At nine o'clock in the evening, inside the fallout shelter.
“Professor Lin’s villa caught fire. After the firefighters extinguished the flames, they couldn’t find his body. The agents protecting him were all sliced in half. Based on the clean cuts, it would be difficult for an ordinary person to have caused them. It’s suspected that a supernatural being was involved,” a young man reported with a solemn expression in the meeting room.
Lu Senyu listened to the intelligence and rubbed his temples. “Have Team Two take over the pursuit. Professor Lin knows many of our secrets; he cannot fall into the hands of any other faction!”
“Understood!” Song Lianhu replied.
Lu Senyu looked at Wang Hai. “Once Bai Yuwen finishes absorbing the shadows, urge him to get to work immediately. I have a growing feeling that things in Yangcheng are becoming increasingly strange.”
The authorities were still investigating the Lord of Evil matter, but they hadn’t found a single lead yet.
If the officials couldn’t secure most of the items, he would have to flee. After all, if Yangcheng ended up like Ningcheng, staying behind would be nothing more than waiting for death.
Hearing Lu Senyu’s words, Wang Hai quickly replied, “Understood. I’ll go pressure him right away.”
...
Meanwhile, at Yangcheng Prison in the suburbs, truck after truck transported criminals from various locations.
At the exit on the other side, similar trucks were being loaded with the corpses of criminals.
In a room fifty meters long and wide at the center of the prison, Bai Yuwen stood wearing a black trench coat and a black mask.
Beneath his feet, a pitch-black shadow covered the entire room.
Huff! Huff! Huff!
The shadow seemed to breathe heavily, like a living organism.
An eerie, hair-raising sensation radiated from this expanse of darkness.
Gurgle!
All the shadows contracted toward Bai Yuwen. Behind him, a five-meter-tall, pitch-black shadow emerged.
The shadow had a single horn on its head, an incredibly powerful physique, and twenty-centimeter-long shadow bone spikes growing from its joints.
Once all the shadows had retracted into this entity, it suddenly threw a punch forward.
Boom!
A sonic boom echoed through the room.
Bai Yuwen opened his eyes, a look of confidence shining within them. ‘It’s done. A fusion of ten thousand shadows... just the pressure it exudes is countless times stronger than the one made from a hundred!’
He turned to look at the shadow. “You shall be the beginning of my redemption. The other shadows have no names, but you—I shall grant you the name: Tyrant!”
Tyrant seemed to possess a level of consciousness. Upon receiving its name, it puffed out its chest slightly, clearly satisfied with the designation.
Snap!
The small door opposite them opened, and a middle-aged man in a suit walked in, followed by the Warden.
The middle-aged man looked at Bai Yuwen and said, “Mr. Bai, the harvest of ten thousand shadows is complete. Minister Lu asks if you will continue your operations tonight. If so, we will mobilize personnel to assist you.”
“I’m heading out now. I can’t wait to beat that bastard with the ‘69’ on his face to death.” Bai Yuwen sneered beneath his mask as he looked at Tyrant.
Hearing this, the middle-aged man waved his hand, and someone immediately brought over a map of Yangcheng and a pen.
Bai Yuwen circled several locations on the map; these were the places where he sensed the Lord of Evil items.
“Let’s go. We leave now.” After marking the locations, Bai Yuwen walked outside.
When he stepped out of the prison, a military Humvee was already parked at the gate.
“Mr. Bai, please get in. As soon as you reach the location, our men will immediately lock down the surrounding area,” the middle-aged man said.
Bai Yuwen nodded and got into the vehicle. Seeing his passenger arrive, the soldier at the wheel stepped on the gas and drove toward the city.
A hundred meters up in the sky, a crow followed the Humvee from a distance.
The prison was over ten kilometers from the city center. A few kilometers after leaving the prison, the traffic gradually increased.
The road was a four-lane highway with streetlights every dozen meters. On both sides were rows of low-rise, two or three-story buildings.
Watching the scenery flash past the window, Bai Yuwen’s eyes remained incredibly calm behind his mask. ‘I truly can’t wait.’
Vroom!
Just then, an SUV suddenly overtook them at high speed.
Through the window, he saw a man sitting in the back seat of the other vehicle, who was also looking at him.
Their eyes met for a second before the vehicles pulled about a dozen meters apart.
‘Something’s wrong!’ After the eye contact, his shadow began to warn him of trouble.
Before Bai Yuwen could think further, the rear window of that car rolled down.
A thick, black cylindrical object poked out, with an oval shape at its front.
Upon seeing the full object, Bai Yuwen’s expression instantly soured. “A rocket launcher!”
Swoosh!
The rocket was fired. At a distance of only a dozen meters, the driving soldier had no time to react; he could only stare in terror at the incoming projectile.
Buzz!
Suddenly, the Humvee’s shadow rippled, and a mass of darkness instantly appeared in front of the vehicle.
The shadow extended a black hand and snatched the rocket.
Boom!
An explosion erupted in front of the Humvee. Most of the impact was absorbed by the five-meter-tall Tyrant.
Screeech!!!
The soldier slammed on the brakes, and the vehicle skidded for several meters.
As the smoke from the explosion cleared, the Shadow Tyrant was revealed to be completely unscathed. It glared ferociously at the vehicle ahead.
In the SUV, the young man holding the rocket launcher saw the sudden appearance of the Shadow Tyrant, and his face twisted in shock. “Drive faster!”
The driver looked through the rearview mirror and saw the monster that was nearly as tall as a two-story building. His expression also changed. “Dammit, was there a monster this exaggerated in the intel?!”
Vroom!
He floored the accelerator. The engine roared as the car’s speed quickly climbed past 130 kilometers per hour.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Suddenly, heavy footsteps thundered from behind. The ground beneath Tyrant’s feet shattered as it covered over ten meters in a single stride.
In an instant, it caught up to the fleeing SUV.
It raised its right fist and slammed it into the right side of the car.
Crash!
With a single punch, the entire right side of the car caved in. The glass shattered, and the youth in the back seat was crushed into mincemeat by the collapsing metal.
Boom!
The next moment, the vehicle suddenly exploded, and flames began to burn on the road.
Not far away, a truck driver watched the two-story-tall Shadow Tyrant standing in the middle of the road with a face full of terror. “What on earth is that thing?!”
Boom!
Suddenly, the roof of his truck caved in. A figure shot off the roof and charged toward the shadow monster.
Thud!
Buck, dressed in grey, landed on the ground.
He leaned forward, a frantic smile appearing on his face as he moved rapidly. “Kid, hand over that mask and trench coat!”
The Humvee door opened. Bai Yuwen saw a black figure rushing toward him at extreme speed from the opposite lane.
His gaze was icy. “A surprise as soon as I step out the door? Tyrant, kill him!”
The opponent was fast, but Tyrant was no slower.
Boom!
The ground beneath Tyrant’s feet exploded as it charged into the opposite lane. A white sedan happened to be driving by and was sent flying by the impact.
Two seconds later, the two sides closed to within five meters.
Buck looked up at the giant, raising his right fist with a look of glee. “Come on! Let’s see how you handle the great Buck’s evolved strength!”
Using the momentum from his sprint, his fist suddenly thrust forward, exploding with incredible speed to form a black afterimage that stabbed toward Tyrant.
Tyrant suddenly raised its right leg, using its own momentum to deliver a front kick that collided with Buck’s fist.
Boom!
A white shockwave exploded between the fist and the half-meter-wide black foot.
Buck’s body, which was barely two meters tall, actually managed to withstand Tyrant’s kick.
His face turned bright red as he roared at Tyrant, “Is that all you’ve got?!”
Swish! Bam!
His left fist also became a blur, striking heavily against Tyrant’s foot. However, despite his confident strike, Tyrant’s foot didn’t budge.
The next instant, a black blur flashed past as Tyrant’s massive fist appeared in front of Buck.
‘So fast!’ Buck’s face filled with alarm at the sudden punch.
Boom!
The fist slammed into Buck’s face, and an immense force bore down on him.
“Urgh...” Buck was smashed into the pavement, creating a circular crater three to four meters wide in the road.
He was dazed. They had seemed evenly matched just a moment ago, hadn't they?
