Ning Busan asked, “Isn’t the God of Light planning to resurrect the Silver-Crowned God? What kind of plot could he have?”
Siren countered, “What benefit does resurrecting the Silver-Crowned God bring him?”
Ning Busan frowned. “You mean he has no intention of resurrecting the Silver-Crowned God?”
Siren chuckled. “Do you know what the God of Light’s greatest desire is?”
“In the beginning, there was no darkness on the Landia Continent. To prevent the power of light from spiraling out of control, the Silver-Crowned God took the God of Light’s third rib and created the God of Darkness.”
Ning Busan’s lips twitched.
Wasn’t this just Adam and Eve?
“When the Silver-Crowned God was alive, He maintained the balance between the powers of light and darkness. But since His fall, the God of Darkness has gradually spiraled out of control. The God of Light had no choice but to use his own body as a vessel to seal the God of Darkness.”
“Maintaining the balance between light and darkness is too difficult. The simplest way is to make one of them disappear completely.”
Ning Busan fell into thought. “So the God of Light’s greatest desire is to make the God of Darkness disappear completely, to make darkness disappear completely, and to make Hell disappear completely.”
“The Silver-Crowned God could do all this, but even if He were to resurrect, He wouldn’t do it. He would definitely want light and darkness to coexist.”
Siren nodded. “Exactly.”
Ning Busan asked, “What are the conditions for the Silver-Crowned God’s resurrection?”
Siren said, “Once you finish absorbing the power within the seven cards, He will resurrect inside your body.”
Ning Busan stroked his chin. “The God of Light went to all this trouble to turn you into cards and design this whole setup, yet he doesn’t want to resurrect the Silver-Crowned God. There’s only one possibility—”
“He tampered with the cards!”
Ning Busan finally pieced it together.
“There’s something wrong with the Angel card!”
“Phoenix is the child of the God of Light. The God of Light plans to have him replace the Silver-Crowned God!”
Siren clapped his hands, praising him with great appreciation, “You really are clever.”
“What’s the use of being clever?” Ning Busan sneered. “No matter who ends up becoming the Silver-Crowned God, I’m still just cannon fodder.”
It was infuriating just thinking about it. This was his body—why should he make room for someone else?
He would rather drag them down to the grave with him than surrender his body!
Siren said, “You have two choices right now.”
“The first choice is to absorb my godhead, become the new Sea God, and wash your hands of those cards entirely.”
“Are you joking?” Ning Busan asked helplessly. “Even if I wanted to run away, would the God of Light allow it? Do you think he would let me go?”
Siren said, “Since you know running away is useless, there’s only the second path left.”
“If you can gain the recognition of the authority of creation and completely master the power of creation, you might not necessarily lose to the Silver-Crowned God and the God of Light.”
Ning Busan asked, “Where is the authority of creation?”
“With the God of Light.” Siren’s eyes darkened. “If he didn’t have the authority of creation, how could I have been turned into a card?”
“I worked hard for half my life and finally became the Sea God, only to be schemed against by him just as I was about to ascend from a demigod to a True God.”
Ning Busan couldn’t help but get a headache. The authority of creation was with the God of Light; was he supposed to go and snatch it by force?
“I left this consciousness behind ahead of time just to warn you to be careful of the God of Light,” Siren said. “And, I hope the one who wins in the end is you.”
Ning Busan asked, “Why?”
Siren’s deep-sea blue eyes curved slightly as he said, emphasizing each word:
“Because we will take away a part of you, and leave behind a part of us.”
“We are completely different, yet in the end, we will be indistinguishable from one another.”
With those words, he and the Siren card transformed into a stream of light and merged into Ning Busan’s body.
Siren’s memories and knowledge replayed before Ning Busan like a slow-motion film. Within this monotonous, deep-blue space, time seemed to stretch.
Compared to Louis and Faelo, Siren’s most prominent trait was his divinity.
He had completely become the incarnation of the ocean—both ruthless and unyielding.
But Siren’s understanding of authority and godheads gave Ning Busan great inspiration, causing him to repeatedly ponder a question in his mind.
How exactly did one perform creation?
Ning Busan felt an unprecedented urge, as if a force were urging him to create, to give new meaning to this dead, deep-blue space.
His fingers trembled slightly as he attempted to grasp some invisible power.
Soon, a rough stone coalesced and took shape in his palm.
When Ning Busan tried to stabilize the stone, it suddenly disintegrated, turning into countless tiny particles that dissolved into the water.
But Ning Busan smiled.
He seemed to have already touched the threshold of creation.
This deep-blue space was inside the godhead, which was static relative to the outside world, so Ning Busan had plenty of time to study how to create.
Ning Busan became so engrossed in this that he gradually lost track of time.
After an unknown number of days and nights, Ning Busan looked at the structure he had built with his own hands, the corners of his mouth curving up into a faint smile.
His memory was excellent, and he had replicated the Mage Association’s tower building almost one-to-one.
Did creation feel just like working on infrastructure?
However, without exception, these structures were all inanimate objects.
They floated quietly in this deep-blue space, devoid of any breath of life or wave of a soul.
Ning Busan began trying to create life.
He held a faint halo of light in his palm. The halo slowly coalesced, gradually taking shape into the outline of a fish.
Ning Busan infused it with energy, trying to bring it to life.
The fish’s body trembled slightly, as if it had come alive.
But in the next second, the fish returned to its rigid state.
Ning Busan curled his lip in disgust. “Useless thing!”
He could create stones, wooden chairs, and metal, as well as mountains, houses, and machinery, but he could not create even the tiniest speck of life.
Every single attempt ended in failure.
“Without the authority of creation, it is impossible to create life.”
Hearing the voice that suddenly came from behind him, Ning Busan’s heart nearly stopped.
It was the God of Light!
No, seriously, where are your manners?
Did you even knock before coming in?
Ning Busan roared inwardly, but when he turned around, he forced a smile. “What brings you here?”
