One dazzling stream of light after another flashed across the panel.
With every flash, Leon’s mood brightened.
“Baron Sori is truly a saint, providing me with such ample 'audience feedback'...”
Leon was thoroughly satisfied.
This exchange with Baron Sori had netted him nearly fifty experience points, significantly boosting the divine spell experience on his panel.
Although Light Prayer and the Hammer of Holy Light had reached Lv2, increasing the required experience from 100 to 300, every little bit counted toward the total.
As for his other two divine spells, the Hand of Divine Spells had already surpassed 50 experience points, and Healing had reached 73.
He only needed to find Alicia for a few more sparring sessions to quickly push Healing to Lv2.
...
The Gray Mist Blood had already come into contact with the gray mist. With every passing moment of delay, the gray mist monsters born from it would grow stronger.
Leon took a brief moment to rest and recover his state before quickly setting off again.
Along the way, he didn't expend any mental energy to fight. Instead, he let the Falcon warriors clear the gray mist monsters swarming toward them.
With the small Gray Mist Barrier weakening the monsters, their path was unobstructed. After clearing the last monster blocking their way, Leon and his group finally arrived at the Gray Mist Barrier device.
The device resembled a twenty-meter-tall watchtower, with a massive, glass-like gemstone apparatus at its peak.
The outer vitrified protective layer of the apparatus was broken, exposing a certain gray liquid within that seemed to possess biological activity.
Beneath the shattered protective layer, several stiff figures stood. Their expressions were frozen in shock and extreme terror.
Their eyes were wide open, yet all light had vanished from them, leaving them as dull as puppets under someone's control.
Based on the black robes they wore and the eerie patterns etched onto their faces, Leon recognized their identities.
“The Black and White Hand...”
“These people from the Black and White Hand really are lunatics!” one Falcon warrior cursed as he looked at the lifeless members. “To think they dared to break the Gray Mist Barrier and come into close contact with Gray Mist Blood without any protection!”
Even from twenty meters away, Leon could feel the eerie vibrations radiating from the Gray Mist Blood.
Influenced by these vibrations, the whispers and roars coming from the surrounding gray mist seemed to ring right in his ears. They carried a spine-chilling darkness that made even Leon, shielded by the small Gray Mist Barrier, feel momentarily dazed and unable to concentrate.
As for the members of the Black and White Hand who had broken the protective layer and come into direct contact with the Gray Mist Blood, they had been severely eroded by its eerie vibrations, trapped in an endless cycle of nightmares.
The so-called Gray Mist Blood referred to a substance obtained by powerful transcendents who ventured deep into the gray mist to find a type of gray mist monster known as a Gray Mist Cinder.
By using special and sophisticated methods, they would extract, purify, and concentrate the gray mist generated within the monster's body to obtain the pure essence of the gray mist.
For gray mist monsters, this essence was a vital substance for increasing their strength and held an intense attraction for them.
However, for any other living being, it was no different from the most lethal poison in the world.
One did not even need to touch it; simply being near it would result in one's mind being devoured, turning them into a “Soulless” just like these members of the Black and White Hand.
Leon stared at the tragic state of these people who had lost their souls and took a deep breath. He reached into his robes and pulled out the item Bishop Miles had entrusted to him.
It was a miniature skull, no larger than a palm.
It was translucent throughout. Even though the surrounding gray mist was thick enough to blot out the sun, a dazzling radiance still flowed across the skull's surface, faintly emitting a holy and solemn aura.
This was a powerful relic kept in the relic chamber of the Holy Light Cathedral. Crafted from the skull of a deceased Epic rank priest, it possessed immense power.
Leon gazed at the Gray Mist Blood that continuously seeped eerie vibrations and solemnly raised the translucent miniature skull in his hand.
“May the glory of St. Elias protect us as we move forward.”
As he spoke, holy flames ignited deep within the skull.
A holy radiance, as thick as fat and flowing like milk, poured out from the bone, tenderly yet firmly enveloping Leon and his group.
The nearly liquefied glow acted like a divine rampart, sealing out all the ominous rhythms emitted by the Gray Mist Blood.
The chaotic whispers and sinister roars haunting his ears ceased abruptly, replaced by a solemn hymn of prayer that pierced through the mist.
“Wait for me here,” Leon said.
The small Gray Mist Barrier device was enough to cover the entire tower, so there was no need for them to follow him up.
Holding the skull of Priest Elias, he slowly walked into the tower housing the Gray Mist Barrier and stepped onto the stairs leading to the top.
Clack, clack, clack.
The sound of his tiger-hide noble boots hitting the steps echoed inside the tower. With every step upward, the holy flames burning within the translucent skull grew more vigorous, and its protective power became even stronger.
When Leon stepped onto the top of the tower and stood face-to-face with the roiling mass of Gray Mist Blood, the liquid suddenly became active. Its surface rippled, emitting even more powerful and eerie vibrations.
The translucent skull in Leon’s palm also changed. The holy flames within it reached their peak, bursting forth with a blindingly brilliant light.
The thick, holy radiance surged out like a flowing divine wall, completely isolating the sinister vibrations of the Gray Mist Blood.
Leon calmed his entire mind, blocking out the interference of the Gray Mist Blood. With a solemn and focused expression, he began to chant with ultimate devotion to the supreme God of Sacred Light:
“God of Sacred Light above, Your most humble servant calls to You from the depths of this darkness.”
“May Your radiance pierce through the shroud of the abyss;”
“May Your will descend upon this defiled land;”
“May Your grace shine upon wandering souls like the morning star;”
“I offer this devout prayer, seeking Your divine gaze and mercy...”
As he chanted, the skull of St. Elias in his hand resonated, shooting out brilliant, golden holy light as if the soul of that Epic rank priest were still burning within.
A pure and magnificent power emerged from deep within the skull, intertwining and resonating with Leon’s prayer like a rising tide. It helped him channel a divine spell that was technically Gold rank, yet could only be cast by a few favored individuals.
【Prayer for the God of Sacred Light's Blessing】
This divine spell had a more common and simple name:
【Wish】.
As the solemn prayer echoed more completely throughout the tower, the entire structure suddenly jolted. The gray mist, condensed as if physical, was instantly pushed outward as if struck by a massive force.
After a long night, the morning sun, which had been obscured, once again spilled its scorching light onto the top of the tower.
The previously raging Gray Mist Blood stopped abruptly as if it had met its natural enemy, its eerie vibrations falling completely silent.
Leon’s entire body trembled. He felt a vast and boundless will, like a galaxy falling from the sky, suddenly descend upon this world—
It was the gaze of the God of Sacred Light!
