In the center of the field, the warriors of the Falcon Warband watched Leon’s back as he stood there, appearing as though everything were under his control. Their gazes were filled with admiration and shock at his performance—a Bronze rank priest defeating a Silver rank bloodline warrior.
Standing to the side, Alicia’s emerald eyes shimmered with a strange light.
“So powerful...” she thought.
This Baron Sori was a Silver rank bloodline warrior. Even for Alicia herself, it would be difficult to wound him without resorting to a sneak attack, let alone facing him head-on and beating him until he coughed up blood.
“But that old grandpa didn't seem like he was lying to me...”
Alicia remembered the kind, white-haired old man in her dreams telling her that once she mastered the techniques he taught her, she would be able to walk tall even at the Bronze rank.
As long as she gave her all, no one would be able to defeat her.
During her previous sparring sessions with Priest Leon, Alicia hadn't used her full strength because her techniques were too lethal. Thus, she had always believed the old man's words.
But now, seeing Priest Leon defeat the Silver rank Baron Sori, Alicia suddenly began to doubt the old man.
If she gave her all... could she really defeat Priest Leon?
“Damn it!”
As the one actually fighting, Baron Sori didn't have such complex thoughts; he was simply in a state of disbelief.
Why? Why would he, a Silver rank bloodline warrior, lose to a mere Bronze rank priest?
With intense resentment and malice in his eyes, he struggled to crawl up from the ground. Wiping the blood from his mouth, he glared at Leon.
“Potions! It’s all because of those potions!”
“Damn those potions! Damn the Douglas family! If it weren't for that potion, you never could have beaten me!”
“Tsk.” Leon shook his head again, letting out a soft click of his tongue. “You learn fast, but your attempt to buy time is far too obvious.”
As he spoke, the massive Hand of Divine Spells gripped the brilliant golden Hammer of Holy Light. The hammer head swung in a wide arc, fast as a bolt of lightning, and crashed down with a roar.
“Damn it!”
The malice and ferocity on Baron Sori’s face vanished instantly, his eyes becoming bloodshot. How did this damn Leon know everything?
He had just used the act of wiping blood to swallow a life-saving pill, which still needed time to be digested so its pure medicinal power could stabilize his internal tremors.
Yet, the moment the life-saving pill entered his mouth, Leon had seen right through him!
Why?
Wasn't he a noble scion who had been pampered and raised in luxury since childhood?
How could his combat observation be so sharp?!
Baron Sori had no other choice. He gripped his rapier with his uninjured left arm and erupted with battle qi once more to meet the still-active Hand of Divine Spells and its Hammer of Holy Light.
“Clang!”
The violent battle qi collided head-on with the majestic Hammer of Holy Light, resulting in a massive boom and a shower of sparks!
However, Baron Sori was not using his dominant hand. His power and battle qi control were nowhere near as proficient as they were with his right.
Every time he clashed with the Hammer of Holy Light, his arm would go numb from the terrifying force. Even his injured internal organs suffered further tremors from the recoil, causing blood to seep uncontrollably from the corners of his mouth.
And that wasn't even the most lethal part.
The most lethal thing was that seemingly unremarkable small orb of light. The radiance it emitted felt like a stinging burn upon Baron Sori’s skin.
After only half a minute of exposure, Baron Sori felt as if his entire body were submerged in a sea of fire, wracked with searing pain.
This pain gnawed at his nerves like a terminal disease, making his movements sluggish. His left arm felt as heavy as if it were being filled with molten lead.
“Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!”
Sensing his predicament, Baron Sori’s hatred for Leon gradually turned into terror.
If this continued, he would die!
He would definitely die!
Escape, he had to escape!
However, facing the Hand of Divine Spells that could fly through the air and the Hammer of Holy Light it wielded, Baron Sori could find no path of retreat!
“Boom!”
In another collision between the rapier and the light hammer, Baron Sori’s remaining arm was jolted completely numb by the immense force, and he could no longer hold onto the crystal iron rapier.
The rapier was sent flying by the fierce wind carried by the hammer, shooting backward like an arrow from a bow and disappearing into the oppressive gray mist.
With his last reliance stripped away, the fear in Baron Sori’s heart could no longer be suppressed. He knelt on the ground and shouted repeatedly, “I surrender! I surrender!”
Yet, the only response to his words was the Hand of Divine Spells swinging the light hammer once more.
Seeing a man who wouldn't give him even the slightest chance to survive, Baron Sori gnashed his teeth.
“If you kill me and ruin the operation of that Vampire Grand Duke from the Nightmare Empire, he will never let you—”
“Crack!”
The Hammer of Holy Light did not pause for a second. It slammed down onto Baron Sori’s head, shattering his skull in an instant and crushing his body against the rocky ground.
Leon looked at Baron Sori’s pulverized remains before finally speaking. “Oh? And then?”
Baron Sori did not answer him.
Thus, Leon sent the warriors of the Falcon Warband to inspect Baron Sori’s bone fragments and flesh.
After nearly meeting his end due to Baron Ronan’s sneak attack earlier, Leon had become much more cautious.
Besides, in a world with transcendent powers, how could there not be abilities to feign death?
Although Baron Sori had been reduced to a pile of meat, Leon felt that since he was already here, taking a few steps to be safe wasn't much trouble.
Only after confirming that Baron Sori was truly dead did Leon exhale and dismiss the Hammer of Holy Light that had been steadily draining his mental energy.
“Leon... Priest... are you... alright?”
Alicia hurried forward. Seeing the fatigue on his face from the continuous mental energy consumption, she placed her two slender index fingers gently against his temples and began to slowly massage them.
Because she was quite petite, her earnest and slightly clumsy posture as she stood with Leon made her look like a little girl standing on her tiptoes to take care of her older brother.
It looked a bit out of place.
Leon felt the fingers on his temples and was momentarily stunned. He looked at Alicia. “When did you learn how to do this?”
Alicia was also stunned. She searched her memory for a long time before finally uttering a few words: “I... can't... remember.”
Leon could only guess that this was something from Alicia’s childhood.
Ever since Thomas mentioned that Alicia's emerald pupils might be a symbol of a wood elf, Leon had been curious about it.
However, aside from those emerald eyes, Alicia had shown no other wood elf characteristics. Furthermore, when Leon asked about her childhood memories, she claimed to know nothing.
She only remembered being in a small town when her memories began at age six, after which she was discovered and sent to an orphanage...
“If you can't remember, then don't force it.”
Seeing the distress on Alicia’s face, Leon comforted her.
Then, Leon turned and ordered the Falcon warriors to check the bodies of the other traitorous nobles and deliver finishing blows.
Aside from Baron Sori, the other nobles had all been trapped in the cage formed by Shadow Boiling and strangled to death by shadow tentacles.
The Falcon warriors stabbed each corpse twice. After confirming no one was faking death, they nodded toward Leon.
Leon finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He looked at his divine spell panel—
