Chapter 94 · Volume 1

The Advantage is Mine

After she finished writing, Kaila solemnly tucked the notebook back inside her nun’s habit.
Sophie: “...”
“Miss Hero is really good at ruining the mood,” Sophie grumbled. “The content in the parentheses is totally unnecessary; you're losing favorability points!”
“That is a lie; you are not unhappy,” Kaila corrected seriously. “And what I wrote is the truth.”
“The truth doesn't matter; the vibe does.”
“The truth is more important. A Hero cannot lie.”
“See, you're always like this.” Sophie sighed helplessly, then puffed out her chest. “That's why you need a Galgame master like me to teach you what a classic date scene looks like. That livelihood inspection plan of yours is just plain tacky.”
“Has Sophie been on a date?” Kaila tilted her head. “Don't you... have no lover, only friends?”
Sophie, who was just about to show off her Galgame repertoire, choked on her words.
“It's the same thing,” Sophie coughed twice. “Friends can go on dates too, you know.”
“First of all, a date must involve holding hands!” Without dwelling on the topic of friends, Sophie began counting on her fingers. “You have to feed each other delicious food! There have to be harmless misunderstandings triggered by trivial little things! And then, there must be unwavering protectiveness when danger strikes! You have to look at the scenery from somewhere high up together! And finally, the most essential part...”
Sophie held up her index finger.
“Some clichéd scenes might even need an uninvited third party to watch the drama from the sidelines, just to highlight the incomparable pink bubbles between the two protagonists. But I'm not at all...”
“Exactly, exactly. Dates are the best.”
A voice came abruptly from the shadows nearby, accompanied by the sound of muffled chewing.
Sophie’s body instantly stiffened.
She turned her head mechanically, looking toward a sunshade shop beside the main road.
A girl with black hair and purple eyes was sitting casually on a low stool.
In her arms, she held a kraft paper bag two sizes larger than her own face. The bag was stuffed full of golden-brown honey almond cookies, crispy crescent pastries, berries dusted with powdered sugar, and freshly baked cream buns wafting a rich, milky aroma.
Miaoyue’s normally thin cheeks were currently bulging slightly, with a bit of white powdered sugar stuck to the corner of her mouth.
She struggled to swallow the pastry in her mouth while watching the two of them with great interest.
Sophie was shocked.
“Wait! I already took you around for a round, fed you full, and settled you at the Ch—base! How did you get out again?!”
How many hours had it even been?
That was enough dessert to stuff three grown men.
She had fed her a lethal dose and brought Little Yue back to the church.
How did she just flash-teleport here?
“What's the fun in staying at the base?”
Miaoyue swallowed the almond cookie with effort, casually wiped the powdered sugar from her mouth with the back of her hand, and then waved dismissively.
“It's fine, it's fine. I eat very fast. Besides, I totally ship you two. Seeing my Saintess being so sweet made me hungry again.”
She pulled another small bun from the paper bag, stuffed it into her mouth, and added indistinctly:
“You guys just do your thing. Don't mind me; I'm just here to eat.”
Sophie: “...”
As a master of time management, Sophie had always kept her schedule very clear.
But right now, this wasn't on her itinerary.
It was fine.
Not a big deal.
She, Sophie, a battle-hardened Galgame master, had seen it all.
A mere trio.
The advantage is mine.
