Chapter 87 · Volume 1

Atlantis (14)

Beelzebub, the Demon King of Gluttony, was the first to step out.
Following closely behind him were Mammon, the Demon King of Greed; Leviathan, the Demon King of Envy; Asmodeus, the Demon King of Lust; and Samael, the Demon King of Wrath.
Behind them was the vast and mighty army of Hell.
Mammon cracked his neck and said, “After being locked in the abyss for so long, I can finally come out!”
Leviathan’s eyes were filled with envy and darkness. “Why doesn’t Belphegor have to come?”
Asmodeus covered her face and laughed. “Don’t you know him by now? It’s been ten thousand years, and he hasn’t taken a single step out of the Resting Nest. Do you really expect to see him anywhere outside of Hell?”
Samael said nothing, simply charging down to join the fight.
A warlike and bloodthirsty nature was etched into the very bones of demons, but ever since Lucifer became the Lord of Hell, they had been forced to behave themselves and stay in Hell under his intimidation.
They had been suppressed for ten thousand whole years!
Finally having a chance to stretch their limbs was nothing short of a carnival for these demons.
Xenos? Smash them!
Sea monsters? Smash them!
What? You say you’re a demon too?
Then you must die as well!
All of you, die!!!
Not a single one will live!!!
The arrival of the demons shook the entire deep sea.
Beelzebub brushed off his sleeves, keeping his contributions to himself.
Although the clam tribe had not a single Water-Repelling Bead left, they had gained the friendship of Hell!
While Beelzebub was still searching for Ning Busan, Mammon spotted him at a glance, surrounded by xenos.
Mammon quickly closed in on Ning Busan, a sinister grin spreading across his face. “You—”
Ning Busan shoved Lilian into his arms. “Perfect timing. Take good care of her for me.”
Mammon stammered, “Wait, I—”
With a powerful flick of his tail, Ning Busan had already swum several meters away.
Mammon: “...”
Damn it!
He wasn't the King. What right did he have to order him around?
Wasn't he afraid that Mammon would kill this merman?
Mammon’s face flushed with a mixture of anger and embarrassment. In his rage, he flipped over several nearby xenos.
He cast a disgusted look at the frail-looking Lilian, completely unaware of the severity of the situation, and said fiercely, “Stay behind me.”
Lilian rubbed the Lock of Causality in her hands, blinking guiltily.
Honestly, she felt that even without the demon in front of her, she would remain completely unharmed.
But the same couldn't be said for this demon.
Amidst the chaotic battle, a starfish had silently reached the gates of the temple of Atlantis.
Ning Busan had long noticed this sneaky starfish. He rushed over and slapped it away with his tail.
He had gone to so much trouble to open Atlantis, yet someone wanted to reap the benefits without any effort. Wasn’t that just begging for death?
After delivering several consecutive heavy blows, Ning Busan said resentfully, “You sneaky camper!”
The starfish, dazed from the beating, mumbled, “How did you know I’m the sixth child in my family?”
Ning Busan knocked him unconscious with a strike of his sword and swam into the temple of Atlantis.
The massive crystal dome refracted colorful light and shadow. The floor was covered with fine sand, each step stirring up tiny whirlpools.
The first thing Ning Busan noticed was the statue of the Sea God right in the center of the temple.
Except, the statue had already been reduced to a pile of rubble.
Ning Busan crouched down, his fingers gently tracing the cracks on the statue.
Every fracture was exceptionally clean, clearly cleaved deliberately with a sharp weapon, as if venting a deep-seated hatred.
Most horrifyingly, the Siren’s eyes had been gouged out, leaving only two pitch-black hollows.
Ning Busan’s gaze turned cold.
This was deliberate destruction.
Who did it?
His gaze shifted to the Divine Seat.
There, a brand-new statue stood majestically.
It was a sculpture of a sea turtle, pitch-black all over, with only its eyes inlaid with blood-red coral.
The sculpture was lifelike, every single groove on the turtle shell clearly visible, showing that the sculptor had put in a great deal of effort.
Ning Busan clenched his fists, making a cracking sound.
No wonder Atlantis had disappeared from the deep sea, yet the power of that card was still leaking.
No wonder when the Siren sent him a dream and mentioned Atlantis, his tone had been filled with bone-chilling killing intent.
Some shameless old turtle wanted to usurp the Siren’s Divine Seat!
Gripping the Jinge Sword, Ning Busan thrust it toward the turtle statue with thunderous momentum.
Just as it was about to hit, the statue suddenly erupted with a blinding light, and a pitch-black barrier appeared out of thin air, blocking the attack.
Ning Busan’s Jinge Sword buzzed from the recoil, but he did not retreat. Instead, he slashed down even harder until cracks began to appear on the barrier.
“Audacious!”
The statue’s eyes lit up with a blinding blood-red light, and a raspy voice echoed from within, sounding as unpleasant as sandpaper rubbing together.
Ning Busan could feel a powerful pressure descending upon him, but he did not shrink back.
On the contrary, a cold smile appeared on his face.
“You’re the audacious one, you traitor to the Sea God!”
If Ning Busan’s guess was correct, this sea turtle had disappeared along with Atlantis.
The Siren had tasked him with guarding the temple, but he betrayed the Siren, desiring to usurp his Divine Seat.
A massive phantom of a sea turtle slowly emerged. The cracks on its shell were as terrifying as lightning, and its murky eyes gleamed with a cold, red light.
The turtle stared at Ning Busan and murmured softly, “So similar.”
“Why only send out a phantom?” Ning Busan narrowed his eyes. “Could it be that your real body is somewhere else and you can’t leave as you please?”
“To kill you, a phantom is more than enough.”
The turtle’s neck extended forward, adopting a highly aggressive posture.
Ning Busan’s figure flashed, turning into a streak of light as he charged straight at the turtle’s phantom. The Jinge Sword cut through the seawater, thrusting directly between the old turtle’s eyes.
However, the turtle’s phantom suddenly expanded. The cracks on its shell burst with pitch-black energy, forming a heavy barrier that completely blocked Ning Busan’s offensive.
Ning Busan complained in his mind: That turtle shell is so hard, its defense stats must be maxed out!
The turtle opened its massive mouth, and a pitch-black vortex erupted from within. The vortex was interspersed with countless sharp water blades, sweeping toward him like a storm.
Ning Busan charged head-on, the Jinge Sword in his hand trembling slightly. Lightning magic wrapped around the blade, crackling with electrical currents.
Water conducts electricity—how very magical.
He spun around and raised the Jinge Sword high. The thunderous power on the blade’s edge suddenly surged, bringing forth a brilliant flash of lightning that struck straight at the turtle’s barrier.
The great sword collided with the barrier, erupting in a deafening rumble.
Ning Busan’s pupils were dark and gloomy. “Once I find your real body, I will definitely turn you into turtle soup!”
“Hmph, what boastful talk. I’ll be waiting for you to come and meet your death!” The turtle’s phantom contorted in the lightning, eventually turning into a wisp of black smoke and completely vanishing along with the statue.
Ning Busan sheathed the Jinge Sword, his gaze turning solemn as he looked deep into the temple.
