried to argue: "I-I just told the truth! She is a food truck, why should she take orders anonymously? I didn't hurt her!"
Cheng Shuili's gaze sharpened, her finger rubbing against the trigger. "Didn't hurt her? Then who was inciting others to use duel cards to harass her all day today? And who was stirring up trouble on the regional channel to force her to apologize?"
Wanyue's face turned pale instantly. "I... I don't know what you're talking about!"
Cheng Shuili scoffed and turned to look at Su Rui. "She seems to have a poor memory."
Su Rui grinned, pulled a dagger from her waist, and waved it slowly in front of Wanyue's eyes. "Boss, should I help her refresh her memory?"
The cold light of the blade reflected on Wanyue's face. She finally broke down and shouted, "I was wrong! I was wrong! I said it! But I really didn't mean to kill her! I just... I was just jealous that she could make money by cooking, I just... I just wanted her to suffer a little..."
Cheng Shuili's gaze turned icy.
"Jealousy?"
She stood up slowly, looking down at Wanyue from above, her voice dangerously soft, "Just because of your despicable thoughts, you almost got my person killed?"
