Chapter 70 · Volume 1

Drawing Skills

Fine, whatever. Do what you want. My Blood Claw trait has been constantly reducing my unarmed damage. I finally managed to get my Strength over 10 points and deal some actual damage with my bare hands.
Now it's all been stripped away again.
A punch to someone else would only end up healing them.
How was she supposed to deal damage to herself with her bare hands during a battle now?
And then there was the thing about her skin becoming softer and smoother. When was the system going to show her some Gum-Gum Fruit powers?
Plus, designating a Blood Master and all that... her life was just too easy.
Sophie couldn't understand it.
Then there were some achievement notifications she had missed earlier.
The achievement 【Insubordination】 was gained when resisting Elizabeth’s control.
The achievement 【The Impossible Object】 was gained when manifesting the “Chinese Football World Cup Trophy” during the second phase of the Moon Rite.
The achievement 【Majestic Summons】 was gained when using the Dilapidated Dark Gold Greave Fragment to summon the historical projection of Hiso.
The achievement 【Saintess Inauguration】 was gained when she admitted to being the Saintess in front of Miaoyue.
The achievement 【Planting Evidence】 was gained when she stuffed the Dilapidated Dark Gold Greave Fragment onto the Count, leading to Chengzhong Dino’s interrogation.
The achievement 【Minor Shura Field】 was gained when she successfully made the New Moon Witch and the Puppet Witch fight each other.
The achievement 【Bloodline Ascension】 was gained when she promoted her template to the Twelfth Generation Vampire.
And... the 【Perfect Mount】 achievement was gained when she entered Mount Mode.
The achievement 【Reunion】 was gained when she revealed her identity to Chengzhong Dino.
Counting these achievements she hadn't noticed at the time, along with the 13 Free Attribute Points she had saved before.
Her Free Attribute Points had reached the grand milestone of 31 points.
After hesitating briefly between upgrading her existing skills or drawing new ones.
Sophie directly splurged 30 skill points.
Time to draw.
A single rare skill like Seeking Defeat had made her a fifty-fifty match against the Red Moon. Her best strategy now was undoubtedly to stack more rare skills on herself.
In the previous battle, if not for—
【Drawing in progress...】
【You have drawn the rare skill [Shadowstep] Comprehension Voucher. Use it on yourself or an NPC?】
【You have drawn the rare skill [Forced Disarm] Comprehension Voucher. Use it on yourself or an NPC?】
【Congratulations!! You have drawn a special item: Skill Steal Voucher (1 use). Use it on yourself or an NPC?】
Wow, an SSR.
As she continued drawing, a sudden light flashed from the system panel in front of her.
Sophie’s eyes lit up.
A special Skill Steal Voucher was a good thing. This item could directly steal a random skill from an NPC.
It could grab anything from common citizen skills like [Brewing], [Sewing], or [Slaughtering], to vampire template skills like [Blood Suck] or [Inhuman Physique].
If she had a skill that increased Luck, the results would be even better.
Although her attributes were closer to a normal person's now, she was still quite a distance away from being able to engage in normal combat. She needed to carefully consider who to steal a skill from.
The witches had to be excluded.
If she stole from a witch, there was a high probability she would get one of the survival traits she had farmed out. There were too many of those traits, and they were basically useless unless she gathered a full set.
Maybe she could see if she could steal from the Hero or find a class-holder with a shallower skill pool.
As Sophie thought about it, she shifted her gaze to the remaining two rare skills she had drawn.
A maiden's prayer in progress...
【Shadowstep lv.Max: You can instantly move to any area with a shadow within your field of vision. This skill has no fixed cooldown. Each consecutive use increases the Mana cost of the next Shadowstep. The cost gradually resets after leaving the consecutive casting state.】
《“Shadows are not the remnants of darkness, but doors the world has reserved for assassins.”》
【Forced Disarm lv.Max: If your next attack hits a target holding a weapon, it will ignore the target’s [Grip], [Resistance], [Weapon Binding], and [Storage Protection], forcing their current weapon out of their hands and putting them into a disarmed state. Cooldown: 1 day.】
《“A weapon is an extension of a warrior's will, but a true winner lets the will leave the hand first.”》
【Heart of Yin is active...】
【Shadowstep (Reversed) lv.Max: You can instantly move any shadow within your field of vision to beneath your own feet. This skill has no fixed cooldown. Each consecutive use decreases the Mana cost of the next Shadowstep. The cost gradually resets after leaving the consecutive casting state.】
《“Since I cannot go into the shadows, the shadows had better come to me.”》
【Forced Disarm (Reversed) lv.Max: If your next attack hits a target holding a weapon, it will ignore the target’s [Grip], [Resistance], [Weapon Binding], and [Storage Protection], forcing their current weapon to swap with another weapon within their accessible range. If the target has no swappable weapon, it will force their current weapon to switch to a nearby object judged as a “weapon” by the system. Cooldown: 1 day.】
《“Taking away a weapon is merely amateur. True art is making a swordsman continue the duel while holding a soup spoon.”》
Sophie: ?
She looked at a nearby tree.
Even though it was a cloudy day, there was still a faint shadow beneath the tree.
【Log: You have activated [Shadowstep]】
Sophie stared at the extra tree shadow beneath her feet and fell into deep thought.
What... was the point of this?
She would like to ask.
