Meanwhile, Ivelia, who was handling affairs in the Demon King's Castle, seemed to notice something.
Her hand holding the documents paused slightly.
A powerful surge of magic had suddenly erupted from the direction of the experimental grounds in the distance.
What's more, the aura of the dragon race was actually mixed into that magical power.
Ivelia raised her head and looked toward the experimental grounds.
“Furni?”
“What is she doing here?”
As she spoke, Ivelia watched the distant experimental grounds, where explosions continued to echo, her eyes narrowing slightly.
There was indeed Furni's aura within that magic.
But even more of it belonged to Lin Ling's magic.
Furthermore, that magic was currently in an extremely unstable state.
Ivelia turned to look at Niya beside her.
“Niya, your teacher is here. Do you want to go see her?”
Niya was standing nearby arranging the midday meal, and when she heard the name Furni, her movements also stiffened.
“Teacher Furni?”
Just as she spoke, another massive explosion echoed from the direction of the experimental grounds.
Boom!
A plume of dust could even be seen rising in the distance.
Niya stared in that direction, falling silent for a moment.
Teacher Furni, who had taught her how to control her strength and instruct her in magic, had actually come to the Demon King's Castle?
But why was she over by the experimental grounds?
And why did it sound like such a massive commotion?
“I want to go.”
Niya nodded.
Ivelia didn't say much either, raising her hand to cast teleportation magic.
In the next instant, the two of them vanished on the spot.
When they teleported near the experimental grounds, what they saw was a blue giant dragon flying frantically all over the sky.
There was not a single shred of the dignity expected of the dragon race.
“Wait—wait a minute!”
“I was only joking!”
“Wait! I was wrong!”
The blue giant dragon tumbled through the air, desperately dodging the magic spheres that relentlessly pursued her.
For the magic spheres she couldn't dodge, she had no choice but to tank them with her body.
The defensive blessings on her body flashed continuously.
Occasionally, because her magic consumption was too high, she would suddenly revert to human form and scramble a few steps on the ground.
And then, as the next magic sphere flew toward her, she would hurriedly transform back into a dragon to block it.
Boom!
Another magic sphere exploded right next to Furni.
The shockwave from the explosion sent her entire draconic body spinning in the air.
“Hey, hey, hey! I'm really going to die here!”
Niya stood frozen in place.
Watching this scene unfold, she felt her worldview shattering.
That was her teacher.
The very same Teacher Furni who had taught her magic, instructed her on how to control her power, and could easily restrain her whenever she lost control as a child.
And yet, right now...
...her teacher was rolling around on the ground, desperately begging for mercy.
More importantly, the one chasing her down and pummeling her was Miss Saintess.
The frail Miss Saintess who usually looked like she might break if she tripped.
Niya: “...”
“My Lord Demon King... Teacher... Ha, haha.”
Niya's voice was a bit airy.
Ivelia glanced at Furni, who was frantically fleeing.
Then, her gaze fell upon Lin Ling, who was hovering in midair.
There was still a very clear murderous intent lingering in her eyes.
Every single magic sphere was compressed to its absolute limit; the moment they dropped, they blasted a new crater into the ground.
“Lin Ling has lost control a bit.”
With that, Ivelia didn't just stand there.
She teleported directly next to Lin Ling.
Just as another magic sphere was about to form, Ivelia gently took Lin Ling's hand.
“Lin Ling, that's enough.”
Feeling her hand being held, Lin Ling's movements paused.
She turned her head to look at Ivelia beside her.
Only then did the murderous intent in those eyes begin to slowly recede.
“My Lord Demon King...”
Lin Ling's voice trembled slightly.
Yet the magic sphere in her hand had not completely dispersed.
“She said she wanted to destroy everyone's food source.”
“If she does that, won't everyone in the Demon King's Castle have to go hungry again?”
“She... she even knocked Phelan unconscious.”
At this point, as if remembering Phelan collapsed on the ground again, the magic in Lin Ling's hands began to gather unstably once more.
Ivelia squeezed her hand tighter.
“Do not worry.”
Her voice was very soft.
“The food will not be destroyed.”
“I am here.”
Lin Ling looked at Ivelia.
Under the soothing influence of Ivelia's voice, the magic that had been on the verge of erupting finally began to dissipate.
“It is fine.”
Ivelia continued.
“Let us head back to the Demon King's Castle first, alright?”
Lin Ling looked down at her still-glowing hand.
Then she looked at Furni in the distance, who was on the verge of being flattened from a dragon into a pancake.
She fell silent for a moment, but ultimately nodded.
“...Alright.”
In the distance, Furni finally felt the terrifying magical pressure behind her vanish.
Her entire draconic form lay sprawled on the ground, and only after a long while did she slowly revert to her human shape.
Splayed out on the dirt, her bishop robes were completely disheveled, and several blades of grass clung to her hair.
“Whew...”
“That scared the life out of me.”
“My dragon life almost ended right then and there.”
Just as Furni scrambled up from the ground, before she could even pat the dust off her clothes, she suddenly felt another substantial wave of murderous intent near her.
Her movements froze.
Then she slowly turned her head.
Niya was standing right behind her.
“Teac~her~”
Niya's voice was incredibly sweet.
Yet for some reason, her eyes were filled with murderous intent.
Furni: “...”
She stared at the smile on Niya's face, feeling her shoulder being gripped by a hand filled with immense power.
The sheer force of the grip caused her newly restored dragon scales to creak ominously.
“N-Niya.”
Furni forced a very strained smile.
“L-Long time no see.”
“Did you miss your teacher?”
The smile on Niya's face grew even brighter.
“I did. Very much so.”
“Especially just now when I watched my teacher being chased and beaten by Miss Saintess. I really thought about a lot of things.”
Furni: “...”
She felt that after barely escaping with her life, she had plunged straight into another kind of danger.
Just then, Phelan was rushing over from the distance.
His clothes were slightly disheveled, and he was holding a brand-new recording board.
Although he had been knocked out earlier, he didn't seem to have sustained any serious injuries.
His expression remained perfectly calm.
But this very calmness made Furni feel an even greater sense of foreboding.
“Miss Furni.”
Phelan walked up to everyone and pushed up his glasses.
“Knocking someone unconscious without a word next time could easily lead to misunderstandings.”
As he spoke, he glanced at the surrounding experimental grounds, which had been blasted beyond recognition.
The ground was littered with craters.
Some of them were even still smoldering.
One didn't need to think to know that an incredibly fierce battle had just taken place here.
Phelan looked down to write.
“Addendum: Miss Furni is suspected of provoking Miss Saintess verbally, triggering a severe hostile reaction.”
Furni immediately raised her hand.
“I was only testing her.”
Phelan continued writing.
“Addendum: Miss Furni lacks basic judgment regarding the boundaries of testing.”
“Hey, don't write that down.”
Niya tightened her grip slightly.
Furni shut her mouth instantly.
Ivelia looked at the chaotic scene before her and simply sighed softly.
“Alright.”
“Let's head back to the Demon King's Castle first.”
With that, Ivelia raised her hand to cast teleportation magic.
Standing beside her, Lin Ling still glanced at Furni with some lingering wariness.
In response, Furni immediately squatted down and covered her head.
“Don't hit me, don't hit me anymore.”
“I was really wrong.”
Lin Ling didn't say anything, only silently leaning closer to Ivelia's side.
Following that, the teleportation light shone.
Ivelia teleported everyone back to the Demon King's Castle together.
However, a blue-haired figure was left behind on the spot.
Furni stood in the crater-riddled experimental grounds, looking at where everyone had vanished, the smile on her face slowly freezing.
“Hey!”
“You can't hold a grudge like this!”
She raised her hand, wanting to open the teleportation array again.
However, only a tiny, faint glow of magic lit up on her hand before dying out.
Furni: “...”
Just now, to defend against Lin Ling's magic, her mana had been almost entirely depleted.
She looked down at her tattered bishop robes.
Then she looked at the devastated experimental grounds around her.
Finally, the blue-haired woman lay down in a very pathetic manner.
“My magic... my magic hasn't recovered yet!”
In the empty experimental grounds, only a pathetic little dragon remained, her magic completely drained from defending against Lin Ling's spells.
